I think they made a typo...still it may be fine...just put some cardboard or plasticene on top of the battery and see if it gets crushed when you sit on it. Wasn't there a rolling stones song, "I see green bike and I want to paint it black" or was that BelfastGuzzi taunting Van? I suspect your ECU is fine. I don't think you toasted a relay or fuse, probably just forgot to attach the line from the battery to the starter....or you discharged the battery a little too much when making fireworks(possibly damaging the battery permanently). You may need to purchase one of these fine chargers: (If you are using a Yuasa, you are not likely limited to these. But the Guzzi Spark battery and the Hawker Odyssey require these chargers, or the dilligence of not exceeding 14.7V and not charging for too long, but still getting it to fully charge. In other words, get on of the below chargers) TecMate AccuMate Pro 12V-7A-S Motion Pro Inc. 650-594-9600 (aka optimate) http://www.batterymart.com/p-ACC-12V7A-S.html $86.95++ Xenotronix SX 90-1 12V, 6A Xenotronix 800-624-9366 (aka Odyssey Optimiser) http://www.gotbatteries.com/items.asp?para.../CH301/34S201S2 $99.95++ Motocellâ„¢ 693601 12V, 3A Custom Chrome 800-729-3332 Battery Defender ACC-1206WB 12V, 3A BatteryMart.com 800-405-2121 Also Hawker??? is developing an Odyssey Ultimizer to be released second quarter 2006...see http://www.odysseyfactory.com/

I had to have both my QuatD and stock crossover welded. One more weld needed and I will add an additional support for the crossover. Greg Field recently posted his success putting on the center stand. But his aftermarket crossover needed a little TLC from a hammer. The stock crossover should not require the hammer. You may find it helpful loosen the headers to get the crossover on.

Be sure to read the instructions that come with the battery. If you have the AccuMate PRO 12V 7A-S Odyssey charger, you should be safe to charge it for days, but basically you just need to get it up so that it maintains more than 12.80V. Actually the instructions say, "Measure the battery voltage; if it is 12.65V or greater, install, if less, then refer to the charging section" But I would charge it if it is less than 12.80, but only with the currently recommended chargers: TecMate AccuMate Pro 12V-7A-S Motion Pro Inc. 650-594-9600 (aka optimate) http://www.batterymart.com/p-ACC-12V7A-S.html $86.95++ Xenotronix SX 90-1 12V, 6A Xenotronix 800-624-9366 (aka Odyssey Optimiser) http://www.gotbatteries.com/items.asp?para.../CH301/34S201S2 $99.95++ Motocellâ„¢ 693601 12V, 3A Custom Chrome 800-729-3332 Battery Defender ACC-1206WB 12V, 3A BatteryMart.com 800-405-2121 Also Hawker??? is developing an Odyssey Ultimizer to be released second quarter 2006...see http://www.odysseyfactory.com/ Warning, Hawker previously, but no longer recommend Deltran's line of chargers and vice versa http://www.batterytender.com/notice_odysse...f093b029480870a

The Metal Jacket is supposed to be for heat resistance..I suppose to keep the plastic from rupturing due to heat expansion....but the weight passing through the seat sounds like a second good reason....but keep in mind it allows for less room between seat and pressure on the battery. I don't know which is better But I do know this is a good place to get the Odyssey http://www.portablepower.com/items/search/SLA/1/all/pc545 They shipped it fully charged, or atleast the voltage was over 12.8V 12.84V is 100% charged on the Hawker batteries. So, you might not get a chance to do the charging yourself. They also sell the Odyssey Opimizer. http://www.portablepower.com/items/batteri.../CH301/34S201S2 FWIW I started having trouble with my voltage regulator last Oct, Nov, Dec??? The regulator was definitely bad and was replaced, but I still have charging problems. The battery will not hold a charge for long and the Odyssey Optimizer only brings it up to 12.6xVolts I suspect the bad alternator may have killed the battery, or it could be the other way around The other possibility is that I charged the battery with a 2Amp automotive charger which may have weakened the battery even though I kept the charging rate below 15V... It is a good battery, but it is more sensitive to abuse than conventional batteries. Therefore I highly recommend the Xenotronix Odyssey Optimizer model SX90-1...as expensive as it is. To make charging easy, it comes with a quick connect cable that bolts to the battery terminals, so that charging is a easy as just quick connecting and waiting. I have been getting by for two months like this, but now it is time for a new battery, before I kill the charging system

PS Docc, since you are posting, I happilly assume you made it through the storms. Prayers to your fellow Tennessee neighbors.

Oh, you are right. I guess what I was thinking months ago was to replace the fuel low level sensor with the regulator and move a petcock to where the regulator was...or something like that. I'll have to pull the tank and take another look.
-
Al, on your old tank did you ever consider pulling the fuel warning light sensor and replacing it with a fuel valve so that fuel could come from either side of the tank? I ran out the other day and filled up exactly five gallons. I rely more on the trip meter, so I could give up the idiot light if the fittings are the same as the valve fitting, and then I could use almost all of the six gallons.

Just out of curiousity, you might look to see if they have E3 stamped on them somewhere. I know Mistral offers mufflers in regular and E3. Does Mistral make the Ti that Guzzi sells?

He kind of has Greg Field's mustache, but lets hold off on shooting Greg

I'll hunt you down and shoot you too if I find out it is because of the swastikas. But what do swastikas have to do with hot ladies and Urals? I guess there is some link to BMWs and BMWs to hitler....but that is really stretching a Nazi connection. Or maybe those are anti-swastikas because they go the wrong way and like the ladies, they curve. Is it love? ...and more paint http://www.motorcyclenews.com/jpeg/127/1368134.jpeg

Thanks! very enlightening!

here is what the air temperature sensor does....not much change above freezing. One map is the Ti ECU and the other is the basic ECU for pre-2003 bikes I could show the trim on the engine temperature sensor...but I am lazy at the moment

I don't think most people get better MPG with re-maps, unless that is their goal. Here is the 001 map, aka the map for the stock bike (US model???) Negatives indicate fuel taken out because the Tuning Link oxygen sensor indicates that it is too rich . Positive numbers indicate the reverse. Add an aftermarket muffler and all the numbers change. Mess with your TPS and all the numbers change. 001 MAP 05 10 20 40 60 80 100 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 1000 00 -3 00 05 03 00 00 1500 -5 00 02 11 10 14 15 2000 -7 -9 -6 -14 -7 -5 20 2500 00 -5 -2 03 00 07 14 3000 00 00 04 03 03 06 -4 3500 00 06 09 -2 01 06 05 4000 00 05 15 02 07 06 09 4500 00 05 11 -7 -6 00 04 5000 00 00 12 02 02 -1 10 5500 00 00 10 -4 -1 04 10 6000 00 00 00 -7 00 00 06 7000 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 8000 But remember, some bikes are more equal than others

Nothing is wrong with the .15mm IN; .20mm EX It is good to know someone is getting it "right", if there is such a thing. The problem with the recommended values is consistency from Mother Guzzi From the "WORKSHOP MANUAL" that came out I believe after the Rosso Mandello and before the LeMans, they recommend

Yuck, it will be like an over weight shaft drive Ducati. I like what Dynotec is doing with the Griso/Breva I think this is the before(they must be measuring at the crank) Moto Guzzi Breva / Griso Serie max. 90 PS (66 kW) bei 7700/min max. 89 Nm bei 5600/min And this is the after: Dynotec Guzzi Breva / Griso Dynotec-Ventiltriebskit und Brennraumbearbeitung max. 92 PS (67,5 kW) bei 7200/min max. 100 Nm bei 5500/min Note the magical 100Nm that is about as good as the magical 100HP at the crank number that I think Guzzi should pursue....but if they Guzzi can do 100Nm that would be good too.
-
...and a 350! But with the Lario, I think they were getting 60HP at the pistons, but then again, maybe that is why it had some reliability problems. The 750Breva and Nevada appear to be much better built for reliability than the 650s with less peak HP and smoother running engine. Making an 850 from the small block may have been pushing it or not practical. Still a small block with good suspension would be a blast to ride even with just 40RWHP
-
Great job! Looks much more comfortable than stock
-
ah! Good to know. I wonder if I loaded the wrong one into my bike...But I think it is from Luhbo's 2000 Sport, so it should have been fine.
-
I was really hoping they had turned the small block into a less than 200Kg, greater than 50HP, fun machine with Upside down forks and monoshock...but no. I really don't get this except to save a little on the price, the insurance, the registration fees, the fuel, etc. Maybe it was for the nostalgia of the old 850s, but nostalgia is more based on the style of the bike. This bike should be fast enough with a light rider. I think it loses about 10% peak HP and 20% peak torque: You probably have to rev it more, but I'll bet it is pretty smooth (read boring) I suppose they are trying to follow the Ducati Monster marketing strategy. I don't know why one would get the lower end Monsters but they sell. For me, NO THANK YOU PIAGGO GUZZI I want more, not less power.
