  1. So, you still recommend that your buddy pull the FBF pistons and drop in the stock pistons?
  2. Sure most of the current Guzzi owners know that there is more to life than HP, otherwise we would not be riding Guzzis, but Guzzi's future market gives a fat, flying f*ck. If they hit the 100HP and have models like the MGS01, Norge, and Griso, they will sell at twice the rate of the current Griso and Norge.
  3. It seems to me that larger throttle bodies would produce more peak power. Assuming Dr. John is putting them on a V11California engine, I agree it is a good move, but only because it is presumably making the California more power above 4000 rpms.
  4. So you want him to dress as an orange fruit I have Bates leathers and they are fantastic quality. http://www.batesleathers.com/ Custom fitting makes the difference....now if my belly would just stop growing Z leathers also has a great reputation. http://www.zcustom.com/ as does Vanson http://www.vansonleathers.com/
  5. ...and the verdict is???
  6. Ahaaaaa!
  7. But then, how can you explain Sjögren's Syndrome?
  8. How do you know? I plugged in the following words to google and got 9 hits: Sjögren alien Luleå anal probed
  9. I'd say 10W-40 is good for Michigan Late fall early Spring. Also it may be good for breaking in the bike for the first 10,000 miles. But if you are Detroit motorcycle courier, stick with the 20W-50. If you have any doubts find a 10W50...I am very happy with the Repsol racing 10W-50 Another alternative is Amsoil. Their automotive 20W-50 or 10W-40 is louded with lots of zinc and phosphorus. Another alternative is to go with Mobil 1 but find a zddp additive like Valvoline Professional Series Oil Treatment or Valvoline Synpower Oil Treatment or STP. I tried Mobil One automotive and found the engine was noisier than the worn out oil that it was replacing, so I changed the mobile one out at 1000 miles for fear it was too thin. The truck oil that Greg mentioned may be fine...I would just be concerned it is too thin for Summer in the city. I have also been very happy with Maxima oils. I tried Motul but felt it wore out quickly and was consumed too quickly.
  10. Do the tyrants measure emissions as Moles of pollutants per Mile, Moles per RPM, or percentage of mixture. If it is percentage, the displacement might not have that great of an effect. I am sure an 850 LeMans had as much trouble getting by 1984 emissions as V11LeMans has getting by emissions in 2004, even though the 850 probably gets five or ten MPG. I don't think the tyrants are very smart, and I think they measure only the percentage, which may be why we have seen the trend towards greater displacement. I remember doomsayers saying the aircooled engine would be dead by year 2000 because of emission standards. About the only fix has been fuel injection.
  11. Isn't that just the oil blowing by the cover gaseket, down the threads and out of a tapping hole or out of porous heads? Solution, new gasket???? Greg said, "and gravity will carry any oil that leaks to the outboard side of the head." and Ratchet's leak is on the inboard side.
  12. You mean later thread? Orangeokie had you beat by over a week! http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7415&hl=
  13. "The following steps must be completed to claim your free Diablo Strada Front Tire: 1. Purchase your Diablo Strada Rear Tire - 160, 170, 180 or 190 (You must retain your receipt)" So, you can purchase a 170 Strada. Unfortunately, the Metzeler deal has fewer tire size choices
  14. ...or more displacement If I had a choice of going 400cc bigger or 400cc smaller, it would be no question, supersize it please!
  15. So I guess what Ratchet and Mike are saying is that when the spacer is on the wrong side, the wheel is oriented correctly, ie. inner spacer is protruding to the left, but the outter spacer is on the right, but not correct side. The outter spacer ends up sliding over the spindle, effectively doing nothing, meanwhile the inner spacer does take up the slack on the left side and almost gets the job done, but it is about two mm shorter than the outter spacer that should be on the left side. (sorry that was a mouth full) Does that make sense???? PS I don't really care sense Mike helped me go to the Ohlins
  16. I still don't get where that 2mm is coming from????
  17. If I could just lose twenty pounds off my butt and gut, that would be like gaining nearly 3% HP throughout the entire rev range!
  18. Or are the brakes keeping it relatively centered?
  19. That would only make sense if the spacer was only 2mm thick, right?
  20. Thanks again OrangeOkie! I got my $25 front tire yesterday!!!
  21. Yeeeehoooo! Got my tire yesterday! Not bad for $25!!!!
  22. I googled and she seems to be engaged to Jay Mohr. Just what the world needs, Mohr-Cox engaged and in Love.
  23. I think there may be some other technology on the horizon. Like Skeeve said the head could be improved. Other possibilities include getting the phreaking air/fuel mixture correct. Catylitic convertors. Ceramic pistons, valves, and cylinder heads. Thermostatically controlled fueling and ignition timing. Closed loop WBO2. Fan cooling (cheating a little) Oil cooling (cheating a little more) Bottom line is it is just a bit more R&D and more phreaking gadgets and complications to malfunction and confuse.
