    Thank's Jaap!

Hope you don't mind if I borrow your other avatar Memories of this image help me keep my focus on the road Do you think people will now read my posts thinking it is you? I think you should use something more like this:
  2. What are you talking about?!? Kickoff is not until five and a half hours after meet time!!!! See you there, square bear

Yes, gforrest posted a simple question about war, which baited in the need for people to share their relative conflicting truths. You were very civil and behaved.
  6. An aquaintance of mine used perforated aluminum sheeting to form the tube of his glass pack slip on, for his Suzuki. It lasted about a year and started disintegrating while were riding blowing shrapnel into our riding path. Granted that is in the direct path of the exhaust gasses...

only if you slow down (but technically they create heat even cruising along without breaking...which is why the rear ones wear out soooo fast....time for the annual RatchetHack Ritual brake treatment! )
  8. ShockProof Heavy is pure snot! well not really. They don't say what they put in there, but it works like the best premium synthetics with added Molybdenum Disulphide (MOS2) ...And ShockProof comes in prettier colors than MOS2!

And thanks for not banning Ratchet and me from 24/7. I hate censorship, but I like keeping this forum about bikes, riding, not-too-offensive humor, etc. And some of us can't control ourselves if baited....BECAUSE WE CARE. I should run out and get some brake pads so I can ride tomorrow....
  10. One of my best work buddy's daughter is named Avalon, after Avalon Harbor. She just graduated from UC Berkeley (Coincidentally where Jason and Sonya got their PhDs) But she is a city engineer or something, not a chemist, PTL.
  11. I have the Convertibars on my sport and really like them. I suspect I feel a little more vibration with them. The rise is just about perfect for me, but could possibly be a little higher. I should order the longer front brake line just so I can try going higher. for me, the clutch and throttle cables aren't necessary unless I want it to sit upright.
  12. Do you have pictures? Stout is good
  13. Do you mean the stock Guzzi ones or the Guzzi Ergal ones? I have heard the stock brake pedal snaps easily.
  14. Just use good metal stock. Many metals will deform under pressure of the axle nut getting torqued. After my first blunder, I tested the aluminum tubing that I used by cranking down on the axle nut while the axle was off the bike. I used a little extra tubing to take up the slack. The aluminum tube was easily crushed. I did the same test with the better aluminum alloy and it maintained its length and did not deform in any way. Some steels are too mild, like black pipe used for gas pipe in houses, industry, etc.
  15. Hey, Ratchet and I never start arguments....except for maybe the K&N one, and maybe one of the ECU spin off threads.... I almost miss Jaap's censorship...
  16. I lived in Canada for maybe three years, had British step siblings for a year or so, visited Canada often, along time ago...and my Dad is Canadian. Is Canada any better at avoiding unjust wars, not really, they are just smaller in terms of people, money, and world policeman factor. I don't read Hilary. She reads my postings here. Unlike Hilary, I am so much further to the left that I am not sure there has ever been a just war. Maybe the Indians defending America, although that was more of a massacre than a war. WWII if the cause was to liberate the death camps, but that was not the cause....but we certainly had a right to defend ourselves and retaliate for Pearl Harbor. Invading Iraq would be justified, if the purpose to bring human rights to Iraq....sorry, that was not the purpose. Vietnam and Korea, if the goal was to make the Communists more humanitarian...sorry, that was not the goal. On torture, I dream of and perhaps naively believed in an America that prohibited torture. That apparently leftist ideal is what seperates us from the barbarians that burn bodies and hang them from bridges, as TX posted. There is plent of evidence that the Bush Administration condones torture. Is it enough to convict them in court? Not likely. On invasion of privacy:
  17. Sure you could of, if you prepared yourself by ritually bleeding yourself every month, and every week torturing yourself with EpiLady or hot wax. Congratulations! BEST PICTURE I COULD FIND OF A CIGAR...
  18. Way to go Jaap! I suppose you are no relativist. Chasing away the only beaver to visit the forum other than Aussie Kim and maybe two others. ...or maybe one was not a beaver but a puffin And now I guess I can't trade my bike in for a Norge unless I want to depart in shame.
  19. But it is relevant. Just as 60,000 Dutch may have joined the Nazis, I think it is relevant to understand why. I often ask Germans what they thought of Hitler's Naziism, the death camps, etc., and I generally get a brief, inconclusive answer, like, that was my grandfather's generation, period. But I want to know if people knew about the Holocaust death camps. Not to disrespect for making such a horrible mistake, but I think we have to realize that it could happen again. Today we know that the US government uses torture and illegal wiretaps and bombs cities killing thousands of "innocents", but these actions are still justified by GWB's SLOWLY dwindling supporters. They believe the ends justifies the means, and for all I know, I could be wrong and Saddam was a year away from nuking Israel. I think it is highly unlikely, but being a relativist, I understand that there are elements of Truth tha support that paranoia. I always felt if I was in Nazi Germany, I would have rebelled against the Nazis and tried to liberate the death camps. But here I sit in the good olde USA, ashamed of some of our actions, impotent to stop the actions. The Nazis killed many million in death camps. The US has only killed a handful, presumably by over-zealous guards. How many more innocent Arabs being locked away and killed will it take rise up against this shameful behaviour? And in Europe, there is a rise in anti-semitism...no incarcerations, and few if any murders, but it is alive. The UK has also not been innocent in there methodology in the war against the oil holding countries.
  20. Centauro They are pretty cool because of the adjustability. Unfortunately I don't think you can turn them to the rearset position.

  22. Don't be a stranger!!! How about doing it right here? Perhaps Jaap could make you moderator of the Breva/Norge Forum Besides http://www.breva.com/ is already taken by a wheel chair company But if you want to do it your way, on your own, all alone, without us, we'll understand
  23. From one of the greatest and most under appreciated threads on the web: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5537 Pete says, The spacer is about 112.5-112.6mm The distance between the bearings is about 112.6-112.8mm The spacer should be about 112.9-113.2 BUT you should measure yourself, if you want accuracy. JRT could probably get you set up with an inexpensive aerospace spacer
  24. Ryan posted these right http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...ype=post&id=775 and left http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...ype=post&id=776 from this thread http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...opic=2590&st=15 These are also interesting: Made in England Info here: WeBikeWorld.com

    Ohlins?

Oh yah, the the Balbabio probably has the later Marzocchi which may be closer in quality to the Ohlins. Has anyone compared both Marzocchis? Perhaps it is better sprung and damped right off the showroom floor There is no substitution for proper setup, but for the LIE comfort without bottoming is your goal. If you take the BQE or the FDR, you need STIFF SPRINGS(or a Quota) to prevent bottoming, unless the city got its act together(I have not been there in 9 years, but I have fond memories of the LIE in a Pontiac Catalina...I guess Ghost Motorcycles in Port Washington is gone.) On a side note, the LIE in Summer willl shorten your engine life if you don't split lanes, or do something to mitigate the heat. Get the ECU re-mapped or a PCIII or even just have the dealer make the trim a little richer(than EPA regulated) to help reduce low rpm engine temperature. Perhaps a manually activated fan on your oil cooler may help, too, although the problem is more head temperature than oil temperature.
