Here is the full post. What am I allegedly missing? The BS? Calling me daft and saying I am not paying attention. C'mon Skeeve, you have more class than that. -

Amazing! and you are calling me daft! -
When I pulled mine there was no oil on it. As for the maps, I don't think anything can be determined about air gap, but we do see that the MGS01 (that has no emission requirements) does no leaning after 50C while the V11s continue to lean it out. Could this be for emission testing??? I think so. I am convinced the 99-01 V11 is too rich when cool and too lean when hot. Is it because of air gaps or plastic vs. Brass? Maybe it is both, but I think the best solution is mapping, but yah, not everyone can afford Tuneboy, Directlink, or MY15M. Even with mapping, the ultimate fix may involve insulation of the sensor, conduction at the tip (or air gap???), and shielding from weather.

G'day Bruce, As I understand it the V1100Sporti that shipped with the brass holder, had pretty bad fuel injection problems. If you didn't have a Creedon Chip or similar they often did not run well. Maybe some of the problem was the brass temp sensor????? I have had the plastic holder on order for several years now. If I don't get my issue sorted at the map, then I will be CAREFULLY installing it, if it ever arrives. It did not take much torque to break the holder. It is about as strong as a 2 or 3 mm bolt. From that perspective it is certainly crap, but from the perspective of feedback to the ECU, it may be better at higher temperatures, but as Pete pointed out there is an issue of V11s running too rich when warming up, that is helped by conducting across the gap. I think the answer is in the mapping, but even if optimized, the mapping can't compensate for all conditions such as rain cooling the sensor.

FWIW Tony aka rologuzzi has a 2003. I started getting idle problems after switching to the brass sensor and have suspected that it gets too hot. The most consistent symptoms are missing at slow speeds and if I ride on the freeway at 70+MPH take an off ramp to a stop light and stall. I am betting that 1999-2001 V11s don't do well with less air space, or brass sensors conducting too much heat. Looking forward to Ratchet's results.

You might also wanna try teflon tape on sensor threads, which will insulate a little and increase the air gap a little. But yes it will side track the air gap theory, but not the overly hot theory.

I took a look at some of the other maps available from Tuneboy and it is clear that later models (2002+) had much milder engine AND air temperature compensation. The MGS01 was especially mild with zeroes in from something like 50C to Maximum I'll be trying a Scura map (since I have Scura mufflers (and Ohlins that really effect fuel mixture requirements (JK))) EDIT here are the maps, from top to bottom, MGS01, 2002 US V11, 2000 US V11.

Allegedly he broke his had doing that and still stuck the landing! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robbie_Maddison

No pics please!

Imagine how fast you would go wearing a propeller beanie!

Yah and the 225kmh with a big fatty like Pete at the helm ain't bad either, unless he farts in which case it is cheating. Are the Griso Speedos as bad as the V11S early Veglias for accuracy? I know mine is off by more than 5MPH at freeway speeds, and top speeds may be even worse.

Some states are worse than others. In NY I got pulled over 5 times in one month, and let go each time, because each time I was less than 5 MPH over the limit. Driving while young may have the suspected crime as I was 17, and they were looking for registration illegalities as it was that time of year. In Northern CA I got two tickets in one weeked, both 65 in 55. In Southern CA I have ridden nearly 50,000 miles without getting pulled over. (knock on wood)

Obama has the best pre-presidency track record on domestic civil rights of any elected US president (perhaps arguably) ever!!!! (that I know of). What is this bad track record that you are alleging? As for hoping that his hands are too full dealing with economic problems, I trust you are not implying that you are hoping he does not QUICKLY fix the economy. Or are you rooting for his failure?!? -

Yah, I guess it is better if the skirts are prettier and chase him. Arkancides will be replaced by Palestinogenocides, continuing us down the path towards another 9/11 EDIT Not saying Palestinogenocides didn't occur under Clinton or any recent US President. Nor am I agreeing that Arkancides occurred, just as I can't say the Bushocides definitely happened. But otherwise Obama's intents look great and he is already making positive changes by outlawing torture. I suspect he'll also be weak on gay rights, but nobody is perfect. Apparently fisting is the new cigar in the oval office http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neCIg0BiXbE -
You have to read between the lines Just kidding! Let me simplify: We both agree that the Moto Moda Sloppage Sheet® is a good thing that will help protect your engine.
-
But I'll suggest AND recommend that one buy one, with nary a reservation whatsoever. Best windage sheet available for the V11! 1) Most importantly, it greatly reduces the risk of oil starvation by blocking the sloshing motion of the oil, helping it remain available at the pickup!!! (Especially effective as you pin the throttle in low gears, while going up short steep hills) 2) Reduces oil consumption! (results may vary depending on cause of oil consumption) 3) Increases power! (if only slightly, but I'll take every HP I can get) 4) Best of all, all you cheap bastards will appreciate that it is NOT a REAL windage tray with flaps and appendages that would raise the price to the affordability of only the chosen few...but it still reduces windage! (Pete calls it a sloppage sheet because its primary purpose is reducing the oil's sloppage away from the pickup, and technically it is made from sheet metal, not plate metal) Unlike Ratchet, I have not had three years with my sheet, but I have had my sheet long enough to notice the decreased oil consumption. The template/prototype mild steel sheet that Pete gave me(for free!), that I modified is not the same as Ratchet's but the principal remains the same, reduce the sloppage and windage. No, mine is not made of the nice stainless steel, and it probably won't protect the pickup quite as well, but I am still super happy and only regret having not done it 40,000+ miles ago. Get one now all yee Guzzisti!!! After all if Ratchet and I can agree on something (although disagreeing about the semantics) it must be TRUE!
-
I stand corrected. But that begs the question, do POMs floss as infrequently as Brits?
-
Finding flossing so tedious, it is no wonder you Brits have such bad teeth!
-
Truth is subjective and faulty as mine MAY be, it's more more close to the truth in the reality we all share than ratchet's truth. I neglected to mention my sheet to avoid complicating what should be a simple matter, that Pete did not say his is not a windage tray, he said it is not a REAL windage tray. By your saying that Pete said it is not a windage tray Ratchet is inaccurately representing his words and misleading the reader into believing it serves no windage functionallity, when in fact it does. Pete doesn't care about this descrepency of words but I do.
-
That is pretty important, I would think. I hope they add that feature.
-
OK it is not a windage plate and I am just hallucinating. I'll go piss off now.
