  1. Difficult to diagnose from that info. My first suspicion would be the battery, because the repeated restarts may have given it a workout, and the cold weather probably has not helped either. But when my battery weakens, I don't get clicking, the starter engages but fails to turn the engine. So, to me it sounds like your starter or solenoid may be bad. Is the clicking from the solenoid or the starter relay? Starter relay is notorious for problems. But you said you switched the five pin relays around, so I really don't know. Hopefully someone else will have better ideas. I would check battery first. Is it an AGM battery, like a Hawker? Recheck relays. Sometimes starting a different way will change where the electrical loads are and provide a clue as to where the problem is. Having both gearbox in neutral and kickstand up helps insure that ignition system is getting good power. Also, you may have a bad clutch switch or bad starter button. Try starting by doing the following, gearbox in neutral, kickstand up, starter button in, but clutch released. Pull in clutch to activate starter, releasing starter button after it starts ( if we were to get so lucky). Best of Luck
  2. I care! Who is the "they" that we have to straighten out? I trust Agostini's people over them.
  3. http://cannonracecraft.com/catalog/product...51ca1e98d9bb5ed or if you have questions about availability, etc., by phone Bonnie at (405) 524-7223 I think they made the spring big enough to not bind on the biggest bosses. Can anyone confirm? If you read through the five hundred posts on the matter, the answer is somewhere.
  4. Darn, there goes my dream of buying the Moto Guzzi brand and factory for $1
  5. Go for it! Thanks for the feedback. FWIW I have not heard of any great problems with the stock ECU on the V11, but I have heard the 16Ms on the V1100Sporti would sometimes die and had other issues resulting in popping at certain rpms. The 15M mapping can be greatly improved on, but it is reliable and when remapped it works about as well as possible without adding on more sensors. But I don't see a real need to do that.
  6. Thanks, I did not know it was so easy. Maybe we should have been using the megasquirt years ago!?!
  7. Great movie! I also liked his movie Nicky the Stripper Not sure if I liked his movie, Nietzsche, maybe a little too violent for my sensitive nature. More movies starring Nickie, please!
  8. Here is a counter argument to the gross misrepresentation of the prius compared to the Hummer. http://www.pacinst.org/topics/integrity_of...rsus_prius.html Also, I find it hard to believe a Scion would burn less fuel per mile than a Toyota Yaris or a (Mercedes) Smart car. The Yaris is basically a Scion but with a ~20% smaller engine.
  9. Thanks Skeeve, that may explain why Greg describes his cushes as chrome-moly hard while mine are about as soft as my tire or running shoe sole Look at that, maybe we were arguing about nothing, again. Drill baby drill, all yee cold weather riders, but I still think the acceleration cush pads needs fewer holes. PS Let go of my Eggo!
  10. Has anyone done that with a Guzzi? Is it customizable enough to support a V90° twin? About $400 US, not bad. You'd have to build your map nearly from scratch, would could be a fun challenge. It opens the door to other options like MAP sensors....very interesting...
  11. On a whim of the day, my top five: 1. Led Zepplin's Stairway to Heaven 2. Iron Butterfly's In a Gadda Da Vita 3. Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody 4. Jimi Hendrix Experience's version of Bob Dylan's All Along The Watchtower 5. Neil Young and Crazy Horse's Hey Hey My My into the black But there are a lot of contenders so tomorrow it may change EDIT The Who's Baba O'Riley My Generation (the first punk rock hit?) may replace on of the above, but which one???? See the "church quartet with stage fright" rip throught it at Monterey http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0XknwXqLDo...feature=related EDIT2 On another whim: Butthole Surfers - Sweat Loaf Talking Heads - Psycho Killer Ian Dury and the Blockheads - Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll The Clash - Guns of Brixton Nirvana - smell like teen....
  12. The first step is to find the source of the leak. cleaning, and riding will usually show you wear the leak is. A digital camera can go wear your head can't. Some use baby powder to help reveal the source of the leak. In my case I could not find exactly wear, but I could narrow it down to limited area. My gearbox leaked along the second seam from the rear. I had to pull the rear cover to access the allen heads inside the case. I tightened them up, reassembled, using the Permatex that never hardens, and all was good. Keep the sealing goo thin. There are no gaskets and the tolerances are critical. I still get a little leaking from two circles on the left side of the case, but it is a very slow leak.
  13. The spare car dying (overheating) was real. The first one running out of oomph (available amps from batteries) was a misleading lie (or journalistic error). Read the Guardian article linked in jihem's first post.
  14. I guess nobody knows? I am sure Greg does, since he has seen them feathering off in the direction of deceleration. My splines at the rear wheel still look new to me after at least ten rear tires. Maybe I need to look closer for signs of wear???
  15. My check went to Obama. Amazed I had anything to give after king George Bush and the Republicans damaged the economy. Watch out Obama is replacing bureaucrats with AGW believing scientists! Crichton rolls over in his grave...LOL! Science not media hype has shown that man have had an effect on global warming. Modeling has shown that weather extremes will be a result of greenhouse gas build up, but that does not mean we AGW believers are proven right everytime there is a record breaking drought, rainfall, hurricane or temperature. It is simply consistent with the model. If you wanna buy into news stories that suggest a cold spell means their is no global warming, that is your choice, wrong as it is.
  16. Despicable indeed! In the video they say they worked out it would run out of power after only 55 miles while they dramatize it running out of power. Shoddy media production! They thought it was a little heavy because of the battery. Surely they could produce a car with half the range with a lot less weight and much lower cost. Battery options could make a big difference in marketability.
  17. Thanks for reminding me of Steppenwolf. It got me searching Youtube where I listened to many great songs and found so much good stuff and connections between singers. I found Donovan talking about John Lennon's Jukebox that contained the following songs, that seemed kind of appropriate when discussing making a list of the five best songs. Maybe these weren't Lennon's top 40, but maybe they were??? Disc one "In the Midnight Hour" by Wilson Pickett "Rescue Me" by Fontella Bass "The Tracks of My Tears" by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles "My Girl" by Otis Redding "1, 2, 3" by Len Barry "Hi-Heel Sneakers" by Tommy Tucker "The Walk" by Jimmy McCracklin "Gonna Send You Back to Georgia" by Timmy Shaw "First I Look at the Purse" by The Contours "New Orleans" by Gary US Bonds "Watch Your Step" by Bobby Parker "Daddy Rollin' Stone" by Derek Martin "Short Fat Fannie" by Larry Williams "Long Tall Sally" by Little Richard "Money (That's What I Want)" by Barrett Strong "Hey! 18. Sorry, getting back to the topic, which splines wear out? Rear wheel? Fly Wheel? Engine side? tranny side? Shaft drive? tranny out? bevel in?
  19. I guess not all of us have cold toes. I just got back from ice skating for the first time in nearly 25 years, what a hoot! I told my wife I was as good as the kids out there skating backwards and doing hockey stops. What a crock! I fell three times, could not get moving over 5 mph, and could not figure out how to stop. I think I'll stick to motorsickling, unless that global cooling trend escalates to the point that I am ice skating to work down the Penasquitos Creek.
  20. Assuming that there is another dominant force causing the change other than human activity, it is not logical to extrapolate changing human activity won't change the outcome. Almost all scientists believe we can change the outcome, but disagree how much we can change the outcome. What difference does an inch make when the water rises a foot? Putting effort towards mitigating the consequences of climate change is an excellent idea, but it does not mean we should not take efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Efforts to reduce greenhouse gases also reduce our dependence on the finite source of fossil fuels.
  21. Clear proof global warming is over??? Look at that curve, look very very closely and notice how it can appear, if you squint hard enough to have premonitions, that since 1997 we have turned back towards the ice age: (sarcasm intended)
  22. Could be. I guess we'll see how it plays out. Are the bikes warranted, were they assembled in Mandello (not likely), were they assembled by BB or MG??? From what I was quoted for a Big Bore Kit, it is much cheaper to buy a kit and modify a new Griso (and much cheaper still to modify a used V11) And much cheaper to just get a big water cooled Aprilia or Ducati.
  23. Merry happiness to all!
  24. What did I read that right!?! One of your junk scientists admits that CO2 sways global temperatures!?! (albeit less than solar variability) FWIW Automobile sales are down, high oil barrel prices drove gasoline consumption figures significantly downward for the probably the first time since the 1974 gas rationing and my furnace went on two months later than last year. Maybe these Winter storms are evidence that Kyoto is working!!!!!!!!! No, it would be ridiculous to make such an assumption based on limited evidence and the Winter storms are not evidence that global warming does not exist. Even Ratchet admitted that global warming existed, but after a big Winter storm his posts suggest global warming is over. The people on this forum are too smart to fall for it, cold as our toes may be.
