  1. TX Redneck taught me about http://www.imageshack.us/ It is Free!!! unbelieveable! I downloaded the image you posted, and uploaded it to imageshack I took the direct link that it gave me: http://img218.echo.cx/img218/7687/trannyleak5bv.jpg Clicked on the IMG button, pasted it in, and then clicked post When you post to imageshack it also gives othe url link data for posting to forum and doing thumbnails etc, but I could not get that to work...just posting the direct link works well enough. Using the ImageShack helps keeps Jaaps costs down. Avatars are big bandwidth hogs. Click on my avatar or the photo above and you see that it goes to an imageshack server.

    solenoid

That is usually true assuming you have narrowed it down to being the starter or the solenoid...as it kind of sounds like he has...But it could still be a bad battery, the clutch switch or relay syndrome or whatever...I guess you would just test for 12+Volts at the solenoid when starting. I am not sure exactly how many volts would be bad, but I would be suspicious of less than 12V... although I guess if the starter draws current the voltage at the solenoid will drop. I guess I should test mine while it is working.
  4. Richard100t just posted that the tip of his spline just broke off. See http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5160 Perhaps the two of you could salvage together his case and your good parts. I am not sure how compatible they would be. And it would only help one of you...although the other could get some cash...
  5. And if you go with Tyco's get the A1001-A403 as it is the five terminal version. All the sockets can take the five terminal version but only four of the five can take the four terminal version (A1001-A402) Of course the four terminal version works fine, but it reduces your relay swapping options in a pinch. The odd five terminal relay socket is the one for the starter/lights and it will not take the A1001-A402. So, just get the A1001-A403 and a GEI or two for five terminal socket. The Bosch are fine too, for all but the five terminal socket. If you don't want to support China and GEI you could always bypass the relay socket and wire in a larger more robust relay from your evil country of choice. I wonder if Jamaica makes relays...
  6. I can barely get an accurate measurement on my bike. But here is what helps for me: Drilling holes in the dipstick has really helped. You must pull the stick out straight Tipping the bike away when retracting the stick helps reduce false positives. Counting the number of turns in helps predict when it will break loose when you unscrew it. It is a bitch to balance the bike, so I usually just check it with the stand down which gives a high reading. If it drops below my drill hole about 2mm above my high mark then I bother to check it more accurately, ie. standing upright. But note, my bike tilts more now than when it was new...sagging sidestand I guess... I believe the brand of oil that you use can make a difference.EDIT a difference in the consumption, not the sagging My dealer put in Maxxim semi-synth and I burnt very little, I put in Motul 5100 4T 15W50 full synth and it seemed to burn about as much as you just experienced. The dealer put in Maxxim again, and little burnt off. Now I am using Repsol 4T 10W50 full synth from http://www.buymoto.com/ and it has dropped very little in 1500 miles. Now it could be that with the Motul I had measured wrong or oil or air was trapped some where, but it was a huge difference of maybe a full dipstick (Low to High mark) in 2000 miles. I keep mine at the top mark to reduce the chance of oil starvation durring up hill accelleration. I'll bet if I lowered it, I'd get a little more power. It would make an interesting test at the low and high marks on a dyno
  7. Whoever said removing the airbox cover "will suck the paint off the bottom of your tank" was almost spot on! FWIW my aluminized material started to peel and I used rubber cement to readhere it. But I'd bet that 3M stuff holds up to heat and gasoline better... Glad it was a minor problem, too!
  8. I beg to differ. The GEI made in China is the only relay that I have found that could hold up to the abuse that the Starter relay in my bike endures. Your mileage may vary. (If you don't use the flasher or the horn, and the headlight, you might not have a problem) Using Bosch or Tyco or RadioShlock is apparently fine for the other relay sockets. If you modify your headlight to be activated by seperate relays, then I would agree and use the Bosch that Dan used to sell. Or better yet, if you can find a relay that fits our sockets that is rated at 20A across the 87a terminal, let us know.

    Second bike

I guess it is time to modify your signature...Maybe you could make a top 11 instead of to 10 dream bike list. I don't think I want to own a Japanese crotch rocket, but I would love to get to know one for about a week, just to explore the power, etc. What is the most comfortable Japanese crotch rocket under #500?

    Second bike

just between you and me, nobody is listening, right?, I sometimes regret not having married a BMW...or Ducati...or BMW...or Ducati...or... ...and would not be suprised if THAT BMW is the greatest naked ever built! But I am not into cyborgs A bike that does fit large riders is the Quota. If they put the Breva 1100 engine in the Quota with a sixspeed box and a little better front forks, undertranny exhaust and a narrow tail-section with availabilty of GIVI or HB saddle bags, I'd be all over it.

    Second bike

Ben, you ignorant, unfaithful slut! Have you been reading Motorrad fluff?!? You my friend need to see a marriage counselor. There are BAD influences on this board and elsewhere who taunt us with tasty hardware. YOU MUST RESIST!!!! Don't be tempted by that Teutonic/Bavarian Whore with her unnatural attributes and communicable stench!!! Faithful as she might be for a person of great wealth, you are NOT, so stick to your beloved and shower her with the attention that she deserves...you will not regret it! My humble opinion, your mileage may vary.
  12. Perhaps you should take them up on their offer: " all you bike owners can have your bike displayed here, just send it to us with a short summary... comm@moto-euro.com " But then again they might post HeliJim's MGS01 photo with your bike's description! Anyway, I liked the fluff. We get enough of the bike's problems on this board. And besides, it is the most completely new engine since the Sporti! Balance pipe, higher compression and oil sprayed on pistons, a Revolutionary change for Guzzi! But I guess that make the Breva engine even more completely new...albeit Devolutionary. Did anybody see the latest Moto-Euro Guzzi at the Arizona Rally? I thought I read that they were supposed to have something nice there. I don't know whether it was the old FBF modded bike with more mods or what...
  13. The ones that Mike Stewart posted the link to. Might not look too bad if you blacked out all the clown makeup. It would be tough to beat this boot for protection and coolness. But a little too "cool" for old geezers not on a race track. Perhaps the street Air Sida that you showed offers good protection, comfort and better looks
  14. Did you write that, Al? I like this song(freakin' Canucks!): by: Guess Who American Woman ============================ American woman, stay away from me American woman, mama let me be Don? come hangin?around my door I don? wanna see your face no more I got more important things to do Than spend my time growin?old with you Now woman, stay away, American woman, listen what I say American woman, get away from me American woman, mama let me be Don? come knockin?around my door I don? wanna see your shadow no more Chorus: Coloured lights can hypnotize Sparkle someone else? eyes Now woman, get away American woman, listen what I say-ay American Woman, said get away American Woman, listen what I say Don? come a hangin?around my door Don? wanna see your face no more I don? need your war machines I don? need your ghetto scenes Chorus American woman, stay away from me American woman, mama let me be I gotta go, I gotta get away Baby, I gotta go, I am dying I? gonna leave you woman (4x) Bye-bye (4x) (American woman) You?e no good for me And I? no good for you (American woman) I?l look you right in the eye And tell you what I? gonna do You know I? gonna leave, you know I? gonna go You know I? gonna leave, I? gonna leave you woman Goodbye American Woman
  15. You could black out the raised white letters on the Sidi Vertebra Airs, or What the hell, punch holes in the leather....but that may be tricky to do without ruining the boots integrety and your own as you go from clown to hobo. But seriously if done properly you could improve the ventilation...Which gets me thinking, where do they get perforated leather from, perforated cows???
  16. I am looking for something of the same. I have a pair of Sidi Symaptex that are great in wet weather below 60F and a pair of vinyl raceboots that I thought were leather. I need something as you described. Sidi's Vertebra 2 air says it is good for sunny warm weather, but it has raised white letters... Bates leather carries some boots that appear not to be vented, but not water proofed either. http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-boots/
  17. VERY nice. Are you going for the individual cylinder tuning on a PCIII USB?
  18. 1-9) What Steve said, FWIW I have experienced every thing on his list except the crank rod recall and note that later bikes had steel oil cooler brackets, Oh, and just replace relays with the GEI relays 10) Clean rear brake piston 11) Check your bearings and spacers 12) Check the eyes of your shock for cracking or replace with Ohlins 13) Replace the oil breather line that goes from rear upper engine to frame above the coils 14) Swap the seat latch spring with the idle up spring(unless they got it right) 15) Pull the headlight bulb shield off before it falls off. 16) I know I am forgetting something... I suppose you could replace the valves and the bad gear spring. And here are some things to watch for that you cannot do much to prepare for: Rubber throttle body mounts start to crack as does much of the rubber doodads. I have also had my alternator and oil lights fail at the socket. I had the heavy wire thing break that helps you activate the side stand. I have replaced the battery after four years...not too bad but I suppose if I charged it more often with a 'recommended' charger it would have lasted longer. Lower oil drain bolt was stripped the first time that I pulled it...tighten with care... The clamp that holds my rear shock adjuster is cracking... My front brake switch failed. My rear tail light socket failed. Replacement complete taillight from Buell was under $30. (Sorry Guzzi Dealers, NOT!) Turn signals broke where bolt holds on, replaced with Buell rubber mounted, more durable against quick tugs of a bike cover or brushing by with your leg, but heavier and they sag like they need Viagra®. You could replace the valve stems and that gear return spring.
  19. What is CWhlPw and ECETrq? How does the Hobbsport dyno compare to the Dynojets in the US that measure in SAE HP? I noticed the Torque and HP do not crossover at the same point....
  20. Very Interesting. Since you both have the balance pipe, you probably both have the higher compression pistons. In the US, I believe the balance pipe and high compression pistons got on to the the LeMans in 2003 and the Nakeds, etc. a bit later. I suppose it makes sense that the Stucchi would not be needed as much if one has the balance pipe. And the higher compression engine should put out more torque, but I am suprised how much more. Sometimes I really wish I had a later bike....but they are all good.
  21. Here is a picture I took of Slowpoke's Quat-D. And a bigger picture if anyone wants to see the slim look of the bike http://www.scripps.edu/~dlaing/v11s/images/slimfurias.JPG and http://www.scripps.edu/~dlaing/v11s/images/furias.jpg

    Redline in 6th

    You Maniac!
  23. Now you have me more perplexed than ever. Do both of you have the front balance pipe? I would guess that Guzzirider has the balance pipe and higher compression pistons, but suprisingly not much more power. I suppose other settings like valves and TPS are not identical. In any case, the torque is impressive on both bikes
  24. IMHO Redhook is Much better than Sam's. Pete's Wicked is about the best thing we import from the East Coast. The West Coast has many choices, most of them much more flavorful than Sam's: Redhook, Mendocino, Humboldt, Anchor, Stone, and Sierra Nevada to name a few of the mega micros. But there are so many great beers to choose from: http://www.beeradvocate.com/top_beers.php But I must admit there is nothing like Budweiser to wash down Doritos and beer nutz., like Coffee or Milk for Cookies
  25. The mid-range dip occurs at WOT. But the valve inefficiencies is an interesting topic. Are other bikes better designed in this respect? "You're a butterfly And butterflies are free to fly Fly away, high away, bye bye" -Bernie and Elton
