  1. It is scary how well they work. I am sure that if you had a bell mounted, half the stuff would not have broken on your bike and the butthead's civic would have taken some of the damage. But be ware, "Karma is a bitch, bells will only help if you be good!" --Harry Christchna
  2. In my earlier post I was gonna ask how come they are soooo smart that they knew to ground the lead, but not smart enough to quickly figure out the rest of the problem???? Now we know... Good luck with the moves guys. Al, maybe you should buy Carl's house??? Then you could justify an FJ for commuting
  3. I think he is saying that in Europe, EVERYBODY is SEXXXY! and that in the land of the free, only the women are sexy and men too homophobic, I mean very Macho!... All the same, I have not seen anybody on this list, from either continent, paint their bike pink, even if we refer to our bikes as 'she'. In America it would be the ultimate theft deterent!
  4. Only if the sidestand is down. ...one good reason to bypass the sidestand safety switch. ...but one reason NOT to bypass it, is that it is in fact a safety switch. As for Joe's bike's problem, it should be pretty easy to test as Jason (JRT) suggested. If it is intermittent it may require more patience... One test would be to wait till the bike is in neutral, but with no light, and too simply put the sidestand down. If the ignition dies, the switch or whatever activates it is likely bad. If the ignition continues, it is probably just a bad neutral light bulb or socket....or the sidestand switch has already been bypassed... As for the mystery spot, I have got to check it out....
  5. I'd say $9000 out the door would be a fair price. Hell, I paid $11,000 for my y2kv11s and I get sh^t from people for not paying $12,000 to make my local dealer 'happy'... give me a break...do I have to be a sucker twice over?!? Of course in 2000, many paid MSRP, before Aprillia dumped the bikes on the market. Now the bikes are cheap, but the parts have gone up in price due to the dollar, etc.
  6. LMAO! Alright Ben! Watch out Ben Afleck!!! ...and great free advertising for Budweiser! I hope your work buddy doesn't get in too deep for leaving the keys in the ignition. I once left the key in my V65, went and sat in my car, just in front of the bike, and was going through the glove compartment for papers, when I looked in the rear view mirror and some guy had mounted my bike. I hopped out of the car and he took off on foot... The bike was stolen a few months later...probably the same butt-head...I got it back, but the bike was never the same...
  7. 4300? W Oak Hill Dr Chandler, OK 74834, USA, Earth, The Solar System, Milky Way, The Universe, Veils of Maya, God's eye, The Matrix. (It is amazing what you can find with Google! )
  8. Carl's house probably went up 184K in just the last three years! I bought into the frenzy last year and so far have made more on the house than on my job!!! But the honeymoon has got to end sometime, and Carl's timing to get out is probably perfect! OK!
  9. Sorry Carl, i have to get off my @$$ and send you my extra ECU.
  10. Is your dealer located near the Santa Cruz Mystery Spot?
  11. My money is on a bad ECU ground or what Ben said, about them forgetting to connect a line. Probe for continuity between the ECU shell and the battery negative. Then probe the middle wire of the three way Amp test connector to see if the continuity is good to the battery negative. If not a ground issue, then looking at the hot side, I assume the engine is cranking, so it is not the clutch switch. It is not the kickstand switch because they could just put it in neutral, and vice versa for the neutral switch. In which case exwtk is right on the money. But then again there are other possibilities. Which chef double dipped the soup spoon!?!
  12. Good question! I saw that bike parked there when I visited SF in January. Amazing what that fairing does for the Sport.
  13. Kinda like Goldie Hawn's 'plips' I am learning all kind of words today, like carapace! Studious!
  14. Not sure, but according to this site, http://www.hfmus.com/HachetteUSA/Page.asp?...ld&Page=Special it is on display May through August and is an annual release of "Sport Bike", not a monthly release of "Cycle World". But as Todd said, it may be at your newsstand today or soon.
  15. What is a carapace? Is that the tail section? Or the seat cowling? Or???
  16. Airtech does EXCELLENT work. I bought my R90S fairing from them. Super Light! They told me that anything they have a mold for can also be made in carbon fiber or done at various weights of glass. The quality of their fiberglass work is sooo good, there is no need to go to carbon fiber unless you need to ship it by space shuttle and save a couple of grams... I swear that I must have doubled the weight of the fairing after four coats of paint....what a shame, but the Hammerite® paint looked good So, now that I think about it, the carbon fiber would be alot lighter just because I would not have to paint it....
  17. Ok, time to make more enemies, or not, if they can take criticism. I love you Paul and Rich, but I have been biting my tongue about your seats... On a scale of 1-10, strictly aesthetics: Stock seat with Cowling, 9! hard to imagine anything better, but the recent Vincent may have had the tailsection that all others should bow down to and worship! Stock seat without cowling, 7. Rich Maund seat takes 0 to 2 points off either of these configurations, depending on how he does it...But a fair trade for comfort. Paul's tail, 7 with cowling, 5 without. And I would take more points off for losing storage space, but I am only numerically rating aesthetics here. Paul's seats look nice but he is taking the bike one step away from retro. Sorry, but I want to head toward retro, not away. As for the AV Moto seat, I'll give it a 6. It looks clean, goes with the lines, is not as refined as Paul's nor Guzzi's, but it keeps the bike looking retro, and the hard edge is kind of trick. Not an improvement, but I would not call it ugly. And if I was five feet tall, I would have it ordered by now. Oh, yah, and I give my Corbin an 8
  18. Tricky problem. Keep an eye on the neutral light while starting. The neutral light going out will tell you if the neutral switch is bad. Otherwise, starter relay, kickstand relay or clutch switch are the most likely culprits. It sounds like the kickstand switch is doing its job, as it worked when it was down. I am going to assume that the neutral light is working and put my money on the sidestand relay. The relay failing will not effect the Neutral light. Note the term sidestand relay is misleading as it is really a neutral relay, designed to bypass the current when the sidestand is down. Your symtoms indicate that the current was not bypassed. You may swap relays with an identical one. But make sure it is identical. The starter relay requires 5 contacts, while the others require 4. Somewhere in the forum is listed which relay is which...

    Helmets?

I have an Arrow convertible that I am happy with. It is noisy but very well ventilated. But I think they went out of business. This Caberg double visor is pretty slick looking!
  20. Most dealers can tune the stock ECU, but there are limitations on what they can do to tune it. They can not map it unless they bought mapping software, and I do not know of one authorized Guzzi dealer who has the mapping software. Simply tuning the ECU, rather than mapping is good for changing the mixture with a broad paint brush at idle with an effect tapering off into the lower RPMs. Tweaking the TPS is usually used to trick the bike to run richer in the lower and mid throttle ranges. Once you get above about 80% throttle, there is no effect of the TPS tweak, nor the ECU 'tuning' on the mixture. If you are adding freeer flowing mods such as the FBF airbox kit or louder pipes, chances are the greatest leaning in mixture is going to be at high RPMs and Throttle positions, where you can do little to tune it. I suppose you or a qualified dealer could boost the fuel pressure for the most even broad sweep of enrichment. But if you look at almost any PCIII map you will see that the stock map is both too rich and too lean for just about any modification. Also, beware that if your dealer tunes the ECU to run better with your mods, and you subsequently try to go to a PCIII, you should have the dealer bring the ECU and TPS back to Guzzi recommended specs. This is essential if you wish to use a map that was generated on another bike.
  21. Oh, and Todd usually tweeks his maps adding like 5,10, or 15 at various RPMS at 0 percent throttle. Does anyone have a map where he did that? I can't remember exactly what he did, but it could help your flutter when you back off on the throttle.
  22. It sounds like your idle bypass screws are set a bit off. I am not positive, but I think you need to turn them in a bit. If you do, document EXACTLY how much you turn them in. A throttle balancing device is almost essential here, but it would not hurt to turn them both in half a turn and see if it gets better. If it gets worse, I was wrong and you may have to go the other direction. You can always return it how you had it, unless you mess up and forget the number of turns...
  23. That should look nice. In my opinion, the only part that should not be blacked out is the beautiful headers and or valve covers. kind a like a woman hiding her D size under a load of clothes You may also find that the Buell smoked turn signal lenses may help you in your pursuit of darkness.
  24. Slowpoke, we should go riding sometime. My chickenstrips are nearly an inch wide, so if you live up to your name we should not be slowing each other up too much. I live in Mira Mesa, but mostly ride Palomar, Mesa Grande, Old Julian hwy, and sometimes Borrego. Sometimes I hook up with Sonny Angel Sunday rides.
  25. So, if your battery lasts less than two years, it must have been a Poser battery
