  1. Let me rephrase that idea. Fuel filter fits are critical where it comes to the hose fitting the fitting. The rest of the fit is not AS critical. ie diameter and length of filter are not as critical as that for an oil filter. I would not use the type of inline filters that were used on carb motorcycles and cars. But, probably any filter made for a fuel injected engine that has the same Outter Diameter hose fittings will work fine. Of course I could be wrong and flow capacities and pressure ratings may vary greatly. Any idea if there are any issues other than hose fitting. Carl, should I take my fuel filter listings off of my website?
  2. speaking of girls, about the only shameful thing you could do to a Guzzi is to cover up the jugs. Personally I think the throttle bodies are the ugliest things on the bike, except for the rider
  3. Not sure how reliable my info is but from some list (cant remember which) I came up with the following apparently cross referenced against the Napa Gold 3008. TBIG"A" 95008, Beck/Arney worldpart 043-0660, Hastings GF106, Bosch 0-450-905-021, WIX 33008, VW-AUDI 431-133-511 & 431-133-511A ps I suspect fuel filters are not as critical for fit as oil filters.
  4. John Dalthaus just posted at http://www.guzzitech.com/HRBassa-John.html his experience with a dual plugged Bassa. He went with the 1.5 Ohm coils as recommended by Dyna.
  5. I'd love to see your dyno results, Jack! Are you going to have it posted at Guzzi Tech Dot Com Your first dyno makes an excellent benchmark for before and after results. PS How much did L&L charge? They quote on their webpage only $20 for a dynorun. I imagine they charge a fair amount more to remap the PCIII.

    mirrors..

I could not see behind me with my V11Sports stock mirrors. I replaced them with Napoleon bar end mirrors and it was no longer a problem, but I have a new problem the image in the mirror is blurry at freeway speed..... Some people mount the Napoleons to the brake and clutch lever assemblies. This reduces the blur, but I am not sure you can then see directly behind you. Perhaps someone could comment on that. Others use hind sight bar end mirrors. Not sure how well they work, but many are happy with them. They look good and have an option for lane splitting.
  7. I think currently FBF only has a crossover available for V11 Californias. It is an H-pipe.
  8. They look good to me! Does anyone know if there is a product out there that would activate the brake light when you slow down quickly with just the engine brake? I was thinking a mercury switch to detect forward G force coupled with a throttle position sensor detecting that the throttle is closed may toggle the brake light at about the right time. Or a sensor measuring intake vacuum. Evoluzione could market it! I bought a more standard LED brake light about a year ago and still have not mounted it...
  9. I heard rumors that Dyna was recommending 5 Ohm coils to replace 3 Ohm coils. To find out the ohm rating, just measure across the two terminals (not the high voltage terminal). I'll bet someone already knows the value. My other concern is that even if the Ohms are the same as stock, might the total current flow be higher because of faster voltage rise times, reduced paths of resistance to the spark plugs, or higher capacity of the coil, resulting in the ECU possibly overheating??? Does anyone know or does anyone have a specific dual plug pair of coils to recommend????
  10. I am not positive but I think you need atleast 3 Ohms otherwise you may toast your ECU...
  11. Hmmmm, interesting.... I got a little better results by going here http://knfilters.com/universal/univsearchin.htm and entering: panel type filter Dim A Range 8.0-8.8 Dim B Range 4.75-5.3 Dim H Range 0.5-3.0 The result was part number 33-2006 Dim A 8.125 Dim B 5.250 Dim H 1.250 Perhaps a loose fit??? by fattening up the search I found that 33-2682 is 8.875 x 5.250 x 1.063 perhaps a tight fit???

    Bar ends

I just turned the allen wrench and my bar ends unscrewed. Woodburn, what happens when you attempt this?
  13. Good idea Lex, Perhaps I am off base and there is no way that axle would bend from damping differences, soooo, If I can find two other posters with the same problem that I have, I will go ahead and start a Poll. So if Your early V11 wears the left side of the front tire faster than the rear or in a cupping like pattern, but mostly on the left, please post your experience. And if you know your damping settings that may also be relevant. Thank You! So Rich, is your tire wear symetrical? I am not getting anywhere near your type of tire mileage.
  14. Very Nice! Let us know what you find out. I found silmotors' website where they listed about every bike except Guzzi.... Cool Flash site though! Motostrano also has a great site with lots of specials that make me wish I had a Ducati...
  15. And if you wonder where the rectifier is, it is built in to the voltage regulator and is located between the horns above the oil cooler.
  16. I don't no nuthin' . I just try to assume the best of people
  17. I think it is probably a feature. I have trouble seeing any of my lights in bright daylight. It would be nice if the lighting had a day mode and a night mode. The Oil and Alternator lights are supposed to be the brightest. The High Beam is supposed to be the dimmest. Perhaps the yellow tranlucent filter is too opaque. I would not mess with it though. The trip meter is the way to go. If you use it, you can also calculate your fuel consumption! I fill up every 130 to 150 miles, or top it off before leaving civilization. I get nervous about running out after 180 miles.
  18. PS No need to apologies about being gay. We are all open minded here.
  19. Buzz, if you want to use your bike as a guy magnet, the chin spoiler will only help a little. A Moto Guzzi is an excellent choice for picking up quality men, just be sure to keep your Guzzi clean. Chrome accessories help. If you just want get one night stands with easy to dump losers(Raiders Fans, etc.), get an FJ1200, a V-Max, or a Harley. Good Luck! (But don't forget to where protection when you go riding)
  20. FWIW the irregular wear is only on the front tires that I have tried. The direction of the tread is another factor in the wear pattern that I am getting. I have never had this problem on previous bikes. If the Scura and the Lemans with the fatter axle are immune to the problem, then my point may be valid. Another test would be that increased rebound damping would aggravate the issue. I don't doubt that you are correct about the differences between UK and USA.
  21. They match the lines of the bike very nicely. Cool!
  22. When I had my forks off the bike, I pressed down on each fork and noticed that the compression adjustable fork had no apparent rebound damping. As for the compression damping, I could not tell as my effort was trying to overcome the spring. This inbalance makes me want to get a fork brace, valve reworking, or Ohlins. Not that it handles poorly, but I think the uneven tire wear on the left side of the tire is a result of the unbalanced damping. I have looked at three other v11sports and noticed wear on the left side of the front tire of each of them. The 2003 Lemans has the thicker axle which should reduce that effect. Assuming I am correct about the imbalance causing the tire wear pattern.
  23. sounds like the idle may be too rich causing carbon build up to promote the pinging. The rich idle may prevent the hot startup. Make sure the dealer has adjusted the valves to atleast .10mm/.15mm, has balanced the throttle bodies, has checked the TPS, and has checked the CO at idle. It should be richer than the factory recommendation, but not by a lot. Go on a long ride to burn the carbon off. If that does not fix it, you may need to remap with ultimap or Power Commander. Cleaning the connections to the ECU and to the sensors, may also make a difference. What RPM does it ping at? Mine used to ping at just over 5000rpm. I think it was caused by too rich of a map in all the wrong places. but I could be wrong.
  24. An easier solution might be the Mistral crossover. Check out the Dyno charts at http://manleycycle.com/Tech.htm#MotoGuzzi Also if you use the raceco specs for valve clearance you will ge a little more low end.
