The 1200S is a nice improvement on the Breva and Norge, but it could be so much more. Just imagine that engine in a street legal MGS01 Or wait for Griso 8 valve http://www.maxmoto.co.uk/images/Moto%20Guz...so%208v%20m.jpg Still, the MGS01 is about the only design on the horizon that would make me buy a new bike again...although it may be too sportlike, while the 1200S is probably the perfect balance of sport and comfort. And dammit they need a nice retro series, with an El Dorado styled bike and a V7Sport styled bike.

Yes, the error of your thinking is thinking outside the box. Inside the box is a three prong female H4 connector, the fourth wire that you see on the outside goes to the 4W dipped light. The beaver kit gives you a male H4 connector that attaches to the existing female connector, and a female H4 connector at the other end that connects to the H4 Bulb. You then simply run a ground wire and a wire to battery. Cheaper than the headlight enhancement that brunette had done. Although some, like the Norge, come naturally blessed and need no enhancement to satisfy even the most demanding.

I highly recommend this modification to anyone who rides at night on a pre-Breva Guzzi Six Speed, and to anyone with the early six speeds where the lighting eletricity flows through the weak, normally on, side of the starter relay, regardless of whether they ride at night. If you install a higher watt bulb(not that I recommend that), the difference will be even more dramatic. YMMV

I suspect most of the spark 500s were rebadged Hawker Genesis G13EP batteries. Your's unlike mine was marked PC545, so maybe it is a rebadged Hawker Odyssey PC545. Here is a photo of the Genesis G13EP http://www.gotbatteries.com/images/SLA/37L141S3.jpg According to the product notes for the Genesis at www.gotbatteries.com "For motorsports applications use the Odyssey battery. The Odyssey was designed for rugged vibration sensitive applications with thicker plates to prevent cracking and premature failure. The warranty on the Genesis doesn't cover motorsports installations. " Also, FWIW the published specs on the Genesis G13EP more closely resemble the Spark 500. (I looked all three up a long time ago)

Not bad. I give him a 9.7 .1 off for bending legs .1 off for putting hand down and .1 off for not holding on to sweater. But otherwise, perfect, bordering on miraculous. I hate big brother's red light cameras, but I imagine they really can make a difference in court when both parties claim the other ran the red light. -

Goood morning. Yah, I think you are correct that the solenoid is bad. But I don't have the confidence to send you off to buy a new starter solenoid... Which raises another question: Does one have to buy the complete starter??? Anyone else agree that it is the solenoid?
-
How perplexing. I suppose if the number 4 fuse blows, your bike must fall under the later wiring diagram http://www.thisoldtractor.com/guzzi007/sch...t_Catalytic.gif It does appear that the starter solenoid is the problem, but it could still be something else and the solenoid is just the feather that broke the gooses back Too tired to think straight.... zzzzzzz

I don't know how and probably don't have the ability to put in FAQ section, but here is a start: It could be improved. I wrote that the data in the graph was from that website, but I did not mention that I also put that data into the table shown, and I could include the hawker data in that chart, and maybe color the numbers in the table to match the colors in the graph. And I did not label the degrees F.

Yet somehow some will manage to criticize both those that don't have the perfect spring sag and those that buy the Ohlins...perhaps living in a narrow spectrum of going beyond mediocrity....maybe it is an obscession with keeping a tight budget More money to ya.

From what I can tell damping and dampening can both be used to refer to the supression of oscillations, but damping is more common. Damping seems to be much more popular for refering to shock absorber, but not exclusive. But to damp or to dampen seem more interchangeable when discussing suppression of oscillation. Damping does not seem to be used to describe moistening, unlike dampening. Definitions of dampening on the Web: * The resistance caused by fluid in a shock body when the piston moves through it. www.geocities.com/h3ath3ry/dictionary.htm * moistening: the act of making something slightly wet wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn *Dampening refers to the musical technique of muting an instrument while playing it, or soon after, before it has lost its sustain (stopped ringing). It can be used on a wide variety of string and percussion instruments. This may be done with a mute. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dampening Definitions of damping on the Web: * The process of minimizing the noise emitted from a coaster. www.geocities.com/RollerCoasterTalk/definitions.html * Damping is any effect, either deliberately engendered or inherent to a system, that tends to reduce oscillations. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damping * The progressive reduction or suppression of oscillation in a device or system. Viscous damping uses the viscosity of liquids or gases to effect damping. www.geomechanics.com/dspapp.cfm FROM WORDNET http://wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn Verb * S: (v) stifle, dampen (smother or suppress) "Stifle your curiosity" * S: (v) moisten, wash, dampen (make moist) "The dew moistened the meadows" * S: (v) muffle, mute, dull, damp, dampen, tone down (deaden (a sound or noise), especially by wrapping) * S: (v) dampen (reduce the amplitude (of oscillations or waves)) * S: (v) dampen, deaden, damp (make vague or obscure or make (an image) less visible) "muffle the message" * S: (v) damp (restrain or discourage) "the sudden bad news damped the joyous atmosphere" * S: (v) dampen (check; keep in check (a fire)) * S: (v) dampen, damp, soften, weaken, break (lessen in force or effect) "soften a shock"; "break a fall" Noun * S: (n) moistening, dampening (the act of making something slightly wet) The same happens to me, so it is better say damping when talking shocks and besides, if I say, "I need to adjust the rebound dampenininiinging" the technojargon nazis attack me even if they are not correct.

Excellent!!! That is exactly what I was looking for. Here is a link to directly download the excel sheet with the temperature compensation: http://www.uuhome.de/william.darden/SoC.xls Some browsers may need to right click and select save linked file option. THANX!!!

Ratchet, you may borrow my forks if you wish. And while you are at it, you may wish to map the air spring effect at varying oil levels, if you are so curious and ambitious. Not sure if this diagram helps

That looks very nice

The Quat-D weighed more than one stock muffler, but less than the combination of one stock muffler and the stock crossover(without catalyst). Probably about half of the combined crossoover and two OEM mufflers. I weighed by feel, not by scale.

The Rossopuro solution is only 75 Euros. http://img175.imagevenue.com/img.php?image...l_122_267lo.jpg Did you make the arm, too?

Here is another promising option: I think it was designed by the guy from WP that designed Wilbers and HyperPro. But this is a newer, more improved design. GuzziTech.Com will be selling them. At the moment they only have price for the dual shock Guzzis. http://www.guzzitech.com/store/YSS-Suspensions.html

IHave got iCal, so iAm ok for periOds longer than 24 hours, as long as iDon't rely on the accuracy of the iCal iCon in the iDock, that currently says iT iS the 17th. -
I have had both the Mistral round carbons and the Quat-D ex-box. The Mistrals give more power above 5000 RPM and the Quat-D seems to give more power below 5000RPMs If you add a Stucchi Crossover to the Mistral, then the QuatD may only gain in lower rpms. But note, I had and early Quat-D. Later ones develop more high rpm power. The Quat-D made the bike more fun, but slower when trying to go over 100MPH. I would happilly trade back to the QuatD. The Mistral should be very similar to the M4 in performance, unless you get the quiet version of the Mistral. I know nothing about the durability of the M4, but they look darker and glossier than the Mistrals, probably with a heavier gloss coat. The Mistral carbon seems fine, but is a rough finish that slowly yellows with UV exposure. But I am still happy with the appearance of them. I sure have seen worse carbon. Some early Quat Ds have been known to crack, but the late ones should be fine, from what little I have heard. PS Wick's post reminded me: My early Quat-D sounded metallic, not as warm and melodic as the Mistral. From the recordings I have heard, the newer QuatD sounds less metallic, more agressive, but warmer. The Mistral is louder to neighbors, the Quat-D is quieter, but possibly louder to the rider, because of the outlets proximity to the rider. The sound of the Quat-D increases as you lean to the side of the exhaust outlet, as the sound resonates off the asphalt, and decreases when you lean the other way. Riding along a cliff wall also has a nice effect. I have not listened to M4s.

It is dlaing, not dingaling But otherwise, good point. (I certainly get lynched enough around here...It is tough being a maverick )

He is offering excellent prices. If we compare: http://www.harpermotoguzzi.com/mufflers.htm MG9112 Aluminum $695.00 MG9114 Carbon Fiber $795.00 But they are not forum sponsors like http://www.mphcycles.com or the other sponsors that offer other fine muffler options. Rossopuro sells Quat-D and maybe others. Mistral sells Mistral. Teo Lamers sells others...Lameronis???? (Please note, despite my moderator title, I am only a spaminator, and the view(however you may interpret it) reflected in my post does not likely represent the view of www.v11lemans.com) I would not be surprised if the forum administrator might consider prohibiting commercial posts by non sponsoring dealers. (historically he has pretty much allowed it) But a group buy does not seem like a big money maker, and it clearly benefits the forum readers....although it would clearly take profits away from struggling Guzzi dealers and our struggling forum sponsors.

If the ones that are older than you could remember mounting tires in the sixties, this thread would have at least 20 more posts.

You should see my garage When I ride my bike I don't want to know what time it is. Durring the time when I don't ride, I have access to your Saint Nick of Time
