  1. Awesome! Thanks Pete. (...and entertaining to boot! )
  2. Gosh, yeah I hope so, as that's only about 100 miles before reserve al
  3. ....OH GOD, MY EYES!! MY EVER LOVIN' EYES!!!!
  4. The PC just changes the fuel/air map, much like different jets on a carb. Depending on your modifications, you can get a "generic" map that is made for what you have on the bike to take into account the necessary fuel/air requirements, or you can go to a Certified Dyno Center and have a custom map made... which is better, but around $200. That's the high-level.... Hope that helps al
  5. It's hard to say for sure "remotely" .... but I'd guess you might want to turn compression damping down a bit.... take it for a ride, and see what happens. al
  6. ...heh, isn't that how is always goes? You go and buy the "thing" and then cheap offers come out of the wood-work Good luck on the bike projects Jaap, and can't wait to see how your fairing conversion goes, especially in combination with Paul's tail al
  7. I'm happy to do the Oil Filter and Fuel Filter FAQ, but it needs to get a bit "summarized" Can the few that have tried different filters successfully just send me a PM with the relevant info(and which filter it replaces, fuel or oil) ...and I'll throw it together next week. al
  8. Mike Stewart put some reverse cone mufflers on his a while back, and soon took them off as they were apparently horrendously loud and obnoxious(his words ). But yeah, I think Zil(sp?) makes a set for the Ducati Monster that one could "make work", but I've never seen it done al
  9. heh heh... well said I guess it's the epitome of "form following function"
  10. Ahh, well if you observe more... please let us know. I continue to be curious. I'm hoping that we can get at least 180-200 miles total out of the 2003 tank under ideal conditions. As far as the K&N filters, yeah I love them! Who knows if they really make an performance difference, but they sound cool ..... and they allowed me to ditch the airbox, which I think is a big plus(just for under tank logistics alone). I like my big cylindrical K&Ns better versus the smaller conical ones, as they seem to have more surface area and incorporate the intake plenum into the filter itself. They also fit PERFECTLY behind my side covers, which I really like. The only reason the covers are off now is that I prepped the bike for the motor rebuild, and just figured I'd get them out of the way for the dealer. No sense in leaving them on, just to get broken, or be in the way al
  11. I hope you mean 120miles "solid" before the light comes on ....otherwise, that's awful mileage. I've put nearly 180 miles on a tank at the extreme, but of course that's well after the light was at full "power" To me, any modern bike with notions of any type of "touring" should be able to get ~200 miles out of a tank, and certainly no less than 150. al
  12. BTW, Antonio... hope your transmission is fine Sorry to hear that you've had trouble with it al
  13. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Moto I works closely with TLM and also gets spares through TLM, at least that's what I've been told. So if TLM hasn't got it, it has to come from Mandello. A few weeks before it arrives in Holland and the it takes a few more weeks to arrive in the US... So my guess is it's not only MGNA's fault. I think what Dave meant, and what I've experienced as well, is that all warrantee parts must come through our distributor, which is MGNA... and approved by them as well. Otherwise the shop risks losing the cost of the parts/labor if they do it on their own dime assuming it will come through. So in the end, although we could buy a new part ASAP, waiting for a warrantee replacement can take a looooong time. al
  14. ....wow, so many "off topic" questions Heh, no worries, let me see if I can answer them all in one post ...yeah I know, I know... I'm pretty concerned about that myself. It might negate all of my "performance mods" Not sure what to do about that yet. I'm thinking about building up a CF "deflector" in front of the badge (Good one John ) Heh, yeah, this is the "star crossed" Corbin V11 Seat More here: Forum Corbin Seat Advisory FAQ BTW, I haven't spoken to the Corbin folks since last year on this. Has anyone taken their bike back down to the factory to have them make a new version that fits the 2002+ bikes? The still erroneously state on the website that the seat doesn't fit the new "LeMans" models, while not clearly and correctly stating that the problem is with late model V11 Sports of all varieties Jet Hot my man.... Jet Hot No "cleaning" necessary Forum Exhaust Coatings Thread Well, thanks for the thoughts, advice, and kind words! I found them all very helpful, and once the used 2003 tank comes in, get's painted, etc... I'll post pics. Well, that's not really a surprise is it? Now I just have to decide whether to put a metallic gray or red stripe on top of the tank where the OEM stripe is on the 2003 tank I'm leaning toward the same gray that's on the various bodywork. al
  15. Well, although I haven't seen one in person.... based on the Rosso Corsas I have seen, and the photos of the Nero Corsa.... I would guess it is the red and gold Moto Guzzi oval logos
  16. Rizoma reservoirs, but I had to go get some rubber/metal bushings from a motorcycle wrecking yard to make their brackets fit the threaded mounts on the bars, and stay in place Anyway, I like 'em, but I have to replace the observation windows in them, as the original plexiglass ones cracked. They sent new ones, but they're sitting under a layer of dust on my work bench That's next on my project list, along with installing the speed-bleeders al
  17. Here's a side-by-side comparison.... ...just as an aside, I agree that in the photo the eagle badged version does look better. But in person, since the eagle is just a decal, and the "Moto Guzzi" is bas relief in metal(gold at that)... they don't quite "go" together so well as I continue to take it in over time Anyway, it's not a big deal. When I get the tank painted, I can always add the eagle later if I want to, although it's certainly better to have it under the clear-coat, I have several if they get knicked up. I'm starting to think that overall, the logo all by it's lonesome looks the cleanest Ahh well, I have several weeks yet ....after all, the tank just left England last week In any case, as I mentioned, eagle or no eagle... I was really pleasantly surprised by how good these things looked on the bike... like they always belonged there al
  18. Your wish is my command.... drum-roll please........... I preeeeesssssssssent...... "Al meets Al"
  19. Here is a poorly edited photo of the same, without the eagle decal But you get the idea So whatcha think, eagle or no eagle?
  20. ... heh Yeah, I like to keep it that way So, BTW, if anyone likes they way these badges look... as you can probably tell from the photos, they will just perfectly cover the original decal, so you can stick them over top in a few minutes They are $19 new each from MG-Cycle... and I've seen them for about the same or slightly less on eBay from time to time. al
  21. ...yeah, I think so too, and was equally surpised at how good it looked. Goes really well with the rest of the bike, much better than the original tank decal IMHO. But yep, the "eagle" is the stock decal. The metal badge is covering the silver "Moto Guzzi" decal in the photo. I like the eagle, but it might be easier to just go with the badge, and I think it would still look good either way al
  22. Well, I received the "classic" metal "Moto Guzzi" tank badges today, ground off the mounting pins, and flattened them out a bit.... and temporarily mounted one with tape for a "test fitting" to see how it would look. In my opinion, they look AWESOME... honestly, very classy. I can't decide whether the eagle decal is a keeper or not with the metal badge, but I think I can say definitively that I'll be using these metal badges on the new 2003 tank when I get it repainted
  23. ....the ones on Steve's bike(Rich's old V11S) are the old Guzzi factory "performance" pipes, which are aluminum.... apparently Mistrals, and *had* those ugly "for off-road use" badges on them. But being the fine craftsman and tinkerer that Rich was, some may remember about 2 years ago when he drilled off the warning plates, and had some very nice aluminum Guzzi eagle emblems made and rolled to fit the contour of the cans to replace the old badges So, hence my comment about: As an aside, I too like the sound of the Guzzi engine, and like my Leo Vince Ti cans, but I also wish they were just a shade quieter And I can't stand the straight pipe crowd... al
  24. ....some very nice custom Mistrals with a Rich Maund made custom "Moto Guzzi" plate at that But to answer your question, the Stucchi is indeed available through MG-Cycle, and according to the website is currently $295.95USD. If you order one, be sure to ask them to check to send you a "straight" one... as many are quite crooked from the factory Also, you can certainly change out the exhaust as you suggest, and performance will probably remain about the same.... maybe a little less torque/HP here or there, but nothing Earth shattering. The stock mufflers are quite restrictive, but indeed quieter.... but a LOT heavier too, if that matters to you. After the change, you can contact Todd Eagan at www.guzzitech.com, and I'll bet he can provide another map that's "close enough" based on your changes. After all, that's how Rich got the map you have on there now al
