  1. Yep Bonnie, that's Hank's bunch in Oklahoma, Performance Racing Springs... or something like that. I just received my two springs from them yesterday. But I'll wait on doing anything until we see what the final consensus is on what the best replacement is, or one of mine breaks. al
  2. Good luck on the Pingel.... Guzzi uses a reverse metric fine thread on the fittings for the tanks, and when I was trying to get an adapter for the pressure-regulator side, no one could get a tap or fitting that would match up. It's completely non-standard. Surprise Surprise The Guzzi manual petcock is just fine though, and seems well-made. It also has a large inlet screen area, and huge outlet. So I think it flows a reasonable amount of fuel. al
  3. I think you got your terms mixed up. I have heard many people use the terms engage and disengage one way or the other. I think we get it mixed up because the word engaging implies that an action is taking place, and we thing that our hand is engaging, but the term refers to what is happening with our clutch plates and not with what we are doing with our hand. I could be wrong but I have understood the following: Disengage means that the clutch lever has been pulled in. Engage means the clutch lever has been let out. So unless I am mistaken the guide is: Single plate clutch - noisy when engaged, quiet when disengaged = normal Dual plate clutch - quiet when engaged, noisy when disengaged = normal Correct ...you beat me to it
  4. Yep, it sounds like the delay is due to having to run a special batch of cases and getting them painted in the old finish since it isn't made anymore. al
  5. ...me too I especially like it when people look at me like the bike is about to fly apart or something
  6. Are you sure about that? Mine has been rattling with the clutch pulled in from day one. The dealer said it was normal, and my mechanic has never commented on it. 21,000 miles on it now. I suspect it wiil eventually grenade or slip someday. You have a V11 Sport.. with the dual-plate(normal) clutch. These all do rattle when pulled-in. The single-plate clutches apparently rattle when let out, esp if idling in neutral.... the opposite of the dual-plate clutches. al
  7. ...or just replace it with the manual one MG returned to using around 2001. Call Moto International in Seattle and just tell them you need the manual petcock for a V11 Sport. It's about $45, and will last forever al
  8. ...is this the spring we were recommending folks call "Bonnie" about? al
  9. ....well, even if in the wrong thread... for clarification, is this "Oklahoma" spring the one we've recommended everyone call "Bonnie" for? Just checking... thx! al
  10. ...heh, don't get me started on mega-buck college sports It'll be more spirited than Cap'n Nemo's and Moto's exchange al
  11. ... sheesh, you are in AUBURN? My friend that teaches at Tech just got his Phd in Econ at Auburn(...long soap-opera of local politics there on why the Econ Phd program was cancelled, but they still have a multi-million $$ football program I was just there two years ago Small world. al
  12. Where are you at David? My family is from Monroe, LA and a buddy of mine is teaching Economics at LA Tech in Ruston. Funny story: When my Grandpa joined the Navy during WWII, he was sent to San Diego for training. He really wasn't very "worldly" then, not really ever having been outside of Louisiana before, and was quite young... probably late teens. Well, while in boot-camp, he met up with fellow recruits and started chatting about where they were from, etc. And one of the fellas said, "...yeah, I am from L.A. blah blah blah". Well, my Granddad, being somewhat homesick and feeling very lost and alone at this point... perked up and said, "Hey, you are from L.A.?! ...so am I!" and struck up a conversation. However, to my Granddad's dismay and surprise, it soon turned out that the "L.A." that the fella was talking about was Los Angeles, CA ... not Louisiana. He was very disappointed al
  13. ... ...now that's a perfect tagline for some aftermarket Guzzi "tuner" to take and market. "Give us your bike, and we'll get the Guzzi out, so you can Moto!" Funny stuff
  14. Yeah, I'm not overly impressed with MGNA either. But I will say that as I peruse other manufacturer specific sites, even Honda, often the US distributors... if not even the parent company... for many of these similar issues also are problematic in a similar fashion. ...so it's not unique to Guzzi. ..maybe a bit worse for specific issues, but unfortunately not unique And of course, a lot has to do with the effectiveness and diligence of one's dealer. That can make a big difference. But of course, at some point, there is only so much they can do if Guzzi isn't cooperative al
  15. I thought you already had a set of the Cafe Sport Ohlins like Paul and I have?? If they are the same ones I bought from Paolo(who you picked yours up from) then they are the Cafe Sport forks already... the giveaway is that if they have a screw-in solid axle, they are the older Rosso forks, but if they take the larger hollow axle, then they are the Cafe version. What ones do you have? al
  16. I ordered two of the "Blackstock" springs a week ago, but count me in on a whole set of the "improved" springs if we get them... Mine hasn't broken yet(knock on wood) but I'll replace the lot if we get a good set. al
  17. Yep, AFAIK in the USA the 010 tire is still available.... at least I hope so as it's extremely popular over here. Interesting that you note the the Rennsports though as on one of the lists over here, someone mentioned how much they liked that tire, but that it was no longer available?? I have no idea... al
  18. ...who knows My dealer just got back to me after talking to MGNA. They said that so far my work isn't delayed, but they'll only know for sure a few weeks prior to the work as MGNA schedules the work and finds out if they have all the resources and funds available. ...doesn't sound like good planning to me, but alas So, AFAIK I am still on target for Jan/Feb I guess one significant issue that I can understand is that they are having to go back and paint these cases over again well after production of the finish ceased. At least if they get this right on the replacement cases, 2002 owners will have the rarest Guzzi engine finish One year... al
  19. ...my thoughts exactly. Having to "tap on the handlebars" seems to be a giveaway that it's the clutch switch bullets. For the last few months, I've had to turn my bars to the left "just right" to get the bike to start. It didn't bother me because I knew what the problem was, and knew I'd fix it later. Plus, it was a theft detterent The fix: I cut my clutch bullets off and replaced them with AMP weathertight connectors... you know, like the REST of the darned harness uses. All better al
  20. Here's another thread on tires, most sport-touring types still seem to prefer the 010/020 combo even here: http://suzuki.bayarearidersforum.com/forum...&threadid=50169 al
  21. ...naw, it's been high ever since last Spring, but I'm just now really looking into it since I'm going to get it remapped soon. The RPM didn't change when the second plug was "engage" as far as I noticed. al
  22. ....hrmmm I guess it's not the end of the world, but it's a little disconcerting since I'm used to the 1100-ish idle Anybody else? Maybe when it goes into the shop for engine case replacement they can put it on the computer and tweak it. I don't guess I can controll idle with the PCIII can I? al
  23. Have you heard anything new Ian? I forwarded an email to Moto Italiano with your exchange, but haven't heard anything... al
  24. Pretty funny Carl... "They're uh.... not too good" eh? BTW ...as an aside, did anyone take Paolo in Italy up on his latest pair of new Ohlins forks that I posted about a couple weeks back? al
