  1. I'm a "Mr Injector" fan. He cleans and rebuilds them for $17.50 each. I'll be sending my V11 injectors to him, as long as he supports cleaning the V11 injectors which I'd be surprised if he doesn't. http://www.mrinjector.us/
  2. Just as a related aside, what happened to the "anyone bore out a throttle body" thread? I can't find it. The forum "notifications" said my answer was set as "best answer of the topic" (which is kinda cool) but now I can't find the thread. When I click on that notification I get:
  3. Those look pretty cool. I could only use the rear nuts since I have the Ducati front hollow axle, but am curious what size and where you sourced the rear axle nuts. I agree that I don't think the point is saving weight, but instead replacing the corroding OEM fasteners... but not replacing them with something that introduces a more significant mechanical problem. So the Ti sound interesting.
  4. Great link, very fascinating. ....I love Fastenal stores. I can spend a long time browsing there.
  5. Any concerns about fastener strength or stainless steel galling when using these fasteners to replace the painted/zinc steel OEM fasteners?
  6. Just ordered a set from: https://www.onlinecomponents.com/omron-electronics/g8he1c7trdc12-42670683.html Mouser, Digikey, and Amazon still say unavailable.
  7. Corresponded with Fast Bike Industries, and seem like some knowledgable and nice guys. Their rear shock rebuild service is $160, which I think is a great deal.
  8. Thanks, will be interested to see which one. The one I find with a quick search is: https://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/stops-rust/textured
  9. Thanks, I've dropped them a note. Stig via Facebook didn't respond. So he may be fully retired.
  10. Have to admit that satin finish looks great. Maybe I'll consider that over time.
  11. Thanks everyone, but remember that the 2002 OEM textured black finish is not wrinkle, but instead more of a grainy "fuzzy" finish even when new. I'm looking for something that will reasonably match the OEM "fuzzy" finish as the engine cases are like new. Wrinkle finishes will not match, and as mentioned generally take heat to properly wrinkle. Thanks again.
  12. Like many of us with the textured "fuzzy" black engine paint, I have a few places where the paint is coming off. I had the engine cases replaced under warranty many years ago, but the transmission, bevel, and other miscellaneous parts are also painted with the original factory textured finish. So I've been looking around at various paint products, and wondered if anyone has tried any that are a good match to the factory finish and durable. The first I've found is the Harley Davidson Black Texture Touch-Up Paint part number 98606BF https://www.harley-davidson.com/store/touch-up-paint-pa-15-98606bf--1 Has anyone tried this product? Also, are there any recommendations for any aluminum primer to use under the paint?
  13. That's a good price! Looks like prices for these are finally coming down enough for the average owner to consider. We'll be very interested to hear how the brightness and beam pattern seems to compare with the OEM headlight and reflector. I know it will be somewhat subjective unless you have another V11 to compare it with side-by-side, but hopefully you can recall enough to note the difference.
  14. Andy, is this the same Stig Petterson that they're referring to above? Anyone have his contact information? I did a quick Google with no helpful results, although I did find a Facebook profile that looks to be him. I'll try that too although the profile seems to be dormant since around 2015.
  15. Thanks Andy, that would be mighty convenient given my location!
  16. Thanks for the quick feedback. It sounds like the best option is probably having a professional do the work. I've dropped Motiv an email.
  17. I have an Ohlins 46 HRCS rear shock on my V11 Lemans, that unbelievably is now approaching 20 years old..... not sure how time flies that quickly, but alas it does I just noticed this weekend that undoubtedly due to age the "white" bump stop inside the spring has turned to some sort of gooey clay that disintegrated when I hit with the water hose... and there's nothing really left So two questions, well maybe four: 1) A quick Google turns up lots of replacement Ohlins bump stops for rear shocks, but I'm not sure which one is appropriate. Any idea? 2) Is partially disassembling the end of the shock to replace the bump stop a DIY task, or do I have to send it to someone to rebuild? 2a) If DIY, any video, photos, or instructions on how to remove and reassemble the end of the shock to replace the bump stop? 2b) If it needs professional help, any recommended shops in the USA I should contact? I'm pretty handy with a wrench, so DIY is not a problem as long as I have some instructions and specifications to follow, oh and the correct part. But I also am a practical guy, so if a shop will replace it and give the shock a good once-over for "$100" ... then that may be a better use of my time, and peace of mind. Whichever makes more sense.
  18. Apologies, no I haven't had an opportunity to check into this issue any further. I've only recently "re-discovered" the bike upon taking on cleaning out the garage. So it needs a lot of rehab before I even get to tuning it
  19. Come on knowing that Moto Guzzi would replace the cases with new ones back in the day under warranty must have given some indication that it would have been a bit of a pain lol. But hey you are having fun. I do not recall that that is what Moto Guzzi offered for that defect. I recall that they would have the dealer "refinish" the cases, or the owner could elect for some compensatory accessories (a jacket or otherwise?). I know one owner who went through the painful disassembly/ refinish process and heard of others who opted for the "accessory" option. Anyone with first-hand experience? couple years late, but I have some first hand knowledge. I bought a new '02 in '03 and at a dealer (now outa business), was given the choice of case replacement or MG's best riding gear, or tank and tail bag with tail rack. I shuddered at the idea of my incompetent dealer rebuilding my great performing motor for just paint. I chose the riding gear and waited.......waited......... then MG USA went temporarily ass over tit, and I forgot about it. Fixed now, but I could have lived with it. Moto Italiano of San Jose/Santa Cruz (now out of business) did the factory case swap for me, and that's when I had the cams, pistons, etc done.
  20. We probably need an FAQ for this one day, something like "stage 1" through "stage 3" with the associated list of part numbers, tested power output & benefit, and cost. The problem is that the population of V11 Sport and Le Mans owners is so small that have tried various options and measured them, and distilling the parts list appropriately, that it is hard to actually produce such a list... as we've discussed over the years. But it would be nice That being said, I feel like I just commented partially on this topic the other day, and I did https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20253&page=3&do=findComment&comment=236884 From the thread "Camshaft recommendation needed": https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20253 And this on dual/twin plugs: https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=320&do=findComment&comment=2919 From the thread: https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=320 Hope that helps
  21. Those Stelvio's are nice, and yep some good deals to be had on the last year or so that are still on dealer floors.
  22. Ah yes that's right, I completely forgot about the Ventura system.... and I HAVE ONE! (I have never used it, in a box somewhere ) But when I did buy it, it seemed like a good tail bag option. https://www.ventura-bike.com/product/moto-guzzi/V-11-Sport https://www.ventura-bike.com/product/moto-guzzi/V11-Le-Mans I had the Tekno bags for a while, but just wasn't impressed with their overall build quality and was worried they'd fall off given their questionable bag mounting. I've never owned the Hepco Becker bags, but I'm sure they are high quality.
  23. Not familiar with that brand of luggage, and as you'll soon discover there wasn't and isn't much luggage or other touring parts that fit the V11 Sport and Le Mans.... the market was just too limited. That being said, there were at least two sets of side bags made to fit the V11 Sport/Le Mans: The "Tekno" bags, which weren't really all that great and are no longer available new. You can see a set here: https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6547&do=findComment&comment=190869 Hepco Becker made some mounts that their standard hard bags fit, and I believe those are still available. http://www.harpermoto.com/hepco-and-becker-complete-rack-moto-guzzi-v-11-650.526-00-01.html http://www.harpermoto.com/hepco-becker-junior-30-hard-case-set.html As far as other touring modifications, I'd suggest checking the FAQ section that has lists of bar risers, peg modifications, etc. Although fair warning, some links are long dead as products have ceased to become available over the last decade.
