  1. I only had two previous motorcycles, an early 90s very yellow Yamaha Seca II (Diversion) and 1989 FJ 1200 in blue/gold. The Seca II was a great beginner motorcycle which I didn't keep very long, but still kind of miss. This guy has done surprisingly great things with the underappreciated Seca II. https://advrider.com/f/threads/the-forgotten-yamaha-seca-ii.1080212/ The FJ 1200 was the first bike I really put serious miles on, riding all over the western USA. It really was a great motorcycle, fast, comfortable, good range, and reliable... although a bit top heavy for my height which led to many humorous tip-overs Unfortunately I don't think I have a photo of either, as that was in between the age of real film cameras and digital photography, and we had a significant hard drive crash around 2005 that lost a lot of photos
  2. Well, as we all know, HP is just torque multiplied by RPM, so it certainly could make a significant difference if MG raised the redline by 1k.
  3. What type of plier / tool is used to crimp these terminals ? https://www.amazon.com/IWISS-Weather-Pack-Terminal-Crimping/dp/B0732W6HQR/ref=sr_1_57?ie=UTF8&qid=1546212291&sr=8-57&keywords=crimper+terminal https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07476C1LD/ref=psdc_553392_t1_B0732W6HQR ...yeah, I need to buy a new assortment of "weather pack" sockets, seals and pins. I had a set for years but have consumed them over time on various projects. As I go through the Le Mans later, I plan to essentially replace anything that isn't a weather tight connection.
  4. And if one removes the 30A main fuse to replace with an external "maxi" fuse or circuit breaker, you get another free slot in the fuse block too.
  5. That Cortech looks pretty sharp, and is nice and low profile. Since we have a plastic tank, the options are more limited. But another interesting option is the Givi Tanklock, which is covered in this thread: https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17144&hl=givi And as covered in post 31 from that thread: https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17144&page=3&do=findComment&comment=217888
  6. That is excellent, and exactly what I was looking to collect! Would you mind cut/pasting that list to this thread also in case something happens to your location one day, and we can have that information here for easy reference?
  7. I didn't see this via a quick search, nor in the FAQ section: But something I've found very useful for other vehicle DIY maintenance is a simple consolidated list of bolt torque values. Generally, although not always, these torque values can be found in various tables and buried as part of some loosely related assembly instructions within service manuals. But that can be frustrating to search for when performing a repair, or just trying to prep for some assembly work. And sometimes no values are provided by the factory for some fasteners at all. So it might be nice to start a thread of fastener torque values as owners research and find them, and perhaps over time make it a FAQ. For example, I'll have to replace my front engine mount sub-frame at some point due to rust, and I'd like to know what the frame and engine mounting bolt torque values are.
  8. I believe the OEM Ducati Energia problems are caused by the Voltage signal from the headlight relay, its not stable, the Voltage drop can vary from ~ 0.6 to over 1 Volt. to nothing at all depending on the state of the relays. If you look at some of the later bikes they have a direct connect system. Look at this 2004, not a DE I wonder if they ever have regulator problems http://www.thisoldtractor.com/guzzi007/schematics/2004_V11_Sport_Catalytic.gif Interesting, I have no idea, but perhaps worth some thought. Here's the V11 Sport wiring diagram for reference: http://www.thisoldtractor.com/guzzi007/schematics/1999_V11_sport.gif So along that line of thought, are you suggesting would one provide reference power from F3 directly to the Ducati Energia regulator instead of from the wire that from the 1999 diagram seems to among other things power the brake light switches?
  9. Heh, no worries, my list is only the current motorcycle(s).
  10. This fella was blogging about his California Vintage up until just a few years ago. Not sure if he still owns the bike, or just hasn't posted in a while. He's in North Carolina. http://www.motoguzzicalifornia.com/
  11. An old topic, but "new" for me as I wasn't following the new models for a while there. Really like this last hurrah for the V11 California models, simple and mature quality technology, and classic good looks. I think if I were to get a cruiser, the black California Vintage would be the bike I'd get.
  12. Yeah, that's always a shame isn't it..... put all the effort into making something look good, then in such a short time it gets beaten up, even if you know that is going to be its fate. I think one thing that would make a big difference in protecting the finish on the alternator cover is a front fender extender if not already fitted? Powder coating may also be a bit more durable possibly. And then there is polishing it.
  13. Very sorry to hear about your accident. As mentioned, I'd search for comps via Cycle Trader, Craigslist, completed eBay auctions, and sites like the following: https://raresportbikesforsale.com/category/moto-guzzi/
  14. Have always liked Paul's custom tails for the V11. http://www.fastguzzi.nl/ ...just hasn't been in my budget before other things
  15. Yikes, I forgot about that. Does that make my swingarm worth more since is a CA bike?
  16. Well, technically Christmas day here in 15 minutes... and finishing up various surprises for the morning Merry Christmas to everyone as well!
  17. Ah, yep Dave from Sport Cycle Pacific, I bought some "velocity stacks" from them many years ago.
  18. I haven't tried this yet, but it looks interesting. Obviously one can adjust the valves with basic tools, but this might be handy and easier. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Moto-Guzzi-Valve-Adjustment-Tool-850-1000-1100-Big-Blocks-NEW/142165705809 Sold and made by eBay user: guzzidaveracing
  19. Not exactly for what you are searching, and I think referenced but not linked in the other threads, but interesting: http://archivio.animaguzzista.com/maestri/marabese/marabese.htm I've seen a few quotes from the interview already, but for those that get into "which color is the best" debates, I think this quote below from Marabese ends the discussion (Note: I do not have the chosen color, so no undue influence on my part ) But to that point, my initial introduction in the late 90s to the V11 was green/red, and that's what caught my eye ....although on the other hand, Marabese has said that the V11 Sport was inspired by the Gambalunghino, and though most of those seem to be all red, I've seen some with a silver body and red frame, and none I've seen were green. So maybe the debate about which color combination isn't so settled
  20. Wow, once again you are the best Pete, that's a fantastic offer! I'm not in a position to do anything with the levers for a while so I'll let you know. I may see if I can find a wrecked one uber-cheap first just to check if it physically fits. Crashed ones pop up on eBay every so often. But if I find that they do fit I'll check with you to see if you still have them. On the question of the clutch slave, how would we know if it would work or be a problem if the master and slave size don't match? Would it be a "feel" problem or cause damage to the seals (blowout?) on the slave side for example?
  21. Hrmm, I'm not sure that fairing clearance would be the case. I actually think that the fairing clearance is a tighter tolerance with the existing plastic reservoirs. Take a look at the photo below, and given where the integrated reservoirs would now be, I'm not sure they would interfere since they would be inboard of the grips and tight up against the bars. Though, it would also be an open question if the integrated reservoir would clear the clip-on pinch bolts. These levers with integrated reservoirs could be built to fit standard tubular (not clip on) bars. But to be sure, one would have to test of course.
  22. I've never been a huge fan of the plastic reservoirs on motorcycle front brake and clutch fluid reservoirs, preferring instead the all metal integrated fluid reservoirs as are often seen on cruiser or non-race-replica motorcycles. I know one can replace the plastic reservoirs with metal "can" versions, etc, and I in fact have some aluminum replacements from Rizoma. But even those seem like less than clean solutions than reservoirs that are integrated into the lever assembly. So I was wondering if anyone has tried fitting some of the integrated reservoir levers from one of the Moto Guzzi cruisers, or if no one has tried it, if you think it might work fine?
  23. Yeah, thanks, it's been broken for a while now. I need to remove the link from this signature and some others elsewhere. Tim (Pashnit) moved and reworked the site a while back, eliminated the old forum and also removed the various bike reviews. I didn't know about it for a while until one day I clicked and found the entire site gone. I actually just got the original text from him a few weeks ago, and he may host it again, or maybe not. There are a lot of better V11 Le Mans text and video reviews that have been created after this initial write up back in 2002 that are now available online.
  24. I'm sure it is buried in the 19 pages of this thread, so my apologies; but what fender eliminator and tail light kit did you use?
  25. Did anyone pick this up from Edge? I had a thread with dimensions for making my simpler triangle and under-fender extension, but Edge's is more complete.
