  1. I know there is not practical benefit in a street bike, but something about timing gears versus a belt is mechanically very cool to me The price is high though for the appropriate steel gears, and since I don't have a lot of "spare" money for the "impractical but cool" things, it's not likely I'll ever put them in. What's the story with his oil pumps for the V11 though? I don't know anything about the justification.
  2. Thanks Chuck, yeah I do all my own maintenance. Even if I wanted to take it somewhere, I don't think there is a shop with MG experience anywhere near me since I moved from CA to NC all those years ago. And even my old shop (Moto Italiano) out there is looooong gone
  3. The poor Centauro seems to be a love or hate it affair even within the Guzzi crowd But I have to say it has been growing on me over the years with its unusual styling and unique engine. I haven't had enough time to give the Le Mans enough attention over the years, so I don't think a Centauro is on the agenda any time soon either. But I've found myself researching the model, watching videos (there are few) and ordering old brochures. Anyone else have a soft spot for the Centauro? It would definitely be a unique bike to ride up on. I don't think they made or imported that many to the US. 4. Welcome! I have no idea about the cover, but my suspicion is that the MG cover probably wasn't very exceptional and of course is likely rare to find NOS now. However, I bet there are aftermarket covers of much better quality which may put manufacturer logos or other custom imagery on them? ....makes me think I may need to add that to my Christmas list. My garage is very dirty & dusty from various other work, and the roof leaks at times, so
  5. I think this will not be news to many. The following is an excellent video produced for maintaining the V10 Centauro, however there are many principles and tasks that are common or similar to the V11.
  6. Thanks for the update. I dropped an email to GB, but haven't received a reply on cost. Do you recall what the cost was?
  7. So, three years later, how is it holding up? I'm particularly intrigued by your observation that this aftermarket fender is keeping the shock and underside cleaner than the big bulky OEM fender. Is that sill your observation? Is there no/little risk in the fender rotating and "falling down" onto the top of the tire since it is only held by the shock mounting bolt?
  8. Currently the interesting cars are a 2006 Saab Aero Convertible, 1997 Jaguar XJR, 1994 Jaguar XJ12
  9. I ran across this while browsing.... V11 Titanium exhaust and ECU, part 973260900014 One doesn't see these pop up new in the box very often anymore. Guess someone found them languishing on a back shelf somewhere. Pricey, but as I recall basically what they cost when new. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Moto-Guzzi-V11-Racer-Exhaust-Original-973260900014/273553343016
  10. I sent them a message asking for clarification. Would be curious to know which kits include just better regulator, or kit for both improved stator and regulator and which is the best value. With running heated grips, electronic gauges, maybe charging phones, etc... there is increased load on the already weak system.
  11. I've been considering the Knight Designs drop pegs as well. Which ones did you get, the "spikey, off road" ones, or the "tire tread" style?
  12. The clamps are Renthal 28mm CL001-5 and the bars are Renthal Street Low 828-50, the Rox Risers are optional I wanted the bars further back, i also replaced the brake pipe with a longer Goodrich build a line kit, the mirrors are a pair of cheap items from ebay Thanks! I'm sure that will be very helpful for someone interested in making a similar modification.
  13. Are you asking for the Rosso Mandello or the Coppa Italia? I ask because your forum avatar image is a Coppa Italia. That being said, I don't know the answer to either the paint or decal question. But for the paint, most professional auto paint shops have the ability to match paint with a scanner. And although painting plastic was a bit of a specialty many years ago, most shops can paint plastic now since so many cars have significant plastic body parts. If no one here knows about the decals, you might try calling someone like Harpers MG to see if they know a source for OEM or even reproduction.
  14. Ha, of course... sometimes we forget more than we know today Hard to believe that 2004 was FOURTEEN years ago ... sheesh, have we really been talking about these bikes that long?
  15. Interesting, might be worth checking into depending on cost. Any idea on what they typically cost in the past, even if just ballpark? There may not be any huge benefit, but I can say that the gear whine on my buddy's VFR was great to hear
  16. Spring 2003 or 2004, in our back yard in San Jose, CA. Moto Italiano was just a couple blocks away then.

  19. Likely summer of 2002, probably within six months of buying the bike since the photo shows the Corbin seat installed.
  20. Fall 2005 when we lived in Cary, NC for a year.
  21. Interesting: https://realgaskets.com/ Aircraft engine support is no joke, so I wonder how well these work for our application. Anyone have any experience with these products for sump or valve cover gaskets? https://realgaskets.com/product-category/motorcycle/moto-guzzi/
  22. Not casting aspersions on anyone's love of beer, but curious if there is anyone else here that apparently has the gene that makes beer taste like the most awful thing ever? Seriously, I've traveled the breadth of this nation, and internationally; and at every stop someone simply tells me that I just haven't had their definition of "good beer". So I give it a try, but alas they all taste the same to me My local supermarket even has a free beer tasting station, which my wife loves, and I'll give yet another beer a chance. But nope. So I'm apparently just wired differently ....can't stand the stuff.
  23. By power do you mean torque or HP? IMHO the bike has enough HP, although of course if we didn't have to choose and there were no penalty, who wouldn't take more power? I realize the V11 is eclipsed by modern bikes from a power to weight perspective, but I've never felt that it was underpowered. After all, anything above about 75HP on a motorcycle honestly is a lot of power. Now, if we can get 20% more torque across the band (which of course translates to more HP at a given RPM), that is something you can use in the real world more often than high RPM or top speed HP. And of course, old time racers will tell you that shedding weight is cheaper than adding HP. So I'm sure it would be a much different experience if we shed significant weight. And that's seriously something to think about if the pilot's weight increases. Along with health, that's a quick win if the riders loses a few 10s of pounds. But all things considered, I'm pretty happy with the power of the bike, and if I had to choose I'd take the additional MPG. I've always been a little frustrated by the V11's relatively short range, especially in LeMans form. My friend's 1998 VRF routinely returned 40-50mpg and 200+ mile ranges per tank, where I was refueling after 120ish as I recall. In fact, I've often thought that if I were to get the Power Commander remapped, this time I'd have them work more toward a balance of smooth running and MPG than top end power.
