  1. Welcome David It looks like you, me, and citimoto are the only folks in the Carolinas with V11s on the forum(that I know of anyway). I am in Cary(27513), citimoto is in Charlotte, and you are in Davidson... so you two are relatively close. I am a bit of a haul. But maybe we can all get together in the next month(s). We'll have to all stay in touch, and see if we can get the word out for V11 riders in the NC area. What dealer did you use? al
  2. ...and apparently, no, there are no other V11 riders in the Carolinas... but that may be changing See the recent post by "davindav": http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6842 We may have to put together something this Spring for Carolinians if this keeps up al
  3. - iPod Shuffle, dock, waterproof case/lanyard, and auto FM transmitter/charger - Tivo ..... I know that sounds like the proverbial "bowling ball for an anniversary" present , but honestly, that's what she wanted
  4. Yep.... guess I missed the "cut" what with our Christmas trip Ah well, I'll go vote
  5. heh, I was "good lord-ing" at the rash of luck you seem to have with that bike
  6. You literally wash it with soap.... and wash away all the dirt, and oil that does the real filtering. K&N sells a cleaning and re-oiling kit. al
  7. ...not sure what "suggestions" you are looking for But definitely look me up once everything is all settled and we have some nice weather. I'll be out of town for the holidays, then travelling for business part of January... plus I'm sure that won't be "prime" MC'ing weather in these parts anyway. But definitely stay in touch. Once Spring breaks, and we've got some other personal projects under control(house building), I plan to get back "in gear" with regards to the bike, etc. Maybe we can try to corral the NC Guzzi community... if there is much of one?? al
  8. Yeah, I don't like that new aftermarket exhaust... doesn't follow the lines. ...but at least the aftermarket is already making options available. Although I'm not a huge fan of the OEM exhaust, it sorta goes with the bike. So it's not too awful... just awful HUGE al
  9. It's funny that right after I move, they have this show literally within walking distance of my old house ...but hey, I bet Moto Italiano liked it, as it was also within "walking distance" of their current(newish) location I wonder if they were there "representing"
  10. ....very cool You'll have to supply us with plenty of photos!
  11. But where do you get the velocity stacks from? Well, you also have to rig-up some sort of bracketry to support the side-panels if you've removed your airbox... which I did a while back: Pods versus Lidless I actually like the looks of the side panels, but go with or without at times depending on the mood
  12. Wow, now that is an excellent idea I'll get right on that, along with a device to provide carefully "measured" exposure to finely sorted particulates evenly to both cylinder intakes.
  13. ...well, just as long as they don't invite Elton John to sing I mean, I like him and all, but honestly
  14. So Mike... whatever happened? Once seen in person, did you decide to get one, or pass? al
  15. Yeah Yeah.... but with all "due respect" Carl.... we honestly do need quite a bit of "patience" when it comes to your projects of the last couple years ...but hey, am glad to hear you got Frankensport finally registered!!
  16. Yep, my fronts were setup at 1.05 as well by a suspension shop That seems to be a well recommended setup for the avg grown man + gear on the V11.
  17. Heh, yeah... I've lurking on that thread ..and finally just posted a quickie But I've been running the K&Ns on bikes for years with no known ill-effects. If I do get the kit above, I plan to buy both the UNI and K&N filters that fit the stacks and just see which works out better. The kit comes with UNIs, but they'll send some K&Ns with it for another $50. al
  18. I wonder how well UNI filters compare to K&N filters? The little I've read is that the UNI filters do filter a good bit better, but don't have a huge downside in reduced air-flow... if so Anyone have any objective(non marketing) info on the UNI versus K&N? al P.S. I won't even wade into the argument of whether K&Ns filter "well enough" or not. I've had them on my bikes for years with no known ill-effects(the FJ1200 had 80k miles) and I like them on the Guzzi for mostly aesthetic reasons. If I were 100% concerned with ultimate filtration or filter/air-flow performance, I wouldn't be running pods at all So this is somewhat of an academic discussion for me... now where's my popcorn smilie when I need it
  19. Yeah, I've asked for these for Christmas I'm ordering with both the UNI and K&N filters to see which works out better. My conversation with Dave Blunk said they don't know which flows/protects better, but went with the UNI initially simply because they were lighter. http://www.sportcyclepacific.com/featureditems.htm
  20. If MPH feels good about using Forward Air, then no problem... but just from personal experience shipping my bike from CA to NC a few months ago, Eagle One Express was a good bit cheaper than most of the shippers, and it was a very personalized service, door-to-door... an no palletizing of the bike. I HIGHLY recommend them: http://eagleoneexpress.com/ al
  21. ...this is really getting me worried. Who could it have been We really should find out ASAP. Perhaps some local fliers are required! :!:
  22. 'twasn't me either, as I no longer live in wild and craaaaazy Cali
