Thanks for all the information regarding the SS, and congratulations on getting it sold!

Don't forget to grease, check your rear drive shaft splines.

Thanks! It must be good since it's called "Super Impact Grease" https://www.wurthusa.com/Chemical-Product/Lubricants/Grease/SIG-3000-Super-Impact-Grease-14-oz-cartridge/p/0890401000 http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1914 -
This is an interesting marketing approach and collaboration It's a quick read, and good for a chuckle I guess someone at MG is a big Woverine fan https://www.motoguzzi.com/my_EN/moto-guzzi-world/news-moto-guzzi/marvel-graphic-novel/ https://read.marvel.com/#/book/61153 You can even buy your own physical copy here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/275649335232

I was leisurely browsing around eBay looking at various things, including used MG parts, and noticed something that I had noted years before but don't recall I ever asked about. Some of the older MG valve/rocker covers have a hole (slot seen on the cover on the right in the photo below) for mounting what appears to be a temperature sensor in the valve cover, which of course our V11 series does not have mounted there. The mounting looks the same as our airbox air temperature sensor, and I think I've even seen on of these covers with a sensor mounted that looks identical to our air temperature sensor. So I wondered if the valve/rocker cover mounted version was for oil/head temperature sensing as a previous approach to the cylinder temperature sensor we have bolted into our V11 cylinder? Just was curious what that sensor did in this application and era.

I'm sure it is posted several times elsewhere, but just for anyone's reference if they search and find this thread: What is the "best" grease to use on these splines? I thought I recall someone posting a BMW part number they thought was ideal. -
Thanks, yours certainly looks like a standard "2002" Champagne Lemans, so I guess MG must have made some of them available in 2001 for the 2002 model year. And BTW, it looks great and original That really isn't that unusual, as even here in the USA automakers and other manufacturers would begin manufacturing the next model year in the months prior and sometimes even would begin selling them late in the preceding year. So one could get a 1975 model in late 1974. Maybe that's what MG did here. Interesting

It's like they say on Antiques Roadshow... it's hard to put a value on it because there are no recent comps An auction seems to settle that uncertainty though, clarifying what the market will bear. Apparently it is worth $31,500 USD to someone ...it is a bit of a unicorn in its special still-in-a-crate condition obviously. So, on another interesting note... at least to me...... Take a look at who and where the USA distributor for Moto Guzzi was in the early 1990s per the shipping label on this crate: Lillington, NC This is significant to me for two reasons: 1) Lillington, NC is a tiny town. It has one of those main streets that is only a small-town-block long that you'll miss if you blink. I'm not disparaging Lillington, as I like Lillington, but really, it's small, with a population of 4,558 today, with a population of about 2,459 in 1993! 2) Lillington is just 22 miles down the road from my also not so huge city of Sanford How in the heck did little Lillington, NC, just down the road from me, end up being the US distributor of MG in the 1990s? See the attached article from the May 1991 issue of "American Motorcyclist" for a little more information. What an interesting small world.

Beginning to see a lot of posts on Facebook about new owners and others checking out the V100 in dealerships. So I expect we'll soon start to see even more owner reviews, feedback, and accessories/aftermaket... and maybe a dedicated forum for the model at some point It does seem very popular so far, many stating that it looks even better in person than in photos.

V11 for sale online/ Craigslist and all others
al_roethlisberger replied to chamberlin's topic in 24/7 V11
Wow, this mileage may rival @docc The owner doesn't state a price, and it's not entirely clear if it is actually for sale or if he is just sharing information about the bike. But it sounds like it is for sale? https://www.facebook.com/groups/129462630430089/permalink/6136886696354289/ -
Not off hand as I haven't received the kit yet, and Kim let me know that they've only sold one of these new (year old) kits for the V11 so far, to an owner in Europe who they never heard back from him to hear how well it did or did not work. So I guess I'll be the second or third recipient of the kit as one other owner from Maine just contacted her as well. She asked me, and I assume the other owner, to please provide feedback if there are any issues or other observations so they can improve the product if necessary. But my assumption is that like most of these modifications I've seen elsewhere; the starter power is now shunted through a direct connection to the battery, and the starter button no longer will be carrying the load, instead just triggering a relay? If so this would be similar to the headlight circuit modifications that do the same for the headlight switch. They've been selling a kit for other models now for 10+ years with very positive feedback. Here is what the MPH kit looks like for the Norge, etc, but apparently the V11 kit is a little more involved: https://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=48127.0 Some other background on this particular issue for some owners of various MG bikes: https://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=80041.0

2001 it is! That is really interesting! Do you mind posting a photo of two of the bike at some point so we can see if MG was delivering anything different or special with a 2001 Lemans?

That's a great color, looks good!

I am still very interested to see the VIN on this bike to clarify if it is a 2001 or 2002

Maybe I'll create an account at "EwenMacgregor" and make a lot of positive comments to run up the price and excitement even further Just kidding

Yeah, I thought about that while writing my response, and I'm not 100% certain how this would apply in every State in the US. As always, "check your local laws and regulations" I guess in this case, if the new buyer hoped to register it in their State, but found they could not do so; I don't think they would have a hard time reselling it I honestly don't think registering it in the US as-is would be a problem though. I'd be surprised.

There must have been some cosmic energy around this topic floating around the Universe today MPH Cycles makes a pre-made kit for this issue, and sells the kit for newer models on their website: Moto Guzzi | Startus Interuptus | Starter Relay Kit | MPH Cycles | Texas | Norge | Breva | Griso | The kits listed on the website are only for Breva, Norge and Griso models. MPH developed an entirely different kit for the earlier bikes (V11 Sports / LeMans, V10 Centauro) late last year but it is not advertised on the website. Cost for the V11 kit is $70.00 which includes postage within USA. I just heard from MPH today that they how have those kits for the earlier (V11) bikes available again. Please reach out to MPH directly if interested.

I suspect it will be "collected" and left in the crate, which I can understand on one hand, but on the other hand... I'd be torn between both options But since the bids are already so high, I fortunately won't have to worry about making that choice! But yeah to your points above; if it is pulled out to be ridden, it will have to be completely gone over much more so than the standard dealer setup, and some plastic/rubber bits may just have to be replaced. Regarding whether it can be registered, depending on the US State involved and the minutiae of their law, it likely can and as mentioned would be typically held to the emissions/safety standards of the year of its VIN. This is why old frames for vehicles in the US can be valuable, as they can be used as a foundation for a "hot rod" that may be exempt from some modern standards. I think for example this is how Shelby sold "new" old 1960s Cobras several years ago.
