  1. OUCH... how did I miss this thread until today? (Probably because I've been working 12 hour days at work, and getting the house ready to sell afterwards... for the last 3 weeks ) Glad to hear you aren't too beaten up Jaap, and that the bike doesn't sound too awfully smushed. I know that must have put a real damper on your day al
  2. .....sooooo many reasons to put a quality shock out back, and now these failures should put that "upgrade" at the top of one's shopping list
  3. Yeah, the velocity stacks linked above only fit the 4V engine setup... I've inquired(do a search on velocity stacks ) But, you can fit your K&Ns over the stock plastic velocity stacks. One of the mechanics at the local shop did just that, and with a little lubricant and patience, you can work the filter over the OEM stack, and bolt it all back up to the TB easily. You'll just end up with a slightly "longer" solution, and hence the stock side covers will probably never fit again(if like me you had rigged up a frame to support them). I planned to fiddle with this sometime later after the move. al
  4. If you are in need of some parts, this just in: http://www.rebootguzzispares.com
  5. Lots of info here on my past experiences with this: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=462 Specifically, see my "fuel pump relocation" thread: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...75&hl=fuel-pump al
  6. I think Todd enriches the mixture at part throttle openings to help with this on his PCIII maps. Also, in theory, the PCIIIusb "accelerator pump" feature can be used to ameliorate it a bit. al
  7. Hi David, ...sorry to hear you are letting the bike go, although I'm sure someone else who wants a Scura will be elated As far as the problems you describe, under normal circumstances, the answer is "yes" to all of your issues. But without more specific info, I would say that it hard to offer even the most generic of advice However, when I first read your post, I though: "wow, a Scura for 498 pounds? What a deal" al P.S. I don't have moderator access to this sub-forum, so we might want to have this post moved to the appropriate section.
  8. ...haven't heard of this particular issue, but we have heard of at least one of the "metal"(questionable as to what they are made of apparently) valve stems cracking and leaking But on the whole, I don't think these have proven to be a problem. al
  9. Sorry to hear about your Daytona still not being found ...and I surely wish you'd stop showing us how nice your Supertwin is, as it just makes the rest of us want to "give up" BTW, how much did the custom tank cost, and who did it? I still think that for those that have eliminated their airbox, and don't have the undertank filter/pump(03+ bikes), having a custom tank made to regain that ~1Gallon under the tank where the airbox/pump was, would be really cool al
  10. Awesome(...even if uncommon and unexpected ) news! But yeah, give that bike the sort of inspection only a proctologist could appreciate before letting the insurance guys off the hook. al
  11. Very cool. Glad to hear that both MGNA and Moto Italiano came through for you! al
  12. This is not an indictment, or offered as evidence pro or con oil starvation, but to your question..... all I can say is that I had my oil light flicker a couple times, and when I had my cases replaced, they discovered one of my crank bearings was pretty scored al
  13. ...also, check that you didn't bump your cutoff switch, and I've also heard these switches are finicky sometimes If it never does it again, for another 10k miles, I wouldn't worry about it. al
  14. sheesh.... $13k and $8k and heading up.... for a set of "replica" leathers, helmet, and some stinky boots Just like everyone else, I have my foibles, and collections of things.... but good grief. I don't see the point, unless it were a charity type thing al
  15. Heh, thanks for the offer Carl.... ..... but yeah, it's on its way already. As far as getting my bike going, yeah they "fixed" it as far as I know. I didn't get much of a chance to ride it more than a handful of times after getting it back, before I had to ship it off though. So who knows if it is truly "fixed" or not It did die on my twice, both times idling at a stop light... just "off" like a light switch, but it started right back up, so who knows. Other than that though, it runs like a top. I choose not to worry about the 2 "cut outs" right now though. It will be another couple months before I can look at the bike again, and then I'll just give it a whole once-over anyway. Good luck with "that shop" and sorting out the billing etc. I've still got an outstanding issue with them for about $150 of electronics(tail light modulator and signal canceller) that stopped working while in their care. I don't know what the outcome of that will be either, but I haven't followed up on it. al
  16. ....well, they picked up the bike this afternoon, and so far they seem like a courteous and professional outfit. We'll see how they work out in the end when the bike is delivered, but their equipment was high quality, and attention to detail was very evident. One point of interest, I asked if they end up hauling many MGs, and he joked... well, I have two more on the truck now He parked mine by a Silver 00/01 Sport, and Black Ghezzi Supertwin that he had just picked up in the Capitola area, and both bikes had been sold to someone in South Carolina... I believe. Anyway, interesting luck. al
  17. I like the MG tank-bag, and haven't had any trouble with. The only problem I have had is that my laptop barely fits inside the bag, almost to a fault. So I really need a backpack or messenger bag option when commuting to work. al
  18. I think this is generally "good news".... almost a "start from a clean slate" approach. It will be interesting to see how they approach the new EV Touring, if there are any changes.... al
  19. Well, the guys from Eagle One Express pick up the bike this afternoon... hauling to a friend's house in North Carolina We won't actually be there for another couple months, so it looks like I will essentially have "seen" my bike for at most, 4 months out of this YEAR Well anyway, the guys at Eagle One seem very nice, and professional. The driver has called me about 3 times this last week letting me know his schedule/status, and I really appreciate that. The total cost to transport the bike is $590 from San Jose, CA to the Raleigh, NC area, and I that was significantly less than any other MC shipper I checked into.... and this is door-to-door to boot! So, I'll let everyone know how they work out.... keeping my fingers crossed that it will be "positive" al
  20. I don't think I've heard of any LeMans having the issue In North America, the LeMans was a 2002 model, and only 00-01(North America) bikes were in the VIN range for the trans recall as far as I recall. al
  21. Yeah, this might work well for those with the 00-02 "external pump" tanks, just for ease-of-use, but I don't know how they'd fit(without major mods) the newer "in tank" models These certainly look better than the plastic units fitted to late-model Triumphs though... the ones that got recalled due to cracking/failure. al
  22. Here ya go: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/CCItalianBikes/
  23. I have a metal "thermometer" dipstick from MG-Cycle that works fine, and I painted it as well for ease of reading. But for the stock dipstick, the best modification I've heard of is to drill three or four little holes through the center, one at the high, one at the low mark, and one or two inbetween. The oil over/in the holes makes for easy reading. al
  24. .... indeed, just having a little fun guys
  25. You could be correct, I sometimes get the 03+ fork features juxtaposed in my mind Here are the specs from the MG North America site for the 03+ forks: Front suspension: Marzocchi USD fork, 43 mm compression/extension adjustable Either way, you get "2 out of 3" with either year range al
