Eeeeenteresting question... If the spacer is under the locknut, is there enough room for the nut & spacer? The attached parts diagrams add to the confusion perhaps, although don't contradict your experience either I wonder why the two options are shown?

A lot of vintage audio equipment chassis that look like they are brushed or "silver" plated are actually cadmium as well. Don't go sanding, grinding on it or licking it
-
Agree, but just wondering if one is already replacing the bolt, one might consider picking up a new nylock nut too
-
Shouldn't the nylok/nylock nut really be replaced after one use as well, especially for something that crucial, or is that overkill? I've been told for ages that for really important applications, the nylon locking nuts are meant to be used once. https://www.albanycountyfasteners.com/All-Categories/Nylon_Insert_Lock_Nuts_Waxed https://provenproductivity.com/correct-use-of-nylon-insert-locknuts/ https://www.huyett.com/blog/lock-nuts

Oh boy, my (big) mistake... I wasn't sure if he were still around, and Google led me astray based upon a quick read... I was thinking of the musician Dr. John. It appears "reports of [his] death are greatly exaggerated" based upon my post. Apologies for any skipped heartbeats. But never-the-less, since he apparently isn't gone, one could certainly reach out to him to find out if the Scura had been his? That would be fun to clear up!

EDIT: Mistake, it doesn't appear that Dr. John Wittner has passed away. If someone were really interested, I'm sure someone could reach out to Dr. Wittner's estate to see if they knew if this bike had been owned by him. Similarly since Dr. Wittner has passed away, Mike Rich might answer the question more directly now *if* he actually knows who the customer was. On that note; I have my flow charts from Mike Rich and they clearly have my name on them

An older post, but sage advice! And it's also important to realize that the further one deviates into custom territory, the less shared experiences and advice are available to iron out the details. I've learned to live by and offer similar advice to those first acquiring a vintage home, keen to immediately begin changing everything... to instead take a breath and live with the house for a little while. They may soon begin to like it for what it is, and realize that changing it would forever undo what was unique and special about it.

I sent TechSpec an email through their "Contact Us" link to see if they still can make the "Snake Skin" side tank pads for the V11 Sport/Lemans. Motorcycle Tank Grips and Tank Pads - TechSpec-USA Gripster Tank Gripsâ„¢ I meant to follow-up on this back when this thread was started, but never did. From an aesthetic perspective, the look is probably polarizing, but I think it may look pretty cool & retro. But more importantly, I remember my inner knee really getting a bit sore at times banging into the hard tank after riding for several hours, so this pad may help. I'll provide an update if and when they respond.

Yes, you'd have to replace the map with a V11 map I assume.

He seems to really like the bike, giving it an 8.5 out of 10. But it is funny to hear him complain about the transmission, especially about finding/determining what gear it is in. This is funny to me in general because new motorcycles have so many electronic aids such as ABS, traction control, ride modes, and gear indicators... none of which I've ever experienced, and never needed, especially a gear indicator. Why? I wouldn't mind the safety features such as ABS and traction-control/ride-modes, but I've always thought things like gear indicators were a bit funny, on cars or bikes, and laugh when younger riders review and find older bikes to be archaic or difficult (in their minds) to ride without those features I FINALLY RIDE A MOTO GUZZI AND IT'S...

I guess @cory464 never checked back in here, but he did post two videos about the bike, which seems like it turned out OK in the end

That's my recollection, in that there isn't anything special about the Titanium ECU other than the map. That being said, just from general commentary over the years, I suspect that MG improved the map for the V11 over time, and of course the Titanium ECU map is designed for less restrictive exhaust. So if someone has a mostly stock bike but has added aftermarket exhaust; then fitting a Titanium ECU might bring some benefit without any other tuning required. There are several 15M ECUs on eBay right now, but they aren't super economical .... $250-400 USD https://www.ebay.com/itm/185592596015 https://www.ebay.com/itm/354318739657 https://www.ebay.com/itm/385336886636 https://www.ebay.com/itm/134240411894 https://www.ebay.com/itm/325019203606 https://www.ebay.com/itm/266040614266 https://www.ebay.com/itm/233774096054 https://www.ebay.com/itm/275394471973 https://www.ebay.com/itm/134424660805 https://www.ebay.com/itm/404090126889 https://www.ebay.com/itm/403680485458

That's true. I have the smoked Buell turn signal lenses, and had the Buell drop pegs (those require bushing adapters for the pin), so there are a number of "parts bin" interchangeable bits that can be used from Buell I'm sure. Sometimes I still see these "Buell" parts (in quotes because they aren't just used for Buell) listed on other HD parts sites occasionally, but out of curiosity I did search for these mirror parts without success. I did see a used one on eBay though. But if one were really looking, I bet setting up a saved search on eBay would eventually find some NOS or in good condition used. I am fairly certain that the good ole days of super cheap Buell parts, perhaps other than the turn signal lenses, are gone though

According to the item description on the AF1 website for the part: We'll see

Well I ordered one of the AF1 bolts, so we'll see how long it takes to arrive and how it compares to what came on the bike originally. It looks like it may be several weeks before it shows up though.

I love(d) Fastenal, even just to browse around, but especially as a local source to buy (often in stock) or order fasteners. However our local Fastenal store switched to direct business supply only sometime over the last few years, so no more walk-in public customers For me to buy anything now I'd have to have a business account, and I suspect a minimum order.

V11 for sale online/ Craigslist and all others
al_roethlisberger replied to chamberlin's topic in 24/7 V11
I spoke with the dealership, and the listing is an error. The Jackal is not "new" (such as NOS in a crate), the mileage is said to be approximately 15k miles.
