  1. .... you're not riding FAST ENOUGH And I'm not a sadist, I proclaim: Looooooooooooove the Scura, caress it....yesssss, love it like no other
  2. I think you'll find the following thread on the topic very helpful, and specifically Todd Eagan's(RacerX) comments in regard to the application of the PCIII with the Ti pipes. MG Titanium Pipes/ECU with PCIII Thread And AFAIK, the Ti "race" ECU is identical to the "regular" ECU with exception of a new software map. The air/fuel mix is definitely different, and some have suggested that timing is changed as well.... although that has not been confirmed here. They both are Marelli 15M units. If it had a different processor, etc... it would be a different model, and I do not believe that it is, although admittedly I have not had one side-by-side, nor disassembled. The only hardware device that I am aware of that has "doubled it data points" over a recent past version is the PCIII when the new PCIIIusb was released. The old PCIII used 500rpm increments, where the new unit uses 250rpm data points. al
  3. No worries ... I got your back al P.S. I wish we did have a slightly more powerful search function, one that allowed 3 character searchs for example. I can't tell you the number of times I've tried to search for a 3 character title component, but it's not allowed
  4. ...well, at least I didn't ask for pictures of a transverse!
  5. Yeah, don't sweat the Neutral light... they all end up "coming and going" on these bikes at one point or another. Mine does the same.... works for a while, then goes on vacation for a bit I've heard that leaving the bike in gear when sitting helps, but then again some folks say this is hogwash. My experience?? .... if I leave the bike parked in gear, as opposed to Neutral, the light "seems" to work more often. As always though, YMMV al
  6. ....yeeesssssssssss, looooove the Scura, loooove the Scura Touch it's tra-la-la
  7. ...not a comment on lowering the triples, but WRT to lowering the bars... you could go get some used 00-01 V11 Sport clip-ons, which mount below the triple. Or, there are often aftermarket clip-ons on eBay that would fit. al
  8. Well, after about 9 months, my case is at the dealer... just waiting on me to drop the bike off. I posted photos of the new case a little while back, and it looks like it will match well enough. There are lots of past threads on this subject, such as: Forum "paint" Search ...there were so many results, I just posted the search link instead But basically, MG(in North America anyway) will do one of two things: 1) Replace the case OR 2) Give you a bunch of swag(about $800 worth if I recall).... but it's prescribed swag, from which you choose the items you want. And then you sign a release, such that said bike can no longer be presented for this warantee claim/work. We've had a couple/three folks on the forum have their cases replaced so far, and so far... all seems to have turned out fine al
  9. ...gotcha, and sage advice indeed WRT to the sockets' impact from multiple insertions/removals al
  10. ...just to be clear, in North America, "chicken strips" are typically referring to the section along the edges of the tire that is apparently unused do to lack of leaning over The wider the "chicken strips" the more "chicken" one is I am apparently quite "chicken" most of the time al
  11. I can't tell you the answer on the leaking/failed sensors.... maybe just bad luck there.... But, with regard to the original question about low oil under hard acceleration, that does generally indicate low oil Make sure you do not check the oil level with the bike on its sidestand, unless you have modified the dipstick to indicate correctly. The oil level must be checked with the bike vertical. al
  12. They were Bosch replacements about a week after new, then I replaced the Bosch units with the GEI units from Dan. I think all the "swapping" loosened things up too much. I put a couple of the Bosch relays back, as they seemed a bit tighter, and so far all is well. I kept the GEI on the Lights and Starter though.... maybe one other location, I forget which. So I have a mix now, but none of the stock Siemens. al
  13. Well, this part probably is simple overflow gas running out of the overflow or vent(if you've REALLY overfilled it)... and it sounds like your overflow line has come disconnected from under the tank. Usually both of these are simply "push on" affairs, and can come off quite easily. This sounds like you definitely have the "tank suck" issue, and you should remove the tip-over valve post-haste. Do a search for "suck" in the title of a thread, and you should find a close-up photo or two of this valve if you aren't sure what it is. ....but it's a very obvious item, being the only 2 inch long black cylinder hanging in-line on one of the overflow lines from under the tank And based on your report in the first section, I am guessing that the tank is becoming pressurized, and fuel is being forced past the closed cap somehow(or it's just sloshed fuel when the cap was opened) and running out of the overflow drain in the collar... again with no hose attached, or maybe a loose hose. BTW, when filling a tank, I had been told.... and usually only fill the tank to the bottom edge of the neck/filler. This usually leaves a good couple inches of neck for expansion/slosh protection. This is a little less clear with the Sport tank, but just don't fill it all the way to the tippee-top. al
  14. .... higher than the stock risers on the Ballabio? I'll have to admit that I think this is the first I've heard of anyone wanting to raise the bars even more than the Ballabio does over the Sport/LeMans With that in mind, I personally haven't heard of any risers, but since it's a simple system, you may be able to have someone machine some spacers, or maybe find risers from another make(like Harley Davidson) that raise the bars even further. Another option is that since the Ballabio has regular bars, unlike the Sport/LeMans, you may be able to find a different set of handlebars that have a higher rise themselves..... which in fact may be the easiest option. You could probably check with a shop that sells motocross parts/bars Good luck! al
  15. Hi John, Do you have a link where we can just download the whole video from? I keep getting horrible jitter and drops when trying to stream it through Quicktime. ...tons of pixelization and sound dropouts. al
  16. Naw, fuh-get-about-it ..yeah, ....although I'm sure someone has come up with a method that works for them to change the light without removing the fairing, IMHO it's just easiest and in the end quickest to remove the 6 bolt locations on the fairing and lift it off After you do it once or twice, it takes all of 5 minutes, versus wrestling with all of those little fairing bolts. BTW, don't overtighten those little guys, as there aren't any bushings in the fairing plastic, and you will cause stress cracks. And WRT the Ti cans and bags, I don't think, other than some custom job, there is any way to fit bags with the upswept cans Maybe someone else has come up with a solution though Boy, I'm full of all sorts of "good news" on this thread eh? Well, hope that helps anyway al
  17. Barring any "oddities" I plan to go. The bike isn't in the shop yet for the engine rebuild, so it shouldn't be a problem. (Oddities = things Al has tinkered with that make the bike less than reliable *this week* ) Since Santana Row is just down the street, you should come by my house, say hi to the baaaaaaaaaby ...and we could go down together al
  18. BTW, Steve... regarding your warning against using SS for applications requiring high strength.... I thought SS could be obtained in higher grades?? I could be wrong, but when I went down to the local metric shop, I could have sworn they sold me some graded SS one time... although for the application I don't think it mattered Are SS fasteners always too brittle to use for these applications? al
  19. ....true, probably soooo true P.S. I bet you're right
  20. .... heh, well, most often I try not to respond to trolls but All I can say Brian is, "you asked" Oh, and BTW, you "lost me" there at the end, but that's OK That's awesome Gary
  21. BUMPETY BUMP.... ...so with my engine rebuild coming, any updates on long-term durability, and any perceived/measured benefit now that some of you have had the rods for a while now? thx al
  22. I can't think of his name right this minute, although I'm sure someone else will recall.... but the fella that makes the fancy fin guards also makes one or both?? .... of the foot controls out of billet I believe. Based on everyone's experience, I agree that it would be nicer if these "levers" would bend instead of snapping on a whim If someone knows the cost of the foot controls from "that fella", that would be helpful as well. I don't think we've ever heard pricing, but I could be wrong. Again, I just don't remember off-hand. al
