Currently riding on Metz Z6 Roadtec's that came with the Ballabio when I bought it. Decent tire. I put these on, as I had worn out my second set of Pirelli Diablo Corsa III's. The Pirelli's were fly paper compared to the Metz's. Warm up much faster, and much more predictable in high speed cornering.

If it's the 8 valve 1200 motor, this could be the closest we get to a roadable MGS.

Finally. A new Guzzi without a giant piece of plastic between the fuel tank and engine. Nice and clean. I like.

I downloaded the SP and G5 manual last night and after looking at it, it does indeed look like you can flip sides no problem. The SP actually uses the forks in that configuration and the G5 in the other. Specs on the forks are identical. Guzzitech has the adapter to allow fitting the Brembo golds in place of the old style. If you look at that picture I posted of that dark "roadster", you can actually see those plates. Todd and Ed at Guzzitech also tipped me off to these new style rotors that are a direct bolt on. Pricey, but pretty. Rotors When I say upswept pipes, I mean similar to those on that picture. Short and angled up. Most of the pipes I have found lay flat along the frame. The pipes on this silver Cafe' are really what I would like to get, but I can't find them anywhere. -

Okay, here's a wierd question. On the G5 my calipers are mounted in front of the fork. As I am going to upgrade to modern Brembo gold calipers and updated rotors, I would like them to be positioned behind the fork for aesthetics. Is it acceptable and/or possible to just put the left fork on the right and vice versa to achieve this? I notice on that years SP the rotors are behind the forks yet the forks appear to be the same or similar. Thanks, Doug -
Talk to Todd at Guzzitech about the HyperPro springs. They ask a lot of questions with regards to weight, passenger percentage, luggage weight percentage etc, so they may have just what you need. Reasonably priced and 1 million mile guarantee. Should be just about the time the Guzzi is broken in.

Greg, What is the part number of the electrical sender unit or is it a standard metric pipe fitting? Does that sender come with the VDO gauge? Doug

I think this is where I'm going with mine. This isn't a round head, but you get the idea. I've already sourced most of the parts I'm gonna need. Just have to find someone to build a seat like this. I'd like to find a more upswept exhaust than what I'm seeing available too. Perhaps custom. -

Well I went ahead and bought the G5. I got what I think is a great deal on it. 700 bucks. It's been sitting for a few years and needs some serious restoration, paint, polish etc, but I think it will be a good platform for a Cafe'. From what I can tell by quickly going over it, it needs the forks rebuilt, the calipers rebuilt, the carbs rebuilt, etc, etc. This will become the wife's bike when done. I'll post pics during the progress. The bike previously had a gigantic fairing, a king/queen saddle and a ridiculous back rest/rack. The guy I got it from thankfully stripped it all off. Here's a pic of it without the seat, headlight bucket etc. At any rate, I'm gonna be busy this winter.... -

Falco, I used the original location for the HyperPro steering damper, but you have to hand fit it's placement in it's bracket to ensure that it doesn't act as a stop. Not a big deal and easy to do. It'll be obvious when you install. With regards to the Stucchi "spoiler" I probably am mis-naming it. See it here on the V11 Sport taken at this years IMOC.

I have not experienced the tank suck or expansion in my gas tank. Is it possible your tip over valve is blocked or installed incorrectly? It seems that most with the dreaded tank suck have that problem. I agree with your 140-150 mile estimate for fuel range. Unless I'm extremely conservative on my Ballabio, that is almost exactly what I get before the light comes on. I have the HyperPro RSC steering damper and love it. Big improvement over the Bitubo. Much more adjustable and works really well soaking up bumps while cornering at a higher rate of speed. I found a very nice setting that keeps the steering very light at parking lot speeds but exceptional at speed. I noticed that the cowling/seat cover on your bike is red. I just bought a nice used one to paint red on my Ballabio. I was thinking it would look nice breaking up the gray of the Ballabio tail and apparently was right in thinking that. It looks terrific on yours. I also have the Stucchi chin spoiler coming that I will also be painting red to match the rest of the bike.

Sorry about bumping an old topic but.... I have an opportunity to get my hands on a V1000 G5 for really short money. I want to use this bike as a base for a Cafe bike project. Is this bike a reasonable base for that? Doug -

EBC has a pad that has addressed the problems with sintered pads and disc destruction. EBC

I like it. I prefer my adventure bikes to be a bit odd or ugly looking. It just seems right. The seat looks adjustable to me, shades of the BMW RT.

I've had very good results from the EBC pads. They're available from most dealers. EBC binders

I have the same unit, and adjusted it's travel in the same way. It's a vastly superior unit over the stock Bitubo.
