  1. NB: Ignore position of pawl arm spring in my photo - that's a broken one.
  2. Interesting theory BFG. I wonder if it might explain the absence of Donkey Dong data recently? Is it possible that Enzo unwittingly misjudged his lateral trajectory, & at fantastic speed, created a cereberal vortex so powerful that it sucked it's creator into oblivion? KB
  3. I've never got near that mileage out of seals. My Scura has 5 sets in 27k miles. Replaced clutch assy, had pawl spring issues, & rear wheel bearing problem in first few years but now running sweetly. I love my Tontis & didn't think I'd take to the Scura same way but, have come to really like it's relaxed ways & I wouldn't sell it now. The one thing I really still struggle with tho, is it's handling limitations on bumpy, twisty roads. Tonti never frightened me the same way. Welcome back Orangeokie, that's a lovely looking bike. KB
  4. No. But I thought it was just 2002 bikes had wrong size post?
  5. Hi Michael. Spring in pix 1 & 3 is fitted wrong. It should be fitted to shift shaft/pawl arm assembly before fitting that assembly into cover. Looking at your pic 1, when correctly fitted, lower arm of spring would sit above post, crossing over upper arm. See pic below. Fit cover assembly to trans after selecting neutral. KB BFG's excellent How to: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16872&st=0&gopid=180886&
  6. you what? Someone once posted (on this board I think - maybe it was you [?]) something like: " I love riding my bike - it's the only time when all the voices in my head are saying the same thing". I feel the same; thought that was a lovely way of putting it & quote it often & to anyone who'll listen! Don't think music ever comes into my head really - I just like the music of the bike & the ride - exhaust beat, discs singing... horns blaring, other road users cursing...etc, etc... KB
  7. You trying the right lock? Seat lock is on the right hand side of the bike just below the side panel. Helmet lock is on left of bike & does not release seat. KB
  8. Yah! Bollocks! KB
  9. I dunno about anyone else but mine's a keeper. Maybe they've all just eventually ended up with owner's who feel the same way - as Felix42o says above - maybe after 10 yrs their values are more ovbvious - the last of the old-school Guzzis. KB
  10. Doesn't seem off topic to me. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll dig it out. KB
  11. No Shame about Ratchethack, I didn't mind him at all - I liked some of his stuff. He had useful experience to contribute & devoted a lot of his time to helping with issues people might have. Trouble was, he didn't know how to keep it in his pants - every thread degenerated into his slagging someone off in detail & at length. It got very boring, especially when it infected the Tech forum: I just couldn't be arsed to scroll through the acres of repetetive diatribe (littered with meticulously researched quotations - where did he get the time & energy?) to unearth any relevant discussion. So I didn't bother coming here so much. It was bad for the forum. If he'd just been more discerning it would've been OK, but I guess he was just using this place to excercise some personality problems. Is he on any other Guzzi forums under a different name? I haven't noticed his particular style anywhere else. Funny thing was; his long-suffering punch-bag, dlaing, disappeared at the same time, maybe they needed each other, maybe they were two sides of the same ego - I dunno. In Jaap I trust . KB
  12. Also by Dan Walsh: "These are the days that must happen to you". He's out there. I was very moved by this book: "First Light" by Geoffrey Wellum http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/world-war-2/battle-of-britain/7992268/Geoffrey-Wellum-The-terrible-beauty-of-flying-a-Spitfire-at-the-age-of-18.html KB
  13. Well I think filter was too tight & filter wrench just distorted it (maybe they're not as solid as they used to be ...or maybe it was the 8 flute filter wrench on a 14 flute filter) & I had begun to whince at the screwdriver through the flanks method - just too brutal. Self tappers work well. Maybe next: pointy screws thru captive nuts... Hwyl! KB
  14. ScuRoo, you only look to find the best in people, you are a true gent. There's a place for everything & everything in it's place - & the place for this is the shit & banter section. But as we're here ... @#!#$# - journalists? seeing things as they are? everyone sees their own truth & it's best from the horses mouth - Freewheelin Frank ,Seven Pillars of Wisdom, First Light - stuff written by the people who did the deeds, lived the life they're describing, not some tick hitching a ride til he's had his fill. Me, I'm just grateful for a quiet & sheltered life. Thank you, Lord, for all the sunny tomorrows. KB
  15. Whats this all got to do with Guzzi or V11's?
  16. if a strap wrench wouldn't turn it i used to use a screwdriver but now i am more refined - four self tappers threaded thru the sides of the cheapo filter wrench into the filter & a long bar.
  17. His bike, he can do as he likes & good luck to him. As you say it's nicely put together. T3 had twin discs. KB
  18. What & deprive us all? KB
  19. Can I recommend to you the work currently being undertaken by the visionary engineering genius Enzo Temko on his blisteringly fast Donkey Dong Special. His reports are elsewhere on this forum, & most of it is straight from the seat of his pants. KB
  20. Yes. "he's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy" - & he must've been very, very naughty to get chucked off the Illuminati board.... This from Chaz to Enzo on that board "My windows got broken, which let me live. Yours are like Hendrix's room full of mirrors. All you can see is you." Perhaps this goes some way to explain the reception here for the returning Enzo, ScuRoo? KB
  21. Looking at the tyre edges in photos of your bike it's difficult to imagine what method you've used to arrive at these conclusions. Perhaps you could elaborate on your test procedures? Peace, KB
  22. You're asking questions far above my pay grade - I just paid a man to do it - but my understanding was that you couldn't re-programme the stock ECU, hence PC111. Cliff's myECU has good rep - have you seen: http://www.cajinnovations.com/yabb0/YaBB.pl & on here: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13803 ? Do you know Moto Corsa at Three Legged Cross - close to you? Mike Russell-de-Clifford there has been involved with Guzzi for yrs & is very good on setting up FI etc. They use Dyno at Crescent Suzuki around the corner from them. Just thinking Crescent will be familiar with Guzzis & it's close by. That's the route I went & was pleased with what I got. Even if you don't choose to use him it might be worth a chat: http://www.motocorsa.co.uk/ KB
  23. I also have old Tontis with bare cases & they last forever & will always clean up. No need whatsoever for paint. I'm not a fan of engine paint. I don't know, but it's been said to me that the alloy in the V11's isn't as good as the old stuff & needs the paint. I haven't investigated at all - I've been lucky with my Scura so far; paint has stayed on - apart from a couple of chips. Compare the V11 alternator cover with one from a Tonti big block. KB
  24. Not my cup of tea, but looks nicely made. I've never seen a Guzzi big block look so small - looks like a moped engine in that thing - frame needs an 8 cylinder radial! KB
