  1. I'm guessing you know what he means - but...A safe speed is the speed where you can safely stop in the distance you can see to be clear. This is usually the limiting factor on most twisty roads & yes the limit is similar whatever bike you are on. Who rides at a safe speed? A good rider on most any modern sportsbike could easily accomplish a pace far faster than what is remotely "safe" on most of the roads I ride. Sure there are differences in bikes' abilities, but most often on any twisty road, given two fast, competent riders, it is self preservation & the safety of others that limits speed & therefore the difference between them. Two good riders of equal ability will mostly turn up at the pub together, whatever they're riding. Racing is best left to the racetrack. Any fool can go out to a long straight & ride as fast as the bike will go - all that proves is who's got the fastest bike, & says nothing about rider ability. Enzo - A question: Have you ever been on a racetrack & measured yourself against good riders in a controlled environment? KB

    Sad to hear MG have not matched the quality of their after sales to the quality of the new bikes. Is your MG dealer in this matter also the supplying dealer? This is all under warranty? KB

  4. Enzo does right to ignore your foolishness. Racing on the open road proves nothing except how little regard you have for life - your's or others'. Could you not arrange to settle this matter on the racetrack? KB

  6. Took a ride thru the mountains & over to the coast last evening - fine weather, no one about. Had a blast. It's been mentioned here before the way the Guzzi seems to fit you're mood: if you're pissed off, not focused, rushing to be somewhere else or any way not tuned in the bike feels rough, noisy, ill-handling & flustered. But if you're right - the bike's feels right. Wind it up into a rhythmn & it's a gem. I had a great ride. The Scura is a cracking bike to ride fast on empty, winding roads...love the buzz from the brakes going into corners, planting it in a looong sweeping turn, right over on good, grippy Sport Attacks. Cleaned some of the crap out of the corners of my head. Didn't get involved with anyone else on the road. Kept to myself & got back when I promised. " Wouldn't it be great if it was like this all the time..." KB
  7. ECU that came w/ my Ti kit ran v lumpy. Seemed rich. Swapped between stock ECU & kit ECU - stock was smoother, but kit seemed fatter. Stuck w/kit ECU. Dyno tune made all the difference. It was really worth making the effort/expense. Even w/same kit, each bike is different. Make sure TPS, throttle balance, valves etc are all set correct before any dyno work/remap. KB

  11. Relays just give a low current circuit to switch the main, higher current circuit to whatever accesory. Means the switch/assoc wiring can be lower amperage. KB

  16. Yes. A 1"long piece hex bar. I also bought a 14mm hex to fit 3/8" driver from a motor shop. Available in bike accesory catalogues too. KB
  17. I can't understand me either.... When the rear axle is tightened, the load is taken through the bearing inner races via the spacer (shown in yellow in your pic). If you were to overtighten the axle nut the spacer may compact (shorten) thereby pushing the bearing inner races out of line with their outers (which are hard up against the hub shoulder). This will quickly destroy a bearing. When I measured my spacer it was shorter than the distance measured between the bearing housings. This may have been a manufacturing fault, but IMV it is more more likely that I overtightened the axle & compacted the spacer. As I understand it, wheel bearings designated "C3" should be fitted. C3 indicates some additional clearance to allow for some movement of inner race relative to outer. Another point worth attention is that new bearings should be drifted home bearing on both inner & outer races (using a flat drift across BOTH faces) to ensure central spacer does not cause inner/outers to become misaligned.   20. I had pretty much same experience. L side brng went, then replacement went immediately after I fitted it. Checked spacer - too short. Made new heavier spacer to correct length - no more problems. My guess is that crap MG spacers though possibly of correct length are compacting under load of (over?) torqued axle nut. Interestingly the manual gives a torque setting measured at axle head.... KB
  21. Maybe - but that doesn't mean he's wrong. There's been crashes/near crashes here that I heard about sounded v much like they were due to v bad suspension set up. My Scura came stock running wide & trying to chuck me off if it hit big dips mid corner, I considered it to be UNSAFE. From what I see Hubert's bike is way too soft at back & the vague handling he describes is the predictable result. Don't see the argument myself? I guess if you ride slow enough it almost doesn't matter. KB
  22. Think I first heard about this problem re Centauros on COG forum years back. They rec'd keeping oil topped up to max or just above. Seems most people who've had light come on also had oil levels below max. I keep up to max or higher & haven't seen light & have accelerated hard, plenty. Just cos you don't see the fish doesn't mean it's not there. I'll have a plate please Mr Roper. Can you do em in stainless? Thank you for your efforts. How is the Griso/Breva sump different? KB

  24. DAMN RIGHT!!! You have nothing to justify - You're generous spirit is an example to us all. Ben was joking, I'm pretty sure. Like the wise Enzo say: many problems arise cos of a misunderstanding of other peoples' situation. Wh'appen to your UK visit this year??? Is stainless viable - just cos I like shiny tings...??? I'm more than happy to contribute to the beer fund over & above the cost. KB
