Why didn't Guzzi put the frame rails down there all along?

You're not his customer - why do you expect his service? KB

Like you, I never fancied TT week cos of the crowds. I've been over for the Manx GP three times. Magic. Love it - much quieter than TT week so you can get served in the pubs, lot of interesting, quirky enthusiasts & machinery (lot of classic stuff) & there's plenty of room on the course - you can put in laps pretty much as you wish without masses of other traffic, you can be out on the Mountain with hardly anyone else about...but you still feel the history of the place: Mountain mile, Kate's cottage, Quarry bends, Laurel Bank etc.etc.etc... Top ManxGP racers are very quick, some unbelievably smooth, some loose & crazy, & they're racing over the full mountain course. Still have no desire to subject myself to the TT, but I really miss the Manx - the atmosphere is like nothing else I've ever experienced - & will go again one day. Like Big J, I don't believe there's anything in motorcycling to compare with being on a bike, on the IOM during racing weeks. KB

I put Ferodo Platinum in mine to replace stock. At front, seemed there was an improvement in feel - stock had been wooden, needed a real handful to work - the Ferodos seemed to work with noticeably less lever pressure. It wasn't huge gains but bike did seem to stop better. Back I didn't really notice. KB

yeah - it's the stopping you wanna watch out for...!!! KB

...perhaps say nothin at all then Can't see why something that's obviously been put together with such care should attract such venomous comments. Give the man credit for following his own vision & puttin in the hours. What can you show us Nogbad? What is it Morris? Based on a 1100Sport? Some nice details. One day I'm gonna make a cruiser... KB

Think I heard the swearing ... KB

As V50man says. I spoke with Redline tech: "...no need....molybendum additive is to give an EP90 oil extra EP rating. H shockproof is 75w90 oil, but has an EP rating of 250 - so way higher already than a conventional 90 weight with the moly addded." KB
-
As Nogbad says. When it's roughly TDC that method, I use a screwdriver against starter ring gear thru insp hole to get it exact (well I do on Tontis - not done V11, but think they're same) - you can get a finer degree of movement this way (in neutral). KB

Paul, seen it done a few times, got a big stripe exactly like that down tank/seat on Tonti...Gunmetal on black....was gonna do it white but went for the tasteful option! I'll get a photo. Wide stripe looks great - go for it - not sure about black tho..... KB

Jason, Count me in for one if you do another run KB

Congratulations Jason & Mrs Jason. Enjoy your time with her every day - they grow up quick. Best to the 3 of you KB

You lot are gonna be in so much trouble when the man gets in & sees the mess you made again.... KB

1. Yes.... .........but I found I needed to wedge a long flat bladed drift in quite firmly to retain purchase on first brng inner. 2. No Bearings are 6204 C3 - (C3 signifies increased internal clearances). But why is brng knackered? V11's regularly knock out r brake side brng. Check the brng spacer is same length as distance between brngs. Some have been found to be short = side loads on inner races = races out of line = failure. The reason they are short maybe bad manufacture, or as Pete Roper suggested recently: overtightening of rear axle nut causing poor quality spacer to deform. Another thing that was pointed out in the last thread was that when fitting brngs, drift should act on both outer & inner races. I'd knocked em in on outer races only for years - but obviously it makes sense to drive both to assure races are in alignment. Leave brngs in freezer (in packaging!) a while, they drop in easy when cold. But do a search - there's loads on this. FAQ? KB

Too f**kin right!!! Here's to a good few more - for all of us! Have a good one! KB

We sometimes get a spell of good weather round then ...think it'd be good to check weather as you say - but if we did 2 days we'd need to pre-book B&B....any views? yeah - we had a good day last year! KB
-
I'd also like too see Breva (& Griso etc) stuff here. I think the new frame & drive are way forward (well dunno about that up & over frame, but drive anyhow), & may one day get one myself. KB

Booked on that day, intermediate. Dunno re staying overnite, family n'all - it's a 2hr ride up there - may do, thanks for info anyhow. Look forward to seeing you there. KB

....that's your opinion! KB

Blimey! Just shows - the world over, we live in our own little bubbles, with our own views on the good guys & the bad. WE won the war, THEY won the war, None of it is THE TRUTH. Opinion, that's all any of it is - an accumulation of our family's & our society's experience, knowledge & prejudices. I cannot (tho I constantly do) assume that someone on the other side of the world shares my view eg: how this little lot started - an islander assumes that all imports must inevitably be from across a sea, & other islanders share his assumption. For him this is TRUE but not so for a man living on a continent containing many nations. They assume that cos that man says something according to his situation that does not accord with their's, that he is STUPID. Then go further & insult him & his, by voicing that ignorant assumption. This is the excuse for the axe-grinders to get to work. In the army it is said "assumption is the mother of all cock ups". If Germany had not invaded Russia? If the Japanese had not attacked Pearl Harbour? If my uncle was a woman? We share an increasingly small planet - I don't think it helps to be arrogant, jingoistic or treat as virtue an ignorance of other peoples' histories. KB Maybe we shouldn't air this stuff here - I dunno - but I don't think you should pull this thread Jaap - I read it by choice all 7 pages & found it entertaining & instructive. It was obvious it wasn't about m/c from it's title.

Also you're sat upright & the bars are very wide... Could it have been poorly set up? Had a short ride over bumpy road didn't seem that bad (Corsa Italiana bike I road seemed v well set up all round) & the handling from the new rear end made the V11 seem v crude. I didn't like the feel of the new motor either, compared with what we've had - too revvy, too Japanese - but they don't want to keep appealing to the diehards - they got a business to run & revs, smoothness, ease of use etc is what sells. Type of Carb KB

I've done for three pairs in 16k miles - now on to 4th. AFAIK R&T43 forks are same on 02/03 just diferent springs/damping set up? According to Ohlins shop I asked to look spec cards are v similar. The last seals I put in are the current redesign w/ext lip. Both sides tend to go at roughly the same time. I keep the stanchions clean, even smear them w/ Ohlins grease. No wheelies, tho I do use the brakes pretty hard sometimes. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, maybe it's the way I ride or the roads I ride on, I dunno. But it's a PIA. Any ideas? KB
