  1. Rob - good to hear! Interesting re the PC111 on std bike. Downloaded map or did you dyno it? 14,500miles on Scura now. First 7k saw a few niggly faults - these next 7k just been a pleasure, no problems. As Steve says really smoothed out after around 10k. Engine/tranny paint still fine, as is rest of finish. Jaap's forum is great, but by it's nature is gonna be occupied by faults & fixes. If things are going well then we just get on with it. The only time you hear from a lot of posters is when they got a problem to fix. But I guess that's why it's here. KB
  2. That's what I did - it's still a b*std...but least now I've got something perfect to knock home the bearings... KB
  3. Dave, the gap is a b*td to measure! I have a good quality vernier guage but it's too big to go thru the hub - so I used the depth rod. First it's hard to be sure you're measuring parallel w/hub bore then it's a job to keep the end guage sitting on the flat face of the housing w/o it riding up on the curved section around the corner of the rebate which gives an overlong reading. There's probably a wombat w/ a tool out there'll do the job but clearly neither of us have it! KB
  4. The wheel I got from Goran measures 112.65mm between flats of bearing housings. The spacer that came w/wheel measures 112.85mm. KB
  5. Jason - WAIT ON !!Thought I better check that measurement... I've just looked again & it's a bit shorter than that - sorry to p*ss you about. Vernier is hard to keep square & I wasn't allowing for shoulder on housing... I'll post accurate measure later. KB
  6. I used to think that too.....but with youth went certainty, I'm only certain now that I'll never know. KB PS: I measured the rear wheel (4.5") I have off Goran... housing to housing = ****mm - EDIT : OH NO !! SEE NEXT POST
  7. Whart has some Guzzi ones - "argal" - that look nice. there's a thread somewhere - look up Argal footrests?
  8. My scura has longer Ohlins shock so may ride a little higher (tho forks are raised in yokes too so I dunno). As standard, Scura pegs didn't touch down at all cos the sidestand on left & the front of can on right hit first (hard too). Even with higher pipes & mostly removing sidestand bumpstop, I've yet to touch down the left peg (sidestand still first) & only once dragged the right (& that cos I'd put a longer bolt in to see how far down you had to go....). I ride very enthusiastically given a clear road, but I've not been on a track since I did the pipes. V11 pegs seem very high to me, legs are cramped by short seat/frest gap. In my experience, on the road, tyres (Diablos) slide before pegs touch. Seems to me the safest thing to touch down first is a folding footrest, rather than the tyres letting go being the first sign you've reached max lean.... I'd be surprised if lowering the pegs was a clearance issue for most people & if bike is std, suspension is good, & you got any untouched rubber on the tyre edges you're nowhere near the pegs. Sticky tyres, high pipes & a racetrack may be a different basket of buns. KB
  9. Rock Oil TRM synthetic, 3-4K miles. Filter every other change (sump off). Do low miles about 5 - 6K a year. KB

    The end is near!

Jason & Mrs Jason - Congratulations! The UK Guzzi Club do some kids stuff, but like Jaap's - think it's for older kids. I'll see if I can dig out the leaflet but think I binned it...Anyhow - Is it your first? Good luck! KB

    Rear tire

Richard, RM has a 4.5" rim I think. You may be able to get a 180 on but it's not recommended & would handle like a pig. Also not sure if it would have clearance. BT020 is a sports touring tyre, SuperCorsa is a Supersports tyre - they will have very different characteristics & I think would not work well together. Ideally you should try to match similar front & rear. Some like a stickier front but the combination you have seems extreme. How much wear do you have on the front? In theory you won't get much mileage from the sticky tyre. You may consider replacing the pair? Pirelli Diablos are a sports tyre & work very well, handle better, grip better & wear just a bit faster than BT020's. If you are not on a track or really pushing it no need for Corsa, in fact much better of with std version. But, if you found the BT020's worked for you, & you don't require more grip, then I'm sure there are other sport touring tyres that will also work well, give better mileage than Diablos & also be cheaper. Stick w/ 020's? Diablo Strada? Road Attacks etc...If you are not pushing the handling/grip I would not stress too much about which tyre to fit, I think pretty much any recommended sports/touring fitment from a major manufacturer would work well. Tyres should be replaced at the latest when tread down to 1mm & for safety more like 2mm. You are MUCH more likely to get a puncture on a worn down tyre. Handling will deteriorate also. We all use tyres differently, depends how you ride - but I would consider 6,500 miles as a very high mileage on a rear tyre. You should check tyres regularly for wear, damage & pressures. Cheers, KB

    quick questions

For optimum running, PC111 needs top be set up on a dyno for specific bike. Downloaded map will only get you in the ballpark. Before dyno, valve clearance & TPS should be set & throttle bodies balanced. Dunno about can mounts. Mine (MG Ti's) are on inside & run close to hugger but are OK. A straight edge in line vertically w/bike should show clearance. KB
  14. Heh! Lets see some photos! KB
  15. 43mm I think Scura is best looking of all the V11's but I would wouldn't I! If you're looking on long term keeping the bike then most of the issues mentioned are easy to sort whichever V11 you go for, & you can always change the looks. Have you considered Breva 1100? Next generation. Time will, tell but my impression of it is that it's a really well thought out bike with a lot of the problems of the spineframe bikes sorted - longer s/a, more forward weight distribution, slick gearbox that's totally unlike any Guzzi before (I mean light years ahead of the V11)... & it's going very good price here - £6,999. Looks can be changed, & you'd think there'll be parts available to give it a bit of grunt soon? KB
  16. No - Scura's got the long frame & under gbox bracing as all 02 on. KB
  17. Sachsenring - Lad's done it again. Gibernau just couldn't hold it together...he knew Rossi was coming! Like the "we" gave it away - guess it's team effort good or bad. Hayden was very modest after the race - did himself no harm - he's a good rider. KB
  18. I have a victim complex I need to feed.
  19. Yeh, but Breva keeps similar wheelbase to my Scura, just shunts wt forward, & uses long s/a. I like long wheelbase - i like stability, life is precarious enough! KB
  20. ...an incidental benefit of timing gears might be to prevent sludge trap plug winding itself into crank by packing space full of alu powder??? ...fraid this thread's strayed ... To steer us back....I'm gonna make another wheel spacer! But this time I'll prove I'm as good as any wombat!. If we do the deal, fitting Goran's wheels will be the opportunity to sort it. ...& Dave, Ratchet, Jason, don't let that old curmudgeon Roper deflect us from our pursuit of V11 perfection....he just doesn't realise what finely balanced instruments the V11 range of Guzzis are....I mean - can you take seriously a man whose gearbox hasn't got any gears in it.... KB
  21. I'm looking at 4.5" for handling but also so's I got 2 sets wheels to try sticky tyres, therefore I was keeping 5.5" also. sorry. Thanks for all feedback KB
  22. Wonder what you'd've got if you told her how you really felt? i think this little tale explains a lot tho.... & now we all suffer cos of the sins visited on the innocent little Roper by this thoughtless, uncaring woman. If only she knew the demons she was fostering .... I sometimes fantasise what I would do if I ran into some of the specimens who made my life a misery when i knew no better than to fear them. they'd be old & decrepit but somehow I can never bring myself to kick their crutches away... On a totally unrelated subject, & concerning my Moto Guzzi V11: I grow weary of the innacuracies in timing inherent in the drive chain system of valve actuation. Does anyone know of a good aftermarket gear set for the bike? Thanks in advance. KB
  23. I know this has been discussed before - couldn't find on search. Do both wheels from 00 V11 (4.5" rear rim) drop straight into 02 Ohlins equipped Scura? No different spacers, axle diameters/lengths etc? There was talk the 02 s/a is wider... Anyone done this? Anyone know? Thanks. KB
  24. Just knew there'd be trouble.... ...now...if we all keep our voices down - praps He 'll go back to sleep..... KB PS: Anyone know different torques for plastic & metal valve caps?
