So, anyone point to differences in this mechanism between Greenies & the later bikes? I never heard of a pre-02 breaking this spring. KB

MG Cycle have this Stucchi one: http://www.mgcycle.com/advanced_search_result.php?search_in_description=1&inc_subcat=1&keywords=V11+reaction+rod&x=0&y=0

Very common for v11's to weep a little gearbox oil onto the x-over box. Mine did it - I checked all cover screws were tight & replaced gearbox oil with Redline Shockproof Heavy - no more oil weep. KB

Air always moves to the higher point. To get the bleed nipple higher than the line you're bleeding air from, detach the caliper from the bike & turn it so that nipple is at top. You can also bleed air to the m/c, so maybe start in the middle of the line at the lowest point & gradually persuade air to both ends. Work progressively along the line. A few sharp taps at any part where air might be trapped will dislodge, & encourage it to move upward to the bleed point - be gentle - a small spanner etc would do). Always keep m/c topped up with fluid. Always work consistently from one point, upwards along the line, chasing air out at the ends. Don't let air back into the system through the bleed tube. Make sure tube/nipple seal is good. It's a simple job that rewards logic & patience. Some people use syringes etc to pressure the system. KB

SP is 950, LM is 850 & higher compression with different barrels, pistons, heads & carbs, breathing thru bellmouths with no airbox. Think SP also has slightly heavier flywheel. Otherwise mechanically, inc frame, mostly same. Bodywork/cosmetics are quite different but most parts on big block Tonti roundheads are interchangable anyhow. KB

I suggest you write a catalogue your demands & send by carrier pigeon to the bike's previous owner, who is well known for his generous spirit & indulgent manner. KB

AFAIK No difference w valve clearances - same as with stock ECU/cans. I use 0.20mm inlet/0.25mm exhaust (Raceco recommended settings). KB

Did you check sag on the forks already? KB

Good Luck Michael. Amidst the excitement, remember new tyres... KB

Bad Coil, HT lead or connection?

Don't know details on that small block but first impression is it's just another superficial re-style, in the fashion of hundreds of bandwagon "custom" cafe racers from new pro shops. Bit of cutting & a few bolt-ons. No real engineering, no consideration of line, no imagination. Can see why they did the shot in the dark! Cost? Looks to me like someone's laughing - New York office/Italian workshop indeed. Dunno the relative costs, but to see what I'm banging on about, compare that thing with one of Axel Budde's bikes, or check out the 500 racer that BFG just posted pix of. KB

Yes & yes. You may find pix of Guzzirider's lovely Jackal-based cafe racer here somewhere. He'll probably be along presently. KB

Love that racer - beautiful ! Wonder how it goes? Lot of work on that, wonder what's been done (Link?)? Don't think they were the fastest things... Always fancied a Nuevo Falcone to play with. They're expensive now. Thanks BFG

I have same phobia - never touched FI, always took it to a man who knew. Your words are an inspiration! Which instructions did you follow? Thanks. KB

Changing the Scura Clutch.Options for replacments.
Baldini replied to mznyc's topic in Technical Topics
Light clutch has pretty direct action. Tune-up will hopefully sort lurching (which it shouldn't do). FI settings, valve lash (Manual says Ex .15mm, In .10mm, but I use Raceco settings: Ex .25mm, In .20mm), plugs etc. Rubbers between throttle bodies & head can perish. John did whip out his Palm Pilot once, but I didn't understand what he was doing & wandered off to find a beer. Good luck Mo-biker! Maybe start a new thread re your Scura? Fraid we've hi-jacked this one. Sorry Michael. KB -

Changing the Scura Clutch.Options for replacments.

Hi Mo-biker. Hope you enjoy the Scura. What # is it? Possibly it's known on this board? I have replaced my OEM Scura clutch with a RAM. I also have one in my Tonti 950 (for many years ...but not many miles). I have never heard of a RAM clutch breaking in the way we have seen w the OEM ones. The OEM clutch uses some RAM components but it is not the same as aftermarket RAM unit. My guess is that MG started with a complete RAM clutch, but for whatever reason (some accountant figured they could save a few Lira?) decided they could do better sourcing parts of it elsewhere, inc (I believe)the flywheel, which is the component that has been failing. The flywheel in a RAM aftermarket clutch is different to OEM Scura. The RAM clutch works v well but it is not as robust as the twin plate & can slip earlier when abused. Supplier suggested sitting at lights in gear with engine running & clutch lever in is not good. I don't do many miles nowadays so I don't know longevity in normal use. I guess plate will wear more quickly than in twin plate, but other components should not be a problem. Another consideration might be pos negative effect on longevity of rest of drive-train components using light flywheel, but I figure that can be mitigated by sensible use. Does yours work well, with no slip, judder, leaks etc? They all rattle. KB Edit: I replaced my clutch at 19k miles cos of the evidence I'd seen of breakages. I did it for peace of mind & do not regret it. However, the OEM clutch was working well, showed no problems & when I examined it, although the plate had obvious wear, everything else looked in perfect order. I could find no cracks or damage to the flywheel. (My checks were limited to a visual inspection, hanging it up & tapping it, & using a magnetic crack detector spray - it's possible more thorough checks might reveal something, I don't know). I don't know the cause of the failures we have seen, but I am not convinced that failure of OEM units is "inevitable". -
Never heard of a V11 Sport "TT". A V11LeMans Tenni once did the TT, but that was green.... & it was called a Tenni. Don't thinks it's a Guzzi model - sounds like a custom finish - check it hasn't been crashed/rebuilt. Only TT I know of is this one:

Thanks for your company, Slavomir. You'll be missed. RIP, mate. KB

It's a Griso flywheel? They're both 90deg twins - why would TDC marks be different to V11? Maybe I'm thick... but I don't understand. I'd put correct TDC marks on flywheel anyhow, just cos you might as well! KB
