Anyone know is there a campsite by the hotel or nearby?
-
I use padded cycling pants - they're good. On long distances a sheepskin over the seat also. KB

There are innumerable tips on doing this job here - try search. It's subject of a Guzzi service bulletin. Mark at Twiggers knows about this problem - he told us about the fix - if you don't fancy the job try him. KB

Surely not the same parts?

It was only a short ride I had, but I thought the Breva was a bit flat low down compared to a V11 with power coming in at 5 or 6 pretty much same as V11. KB

Waterproof leather stuff has worked for me when new but has always started letting in water after a bit of use. Goretex seems to breakdown after a time in all items I've had for bike/outdoor etc. If I'm away a while I carry spare gloves. KB

This is a worrying development - Will Scalextric products have corporate cover or will I have to obtain individual user licences for myself & my family? Will there be a general licence to cover all personal magnet use? Most worrying of all, how will personal magnetism be policed? Many thanks. KB

Rich, good to hear you're still out there. Will watch the site. KB
-
Ah! Magnatraction! - it works on Scalextric cars... KB

David - there you go! it's a simply matter of perspective....but ....no....you know what they say about sarcasm. How much did you pay for the Scura?... Really. The difference is the price to sort it - then you'll have an £8k motorcycle.....that you wouldn't get much over 4 for in a private sale........so best you hang on to it.....they're really not that bad...well I dunno - have you heard about the chocolate valve stems, the exploding clutches, dodgy pawl arms, springs, flaking paint & suspect gearbox internals?...still....you'll be here to give me some more tips on sorting the Tonti. Life can be cruel. best, Keith

Thanks whart. I'll check out the website for UK. I didn't realise they were adjustable. Bike looks great. Cheers, KB

Tim, glad you're OK. bet that was a long 8hrs waiting on the tow truck. But F**K!!! that bike ran 100' down a mountainside & still took you 350miles home! Get in touch with Guzzi marketing...or on second thoughts....maybe not .... Take it easy. KB
-
whart, The pegs look nice. Position looks very close to original in pics, are they really that much lower/back? Do they come out wider than originals? Are they a Guzzi part? How much $? Thanks, KB

??? You complain that it vibrates, suspension is badly set up & it has a flatspot. All these things can, to a large extent be sorted as outlined in posts by Dan, Jason etc. above. I have Scura #484 also from OYB. Mine had similar problems + others. It's a Guzzi - what did you expect??? it requires owner input, you must know that after years of Tonti involvement! What's the problem? KB

Yeh but that's just a subjective judgement on the part of the punter. There are dealers who mostly do good job & there are dealers who mostly do a bad job. You can quantify that. That's fact. Someone on here slagging off a dealer cos, for whatever reason he's had bad experience there is subjective, can harm dealer's reputation & may be nothin more than a personality clash. I mean not everyone on here is as balanced, generous, objective & understanding as you Antonio. BTW - do take the straight route everywhere? KB
-
But does he know all the facts & are all the facts he knows really factual???? As bigJ says, it's easy to slag off the dealer, & we all think no smoke w/o fire etc - just gives no balance. Dealer can't be expected to log on here to defend himself even if he knew he had something to defend. Speak to supplying dealer to discuss the problem - at least see what he has to say....if someone else fitted tyres, how is he liable? KB

Weird isn't it....mine's the same, so are the old ones. One day it feels so good, next day it feels rough. Nothing in tuning or faults - just seems bike reflects how I am, how I'm riding. Better shut up now. But I've not ridden anything felt same way, but then I've not ridden anything as much to get to know it so well. KB

Nogbad, I'm lucky - I have the Tonti, & a car. If the Scura was my only transport I wouldn't be so relaxed. I only very occasionally get pinking (the other day was very hot, stuck behind slow traffic) but I don't run it in traffic etc. most times. I've always understood pinking is caused by weak mixture &/or over advanced ignition & that heat will exacerbate it. I don't know much about the FI & haven't touched mine. But Baldrick at Corsa did & I was very surprised how much better he got it to run over what I thought was pretty good from new. How is your FI set up? I now have filter/exhaust mods & hence a PC111. The PC111/dyno really does work. I imagine it could benefit a stock bike too, every bike's different, & subject to settings, tune & wear - how else can you tune the fuelling across the rev range for any given bike? What are your valve settings? I did run Tontis for years as my only transport. I put some time into them & they've never let me down. It's too early to say if the Scura will be so good to me. You say you shouldn't have to modify the bike to sort it. Maybe you're right but for me Guzzis have always been thus & it's part of their attraction, you have to put the effort in...to make it yours. That said, if you don't have the time, money or inclination, you're relying on the bike for transport, & want total reliability, maybe you should be looking elsewhere...not sure if Buell is the promised land tho.... Davidmcm, Scura can be got to run good stock. I think I was lucky - mine ran pretty good from shop. Only 4K flatspot & hesitation/surging on trailing throttle @ 5K. I know nothing about setting FI but Baldrick at Corsa got shot of the 5K hesitation completely & improved flatspot, just by fiddling with (presumably) TPS & TB. It was very rideable & still stock. I run it on Optimax etc. From new it wouldn't turn in smooth, pushed wide, slid, wallowed etc. Turn in & cornering improved dramatically with Diablos (esp using 170/60 rear). Also grip. Back end does move around & grippier tyres makes it feel much more secure. V11 carries wt to far back. I dropped yokes about 1/2" on forks. Big improvement in corners. There's no point in giving susp settings I use as every bike/rider's different. But I did find that upping front rebound & rear preload were helpful. Odd if you don't have damping adjusters on forks. Compression is behind fork lower legs, pointing slightly down. Rebound is in fork top nuts. Both are 3mm socketheads. Pos someone's rounded them off? Dan's spot on re suspension. I'm about 200lb - could only set sag by upping f preload to max. New springs (10 from 8.5 f & 100 from 85 r) = huge difference: I could drop preload so spring worked across it's range. But shock needs revalving for less high speed compression damping. Works great on track/smooth but harsh on bumpy roads. I haven't got round to this. Probably fork too. I've used Kais in Manchester (01942896366 - Nick) for Ohlins bits & advice & plan to get the bike there one day to get work done. As others said, over 10K miles motor smoothed out (just like they always did). I was pretty happy with the bike it was good to ride, made me smile most times. but wanted a bit more..... MG Ti cans/ECU kit = more punch but running very rich. Set valve clearances to raceco spec, fitted Stucchi xover, K&N, drilled airbox lid, PC11usb. Mike at Moto Corsa set the TPS/TB. Did dyno run. More power, more torque throughout. Pulls good flat curve from 2.5k to red line, no flatspots but still picks up around 5-6K. Lot of the time I leave it in top. I'm very happy. It's a big, heavy bike, weight's too far back, heavy drive box, & crude, too short s/a design. IMO frame isn't as strong as Tonti. New Breva box & long s/a & drive shows way to go. It's cost me almost £2k in bits & dyno time. But I'm happy with the Scura. It's a Guzzi. It works well, it's comfortable, runs like a train, handles pretty good, brakes, goes well & I love it. Resale doesn't matter to me - I see it longterm. Why you selling the bike anyhow? How many miles you put on it? KB
-
You fitted Ti kit ECU? After Ti kit & ECU on mine it ran very rich. Motor felt very lumpy. Not sure if it's same on yours. Try swapping between original/kit ECUs. Original ECU gave smoother running w/Ti cans, but now got kit ECU + PC111 & dyno run - runs good. KB
-
All the noises you describe sound same as mine (13k miles). But if yours is dragging there's something wrong somewhere. Don't recall any mention of dragging by those who had their's break up. Is their any sign of oil in the clutch housing. It could show up underneath & at timing inspection plug, could be seal gone, oil contaminating clutch...any clutch slip? What can cause clutch drag on a hydraulic clutch? KB

Sure! let us know when you're over & if I can I'll get out. So you should be! KB

Guzzi workshop stand is good. Would've thought Motomecca would stock em near you - at Three Legged Cross, Dorset ( 01202 823 453 ). Or Corsa Italiana or Motorworks. KB
