  1. Pete, Can you post any details of this? More evidence we can show the better to encourage Guzzi to get off their arses. Copies of photos of clutch failures I trawled of this forum sent to Guzzi (Aprilia UK) by dealer - I am told they were not impressed. Thanks for your input on this. I am considering replacing the clutch as you say, but if things are as they appear, it should be a warranty job. Also, it is still unclear to me why these clutches failed or indeed wether I would simply be replacing like w/like if I put a RAM unit in. I like the way the single plate spins up & don't really want to go back to a twin plate. KB
  2. Was thinking about that...A V11 Tenni rode to a finish at the TT a couple years ago - maybe you saw it? Dunno if it was on std clutch - but it sure would have used it. Apparently some Tonti frames are having problems with their single plates but I think it is a completely different clutch. I haven't heard of any failures on Tenni/Rosso Mandello, but I believe they are far fewer than Scuras. KB
  3. freddy, I knew Scura shock was longer than std V11, but nothing about this. Longer shock tips bike forward a bit, more weight on front, more clearance. For me, it's a good thing. Theoretically slightly sharper steering, slightly less high speed stability. Maybe longer shock was a cock-up & they reverted to std V11 lenghth ? Did you get your suspension sorted? KB
  4. Weir, Corsa Italiana (London, 0208 7154333 - Baldrick) though expensive, know Guzzis & are very helpful with warranty stuff (although Guzzi get the cases done by another dealer, even on the bikes Corsa supply ). I have also had excellent service from Twiggers in Loughborough (01509 263967 - Mark). Local to you is Streffords in Worcester (01905 23532) - I have heard they are good, tho I have no personal experience. It is very helpful to have a good dealer who really knows Guzzis & the factory to sort warranty stuff for you. KB
  5. Brian, No science but I always felt Guzzis needed crossover. Tried separate pipes on my Tonti - lost power, gained nothing - but could have been that specific set up. Couldn't you join the two pipes where they meet? I think Raceco did it that way? I think stainless cracks if you introduce stress into the system when mountings don't line up perfect. My old Tonti used to regularly crack at the H piece until I made up some rubber mounts for the back fixing. Not sure that bracing/ more rigid mounting would help... KB
  6. Roberto, I just checked with Motorworks - sure enough they quoted £270 (inc VAT) for complete RAM kit for V11. Thanks for the info. KB
  7. Thanks, Paul, Murray. KB
  8. I found BT020's don't have enough grip - wet or dry. Now on Pirelli Diablos which I like much better. KB
  9. What size is the Rear wheel on a Daytona Racing? 17" or 18"? Rim size? Would it go straight in an 02 V11? Thanks, KB
  10. Thanks Jaap. The photograph shows gearbox side plate with selector wheels aligned for neutral. KB
  11. Then likely it'll happen again. KB
  12. All 4 sliding sleeves that locate the selector forks should be positioned equidistant on their shafts from the gears on either side. The spaces on either side should be the same. Pegs on selector fork ends appear as four corners of a square. This is Neutral in the box. Check wheel spins freely. I have asked Jaap to post a picture. It shows the selector wheels aligned & in the neutral position. As Al says, check neutral pin is in detente behind top wheel. If wheels are not already marked - it's worth doing. KB
  13. Spares GB will do a RAM clutch kit for the V11 for £433.90 ex vat (£509 inc vat). I got last one from Wessons - not sure if they're still doing Guzzi stuff. Apparently Guzzi have not made dealers aware of any problem with this clutch. KB
  14. Weir, My bike also came from OYB. They didn't even register warranty w/Guzzi. Did you get a sticker w/warranty reg no? OYB are multi franchise - shifting units. A specialist Guzzi dealer may be more help to you, but you may have to grovel. Where are you? KB
  15. Perhaps all single plate clutch owners should do this. It may seem a bit futile but you never know - someone may be listening...I'm gonna do it anyhow. Ballacraine - are you going to fit a RAM unit? KB
  16. Paul, Was that bike still in warranty? Thanks, KB
  17. Replacement spacer I have here is 113.12mm. One I took out was about 1mm shorter. Should be interference fit between the bearing inner faces when bearings are full home. Measure between the machined faces of the bearing housings in the hub. Maybe all hubs aren't machined same. KB
  18. Windchill, This is ridiculous. Who is your dealer? Spring fix is a couple of hours job in the garage. The parts are available in the UK. PM me if you want more details. KB
  19. Ray, Yes, mine broke two left side bearings before I discovered bearing spacer in hub was too short. When axle is fully torqued does wheel spin freely? If not could be same problem. KB
  20. Sounds like rear brake groan, seems to happen to lots on & off. There's been various theories but don't think anyone's solved it permanently. Try search this forum - should show much discussion. Also see: http://morini.com.au/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=3716&highlight= If it is brake binding keep an eye on rear disc's not getting too hot. KB
  21. Al, You worry too much.... You got breakdown cover? Mobile phone? ...you live in sunny California! ...start off - small circuits around the house (wait til the kids are out) , each time a bit further but always centred on home - pretty soon you'll be ranging far & wide KB
  22. Tony, I found same. 180 is there cos it looks big & it's what people want to see no matter power outputs - same for oversize 5.5" rim. KB
  23. Dave, So was there a further big performance improvement with airbox/PCIII/Dyno? Thanks, KB
  24. Today, I spoke with Mark at Twiggers, who originally alerted us to the problem of the oversize boss. He says they have not seen another spring break after incorrect pawl arm has been replaced. Of course, it maybe none of the bike's he's dealt with have done the miles - it's been crap weather - but I am hopeful. KB
  25. Think I paid about £400 18months ago. Came as complete clutch/flywheel assy inc clutch hub (splined drive off g/box). This was for a 5 speed Tonti - Dunno if it's the same as would go in a V11? KB
