Opened a can of worms there... Thanks for all the advice just the same. I don't ride in the wet much if at all. I want long life but also need to feel confident in the bends (not that I'm a knee-down rider either - because I'm not). The bike's coming back to NZ with me in a few months. Most of the riding will be on country roads (there aren't any highways really in the South Island). Don't know if that also affects tyre choices. Thanks again everybody.

My mate's Ducati had a worn clutch basket and used to rattle a lot at idle. My 2000 V11 sounds much like his bike did. Besides the suggestions already made, is there anything else that can be done to reduce the noise?

Didn't have any joy with the search facility so sorry if this is as common as an oil thread. My bike's fitted with Bridgestone BT010r tyres and I think it's time for a change. I understand there are now dual compound tyres out there and wondered if anybody'd tried them. If not, is there a good compromise between grip and longevity anybody's aware of? Many thanks.

I've had plenty of H-Ds and no complaints whatsoever. However, this one isn't getting rave reviews. I think when stacked up against European bikes it's just left wanting: too heavy, poor brakes, poor suspension, some criticism of build quality. Shame because it's a good looking bike. Looking for another Evo Springer when I shift back to NZ next year. Should be a nice contrast to my V11.

Diesel. That puts my bike to shame... Very, very nice.

Arrived at my favourite bacon sarnie shop and went to turn off my ignition only to find it'd vibrated loose, both bolts disappearing, and had fallen down between the trees... Easy fix but my bacon sarnie had to wait as I'd have felt a bit silly leaving it running.... :-(

Thanks for the tip. You just saved me a great deal of time. Can I ask why the handbook says we shouldn't use a grease with MOS2 (?) additives? I found it hard to find a CV grease that didn't have it and I'm not sure the one I've on my bench is really any good. Oh, how do you avoid bursting grease through seals? I'm guessing there's a danger of that??? Thanks.

Shame this had to degenerate. I only wanted advice on checking my oil level. I am interested in Pete's plate though (I'm interested in anything that'll help my bike last longer). Shipping the bike back to NZ later in the year so I'll chase you up then Pete if I may (not got much more than the odd Chinese spanner to hand at the moment). Take it easy.

I'd like to put my 2000 V11 Sport back to standard settings as a starting point. I'm a bit of a pie eater (100kg) so if anybody's got any advice on the best settings to begin with, I'd appreciate it.

I don't know if my relaxed style of riding will ever call for one of these plates but I did enjoy reading the the man's account of his work: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...mp;#entry106604

Just a thank you for the replies. Much appreciated.

I've learned on this forum that the relays in my 2000 V11 are overtaxed (aren't we all...). The previous owner has numbered the relays in my bike from one to five suggesting 'issues' and passed me a new one amongst the bike's bits and bobs. Could someone tell me what the relays do and should owners keep a few spares on hand when out and about? Oh, and are they interchangeable? Thanks.

Hi Pete. What's the plate do? Is it to stop oil sloshing away from the pickup point? Brian.

Thanks for that. I'll go on the side of caution then. Never managed that 100mph lap (doubt I ever could). Couldn't have enjoyed the ride more though. Really like this bike :-)

Thanks. That 'on the threads' or 'screwed in' was my next question. From here I can hear that everybody's got their toys out (just down from Ramsey Hairpin). Will have to go and join them :-) Thanks again.

Replaced the oil pressure sensor only to return from a lap of the TT circuit and find oil all over the left side of the bike. Arse. I simply need to know if I check the level upright or on the sidestand. It's just not mentioned in the b***dy factory manual. And, I understand it's to be filled a little over the max, is that right? Still, was a lovely ride at 7am with a nice sunrise and the whole Island to myself. Thanks for your help. Search facility just wasn't getting me a simple answer to a simple question.

Well, it was easy enough once I had the back of the clocks off but the oil pressure bulb wasn't faulty after all. Will have to look elsewhere... OregonAl. You'll see once you're in there that it's straightforward. Back off. Bulb holders out. Swap bulb and back in. Thanks again.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! Surprisingly the local Guzzi dealer didn't know. I owe you a pint.

Could anybody tell me how to remove the resetting pin so I can get the back off my clocks and fit a new oil pressure bulb? Many thanks. Brian. 2000 V11 Sport

Put my new sealed battery on the Optimate charger prior to fitting but it quickly showed a red warning light. Fitted it to the bike and it fired up immediately (though it was very cold and had been stood for weeks). Any thoughts as to why my Optimate might not like my new battery? Thanks.

Been waiting about three weeks for a new battery for my V11 Sport. Does anybody know of a reliable place in the UK that'll ship one to me here in the Isle of Man? Not having any luck with suggestions received so far. Many thanks. BM. P.S. Went to the press launch for TT 2008 tonight. Status Quo are playing! Try to contain your enthusiasm...

Thanks everybody. I'll follow up your tips. Sonic. Thanks for the PM. Sent you a reply. Much appreciated everybody.

Need a battery for a V11 Sport. Local dealer can't get one as they're on back order. Can anybody recommend a UK suppler who'll reliably overnight a battery to the Isle of Man? Many thanks.

You'd have to ask the mother-in-law. That's where we're stuck (temporarily at least)... :-(
-
No but I just recently shifted. May shift back next year and take the Guzzi with me.
