  1. +1. No need for that 3rd bolt - I also have Magni clip-ons ... and (Docc) are they are good for at least 201 kph, maybe more ..?
  2. Looking to replace either the right side mirror that came with the Magni fairing ("vitaloni" brand) or a pair of replacements to mount to the fairing - mounting holes are 62.5 mm on centre. EDit - Was directed to this link which are direct replacemnents (left and right are the same) : https://www.europaspares.com/product/0/17907/VITALONI_FARAS_MIRROR_LONG_ARM____MIRS60.html (Thanks again to forum member pljks for sending this)

    Exhaust wrap

Thanks for the heads-up BT. The headers on my '00 are quite badly stained already so I'm not unduly concerned about that possibility. Cheers, Gio
  4. Agreed, Greenies rock! +1 When I first saw the Rosso red I was mesmerised ... but original green is destined to become a classic. Gio
  5. Stocker on my '00 lasted over 7 years - replaced in Mar 2008 with an Odyssey PC545 from Federal Battery ($117 CDN plus tax). I have found the PC545 to be just as good a battery so far. Gio

    Exhaust wrap

I have carbon FBF cans, and in 8 years have noticed no issues on my bike with header wrap. I like the way it looks, and it keeps my little hands from getting burnt. And my headers looked like crap, which was why I did it in the first place. Doesn't seem to make a bit of difference in how it runs at all. And it so far has held up fine for the cost and effort involved (low and very little), needing replacement only once about a year ago. So, from my experience on my bike the wrap just looks cool and hasn't hurt, or helped, any other part of the machine in the process. Cool (..!) I'm thinking that perhaps the likes of a 996 , despite being liquid-cooled, must pump a lot more heat down the tubes than our geese ever could ... glad to hear that you have had no issues then. Gio

Interesting addition to the topic Phil. I can't afford carbon cans ... but do like a good conversation in the pub ... Cheers - I guess it's already 2012 down-under! Gio

    Exhaust wrap

Thanks for all the feedback. Regarding the question of 1" vs 2" - I had planned to use DEI's Titanium with LR product which is claimed to offer the advantage of additional flexibility over "regular" wrap (eg no need to dampen prior to installation) and avoids the use of high-temp sealant also, but agree that 1" should allow a tighter wrap ... And yes - no illusions regarding any potential performance gain, primarily a cosmetic exercise as stock headers are showing their age with some stains/discolouration. I'll post some pics if I decide to go ahead with the project.
  9. Thanks - picked up the Cherry (part # DC1C-A1AA) for $5.11 ... should have confirmed with this info earlier.

    Exhaust wrap

Hmmm ... that looks half-wrapped somehow (maybe just the angle of the shot) maybe wrapping all the way to the collector (and even from the collector to the can) may look better ..? Also - according to DEI website (makers of Titanium wrap with LR) it should take 38" of 2" wrap per foot for a 1.75" header ... so I think my calculations are about right.
  11. Seasonal greetings fellow forum folks ... I was thinking of wrapping exhaust headers over the winter (primarily cosmetic reasons) in addition to some routine service work. I tried doing a search to no avail (seem to get the same 200 results no matter what the search topic is ..?) Can anyone confirm the length of say 2" wrap required for each header - I'm planning to wrap to the collector connectors (which is a length of approx 24" per side) and calculate just under 7.5 feet per side assuming a 25% over-lap ... ie a 15' roll should be enough. Anyone?
  12. The switch is a standard patten, but comes with different connection options I currently have one from Radio Shack. It had an arm and roller which I removed. "Cherry" make a waterproof Much appreciated! Gio
  13. Or left side as I think they may be the same ..?
  14. Need a new front brake switch (one of the terminals broke off) - anyone have a Brembo (or equivalent) part # ??
  15. It happens - here's a pic of my rear Pirelli Diablo Strada after a lap of the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton (with approx 10,000 km - I thought I had enough tread to do the trip before I left) - was replaced with a Roadtec Z8 (limited choice available in a 160/60 up there) but the Metzeler feels good so far (only 500 km on it) ... keep an eye on your tires people!
  16. I had the same problem with my 2000 sport - I found that a Canadian penny was almost the perfect size to fill the void with some Permatex Ultra Grey applied either side (after cleaning with brake cleaner) - this was early in the life of the bike and have never had the problem since ... Gio
  17. From the latin "dexter" for right and "sinister" for left I believe ...
  18. Thanks for all replies - turns out the ball was still where it should be but completely coated in grime - a few squirts of ye old WD-40 and all is well again ... Gio
  19. Thanks - I suspected as much ...
  20. Front brake lever no longer activates the brake light (rear works fine) but micro switch seems ok (0 ohms closed - so I think the dreaded "little ball" is missing ... can someone confirm where it should be located (presumably between the micro switch and lever mechanism - ie can it fall out if just micro switch removed ..?) Gio

How about replacing the oil in my dampener with nitrogen ... or will this give me a headache after a tank slapping ..?
  22. Thanks for all replies - "washer guy" never got back to me ... and my mind is at peace Gio
  23. Interesting - 2000 models seem to have no washer and thread-locking nut ... Cheers!
  24. Hey Lubho - I agree - looking at the locking hex nut, the end of the axle is just about flush so there would be only enough room for a very thin washer - this has never been a problem so am not really concerned, just curious to see if others have the same set-up ... you know, threadlocking minds etc But what a great tire kicker eh? I even have brand new Pirelli's fitted so shoes, boots, slippers will stay clean ... Gio
  25. No tire kickers (yet anyway) or even joy riders (unless pre-paid in full) - but a few "what is that?" and "does it go fast?" - you know, the usual ... How about that washer - do you have one? Gio
