Following recent routine start-up (and pre-sale testing of veglia odometer) battery seemed weak (~12v at rest) - but in checking my notes, original was replaced 03/2008 (at around 65k) ... so after 12 years service is probably due. These batteries do last! Will be making an allowance for replacement as part of my sale of the bike btw ... and a recommendation for equivalent. Gio

Hi Kane - here's another pic showing (what I think) are the stock end-weights on factory bars (removed mine many years ago after installing Magni - so memory fades as they say ...) - after removal of little rubber grommets (shown) you can see the internal grip mechanism inside - but not a hex as I was expecting to see ..? End weights are approx. 1" long (corks added in the interest of the familiarity of how we do things around here ... as much info as possible - with a little fun now and then!) Gio
-
Clarification - am offering these pending sale of bike (as would allow removal of Magni - but why?) ... and return to naked config (as have also kept original headlight brackets) ...
-
Hi Brian - per previous edit (and updated ad on kijiji) ... some interest but nothing conclusive - so yes, still for sale and located about an hour west of Halifax, NS
-
Ad updated with additional pics - see new link on kijiji

Thanks - I can't disagree with you, but then I'm somewhat biased! I knew the bike had to have a Magni as soon as I saw one (2001?) - and let's just say that importing directly from Italy to the west coast (at the time) was not exactly inexpensive ..! Having said that - dealing directly with (Giovanni) Magni at the time was actually quite fun (despite my almost non-existant Italian) - indeed this is how "Gio" got the name ...

In PM with another member - seems there may have been some confusion about status of the bike ... so to clarify - there has been local interest, but nothing yet confirmed ie still officially for sale It was nice enough to get out of the barn today and take a few more pics so thinking I will re-fresh the whole ad (now that some of the extras have been sold) - and so at this point : Bike (as pictured ie with Magni fitted) still available at $4750 CDN (approx US$3650) ... and with options on original bars/mirrors/Lafranconi cans (separately listed in classified section) Hope this clarifies! PS ... and to follow-up those positive thoughts/ideas from the Luciano Marabese thread - unless sold separately prior ... would consider including the stock LaFranconis to offer something along the lines of the original design he conceived of ..?
-
Kane - take a look at my ad for stock bars / mirrors in classifieds. I had bar end weights fitted (by same mechanic we talked about in the Marabese thread) when I purchased the bike - he also purchased a V11 and recommended these ... not sure of brand but they are good quality and in good condition (little used as I fitted the Magni subsequently) - and still have stock plugs for the bars if these removed. PM if interested and see if we can work something out ... and yes, promise not to ship you a pair of corks!

Hi Kane - thanks. Yes - the valve / alternator covers were painted by a friend of mine (actually the mechanic at the dealership where I purchased) ... the match isn't perfect but fairly close - sorry, but I don't have any information on paint code (and is quite a few years ago now!) - but am sure others here may be able to help.
-
Docc - thanks for the kind words ... I'm so sorry to learn of the loss of your friend. It never ceases to surprise me how emotional our attachment to these, or other bikes, or things generally ... can become. I think it may also explain why so many of us have been around here for so long ... not just for the bikes, but also the people that ride them and their stories. Gio

Belated thanks again brlawson for this topic, although a sad one ... but a great piece of history / design - we collectively owe that man a lot I think. Based on several positive reactions / PM's to my previous post - I would certainly consider including the factory LaFranconis with my V11 as currently configured for a fellow enthusiast ... these bikes need good homes. I hope this not considered dis-respectful in any way. Gio

Here's a pic of mine taken a few years ago ... with Gustaffson tinted screen on the Magni (original was clear) and Mistrals fitted ... although I still have the stock cans, which although a little heavier do have a much deeper bass to them. Hard not to fall in love with a greenie methinks!

Fair enough - I'll post the used one I have in classifieds in case other interest ..? -
Not a great pic ... bike not happy idling in top gear apparently (!) - but wanted to show as operational. I'll take another perhaps. Chuck and 4corsa - thanks and your offers duly noted. Docc - thanks also ... this has been a valuable community over the years and so would like to find homes for the various bits and pieces that will no longer be needed once the bike is sold (will be a sad day for sure) ... so just trying to offer at what I think are fair prices for fellow enthusiasts - better that than collecting dust in boxes. Having said that (and as I recently learned from sale of the flyscreen) - what happens if asking price turns out to be too low? Short of holding an e-bay like auction, my thinking is obo should apply either way and then sale concluded accordingly. Of course in the case of equivalent offers then I would note order in which they were received. I do like to sleep with clear conscience! Gio PS - in the case of the flyscreen I received more than one offer at suggested price, then accepted a higher offer (non-forum) - and was then obliged to turn down an even higher offer from one of the earlier replies ... alas.

Unknown provenance (picked up at a swap-meet in the UK a few years ago) and includes 60 degree angle drive and mounting stems, but missing trip re-set button. Just tested on running bike and seems to work ok (see pics) showing approx. 20 mph at idle in top gear (on '00 sport on stand). Face and glass in good condition and showing 19,576 miles. Did not test illumination. Thinking $60 CDN (US$45) + shipping but open to offers (higher or lower) ...? Edit - pic replaced (previous shaky one showing 20 mph)

Original mounting brackets (bags were damaged and replaced with another set) - in need of some paint, otherwise in good shape at US$30 ($40CDN) obo + shipping And since original bags discarded ... Mounting plates (with key and fasteners) for the above (to replace damaged ones or fit to alternate bags?) at US$20 ($27CDN) obo + shipping

Just posted a set of stock clip-on bars from a '00 if still looking ..?
-
Both removed following installation of Magni fairing (which comes with lower clip-ons / mirrors) shortly after purchasing bike and no longer required pending sale of bike. Bars include factory end-weights and original grips. Mirrors include locking nuts on stems - both in very good condition as had very little use. Bars offered at US$100 ($133 CDN) / pair obo + shipping Mirrors offered at US$75 ($100 CDN) / pair obo + shipping Edit : Stock Marzocchi (40mm) forks on bike so top tube diameter = 54mm (from owners manual and clamps measure ~55mm open so think this correct)

Factory cans (brushed aluminum) removed from 2000 V11 Sport (shortly after purchase - so very few miles) in near perfect condition (no scratches or dents) and stored dry in bags. Marked S0130D (right) and S0130S (left) - both with mounting brackets and original clamps. MG part # 01123030 may also reference. Selling as a pair for $250 CDN (approx. US$175) + plus shipping.

Further to previous reply (and docc's post above) - some great folks on here helped me out with a few things needed for left side of mine a few years ago ... some only asking for a few dollars + shipping cost - so in that same spirit I will offer a used right-side factory guard (in good condition) for whatever you would like to offer (or donate to this forum?) + shipping cost ... again PM me for picture or details. Those guards do work as intended! Gio
