  1. Al are baldheaded? If not I'm getting the feeling your fixing to start pulling your own hair out
  2. Buck tell us how you really feel
  3. This was my first thought too. I thought i read in Guzziology that the v11/lemans gear set would'nt swap out with earlier gear sets(somebody help me) ? A lot of the miles on my bike have been in the congested traffic of Houston Tx. The high first gear is sometimes a PITA...since gear sets wont interchange??? I thought if i were to use the cam out a Ev i could move the peak torque to a lower rpm range. I envision my bike as sort of streetfighter/big city assault bike.I already have superbike bars and I'm looking at a Acerbis twin light wind screen and fender eliminator from Ken and maybe one of those funky looking mufflers from Ghezzi & Brian to complete the look. All of these mods are being done for my planned apperance in the next Star Boyz video.
  4. Thanks everybody. I have mistal CF cans and a stooki crossover and PC111. My next stop should be a tuning link center and and optimize my current set up and see how it compares to Manley's graphs.
  5. Let me start off by saying that most of my riding is done at speeds under 80 mph. Coming from truck driving background i know that it's torque that moves the load...not HP. And I'm a load! I've been thinking about using the cam out of a late model Ev and maybe the flywheel and clutch assembly.I also have the cam out of a Quota...not sure if that would be to extreme. What im looking for is that pulls like a John Deere tractor feeling. Will these parts interchange? Have i lost my mind? Or does this make sense to anybody. P.S. I apologize for my punctuation and grammar.Thirty years ago i could'nt spell truckdriver.Today i are one.
  6. FWIW I ordered a Corbin seat for my sport last wednesday and paid $ 70 to have it the next day .I told them i wanted the basic black seat nothing special .They assured me that it was in stock and they would ship it that day. When it arrived it was black and grey two tone.I have been put on hold over a hour trying to get the seat i ordered, now they want my ph# and will call me back that was friday and I'm still waiting to hear back from them.I guess I'll be playing phone tag again today.I had my stock seat redone by Sargent and it was ok but i recently changed to superbike bars and the stock seat put me to far forward. I will probaly send my stock seat to Rich for a redo when I get the $ and he has the time.I had heard a lot of bad things about Corbin's customer service and now i can say that everything i read and hear is true!
  7. I've been using Mobil 1 in the engine.Castrol synthetic in the trans and final drive without the moly additive. The trans shifts are much smoother.I started using synthetics in my 18 wheelers in 1987 and have used them ever since.
  8. IF you dont have a kwaker dealer in your neighborhood you can use the pegs off a suzuki TL 1000.This is what i have done. Also the sv650 is the same i believe....same mods that Rich did to mount.
  9. I dont know about the Lemans, but its no big deal on the sport.I had mine out and the sheild removed and back on the bike in about 25 minutes.Sometime's look's are decieving...that's what I like about Guzzi most thing's are easily repaired if you have just a little mechanical apptitude. But then what do I know after spending 3 days looking for a short only to find I had water inside one of the relays
  10. Update ... Just got my bike back /runs great!. It turns out that my relays were full of water. When the relays started giving everybody trouble it was the starter relay that always seemed to be bad..... so that was the only one I replaced.I should have replaced all of them. The stock ones are not sealed very well and they were full of condensation causing intermitent short. Advice replace them now dont wait
  11. I have K&N pods so that rules that out .I just took it out for a short ride and now its gone from bad to terrible. I'm going to load it up and take it to MPH' . I'll let ya"ll know what it turns out to be
  12. Carl I'm looking for a possible cause as to why my sport is running like crap.3 weeks ago I rode thru a heavy downpour .Since that time the engine stumbles at take off and it cuts in and out between 3800 &4000 rpm.I have replaced the plugs and wires/bypassed the side stand switch.I have disconnected the powercommander...also the enricher or fast idler has no effect on rpm /cable is still secure.I'm not a hi tech guy.Mike Haven at MPH will no doubt be able to sort this for me....but I was wondering if maybe I'm missing something that might be obvious to you or for that matter anyone else.Any ideas /point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.
  13. Janusz go to www.mgcycle.com ..... direct replacment $ 525 USD
  14. Al go to http://www.paspeedo.com/
  15. The bottom line is that Veglia instruments are junk.My dealer has replaced 12 tachs this year.I know one person who has had 3 speedometers on his Bassa. I'm a member of a British motorcycle group and the later model Meriden Triumphs had veglia instruments ,also crap. The only reliable fix has been to send them to Palo Alto for repair .Why do you think they call them vague'ly.
  16. Gavin my tach died at about 3500 miles. It was replaced under warranty. My dealer has had to replace several of them on various models. As for the speedometer I do know that he ordered a Stone for a customer and when it arrived it was a Canadian model with the speedo in kilometers/ with no apparent difference in it and the U.S. model other than the speedo and EPA stickers. He had MGNA pick it up and return with a U.S. spec model.I believe i read in Guzziology about different speedometer drives. However if your's is off by that much i would think that be a warranty issue.Look at this way your bike stays in warranty that much longer.
  17. The turn signal lens that Callison used are the same ones that are on the Quota. At any rate your probaly going to have better luck getting them from a H-D dealer.I understand that Moto Guzzi has a ship with several containers of parts that's been lost at sea for 4 months. Seems that MGNA would have notified the Coast Guard by now.
  18. The one on my sport broke.I took the reflector apart and removed it.I cant tell that it made any difference.
  19. Like Scott my bike experinced the same syptoms at roughly the same rpm range. It was worse as the outside temps increased.Iwent thru a series of changes trying to eliminate these problems starting with Mistral cans.Stucchi crossover,K N pod filters , Power commanderThe one single item to make the most difference was the crossover. However once the P.C. was installed most of the drivabilty problems had been solved except i still had a stumble at 3000rpm .After spending so much money and still not having the bike running a optimum level I considered selling it or trying carbs. Two weeks ago Todd and Nick of the MGNOC spent 3 days at Dyno Jet making new maps for Guzzis.I had Mike of mph cycles install the map that best fit my mods.Problem solved the bike now does snap wheelies in first gear[ i weigh 250lbs] stronger thru the entire rpm range no misfires or or surging nothing but PERFECT. I would suggest that you vist Dyno Jet web site and install one of the new maps.To say that the transformation is awesome would be a understatement!!!
  20. IanJ you need to have it looked at .That is excessive i usualy dont see the light til about 135 to 145 miles. By the way did you get the Centaro controls on yet? Im thinking of doing the same
  21. Im averaging about 39 mpg. However i left Joplin Mo last winter heading back to Tx the temp was 18~ farenheit i was travling at 70 to 90mph most of the way home.I had 2 tanks where i averaged 26mpg. I have been told by a guzzi tech that this is a common problem with these bikes .When the temp drops so does the mileage
  22. I have to agree with dlaing .Having come from a mostly British bike background Triumphs/Nortons etc I find tinkering with motorcycles to be some sort of therapy. My v11 is the first guzzi and the first new bike I have bought since 1975. And unlike my brit bikes once you get things sorted it stays fixed. There,s a wealth of information and advice on the various MG forums and this is one of my favorites.I only wished I had been bitten by the guzzi bug earlier.Reward yourself and buy the bike you wont regret it IMHO
  23. 2000 v11/ tank suck/tach/warped front rotor/relays/drive shaft /engine ping. I removed tip over valve and all emissions related componets. The tach/front rotors/relays/drive shaft were all replaced under warranty. The pinging was taken care of by installing a Power Commander. Even though i did,nt buy bike from mph cycles they took care of all the work. I cant say enough good things about these guys/ wished all dealers were like this
  24. Sorry about that last post, did,nt realize it had already been covered
  25. jimjib If you disconect the rear shock at the swingarm and let it drop down you can then get to the grease zerk . Its still a tight squeeze . I learned this the hard way. I took the swingarm off to do it. The owner at mph cycles showed me how they do it . Wished asked first. As it turned out all was not in vain as i had a bad front joint. I would have never noticed it had i not completly disassembled it anyway. At that time i only had 5000 miles on it. Be sure to grease the slip joint as the factory must be saving money by not spending any on grease. Had to have the whole shaft replaced under warranty.
