Mine was two weeks ago. Fully loaded flatbed with landscaping equiptment, and pulling a loaded trailer, BACKING up the On ramp to a state highway...I try to grin and bear this shit, don't always pull that off well. Ride through it, S.H. -
Hola, El Bandito, Welcome aboard, this is a great site for all things MG, with the focus of course on our beloved Sports and LM's. I have had mine a year now. Love it on my daily commuting, loved my 450 mile day of nothing but saddle time, curves and hills in the very fun part of SW Wisconson last year, due for that again soon !!! It seems to me that ALOT of us bought our bikes after never riding one previously, on a "hunch" as it were. But the outcome always seems the same... See ya around, S.H. P.S. I'm 5'10", 33" inseam and 185 lbs. without riding gear, this bike fits me well, fairing and Ohlins package was worth the extra $ in my opinion...

I just got done doing it about two weeks ago. It works. You don't take off the swing arm. My needle is about 2 1/2", mounted to a solid 8" extension, parts list is in a post just above, cost was about $15.00 +/- , this is a "no brainer" in my book. Do a more thorough job of it when the service comes up for swing arm bearings, and new rear tire, and brakes...and, Oh damn, almost forgot the cush drive,and.... S.H.

Which piece, porkchop or valve cover? Mine are untouched (afaik), from the factory, and are TWO different shades of red !!!

Hey, Well rounded intro, cool story. Today is the one year anniversary of buying mine. Saw the green/red frame, and knew I would have one, someday. Loved it's looks, never rode a Gootz. Funny how that is a common thread with MANY of the owners of this model Welcome aboard! Ride On!!! S.H.

redhog, you have now had a chance to see we have both "delicate precision instruments for re-alingnment of components" and "cudgels" available, at your disposal. And they can both readily play EITHER role fluidly! Both of these charactors have given me ALOT of assistance, and both have also sent me to a dictionary just to "figer out wot the hell he just said"!!! (and some of Pete's stuff doesn't even appear in ANY "proper" wordsource a Mother might approve!) These two, and MANY more, consistently show how varied, concise and colorful the english language can be. And how this site is basically prerequisite to owning our stunning anachronisms on wheels...Good luck on your repairs, S.H. P.S. From the "fresh" dull gray and "dry" portion of the fracture on the body of the screw, and the rust around the fresh break, it looks to be that it was partially fractured earlier, then reached a stress point where the remaining portion failed. What does the contacting face of the nut show, rust on the entire surface? Or is it shiny and the inside face peened where the slow loosening would show it worn from subsequent vibration and interference as it backed off?

..to start a tire thread WAR, AGAIN! Your're new, so it will be excused . If you are brave, look up ANY tire thread to see what I mean... I have had very good success by using a standard jack, with a board, under the oil pan, then putting a jackstand under each of the side plates often called the "porkchops". With the wheels about two inches off the gound, they both come right out. Definately give the driveshaft a proper lubing while the rear is apart, you will probably want to check that series of threads, look in "Tech" and "How to ...". AND, if you don't have a owners manual, there are links, here again, to get a FREE download. Check " FAQ's" if I'm not mistakin'... You will find it's a GREAT site, and then will want to "Buy Jaap a few beers!", at the top of the homepage, right side, when you see how fast you have a question answered, and blow HOURS reading the previous threads! Don't say I DIDN"T WARN YOU...Great choice of bike, S.H.

Brown...BROWN??? you have got to be kiddin' me. Perhaps the ONLY color to rival that PUTRID Tenni green . It is no mistake, in my book, that the Tenni came with a brown seat to increase it's UGLY factor. Come over to THE DARK SIDE, BLACK is the new black! Van, sorry but I just had to say it. Hell, I know it borders on sacrilege, but I'm not that wild about RED. ...Ahhhh, I feel much better now... -
Ratch, the table of torques is from my owners manual and shows the 120 NM, 88.5 ft. lbs. The 28-30 NM, 22 ft. lbs. is from a exploded view of the rear end taken from the v11 service manual, which also shows the same 28-30 NM on the screws that mount the rotor mounting screws. You are exactly right about the gorillas, which is why I didn't want to go with the greater torque without some confirmation. I normally just go by feel, which I would be inclined to give a "solid grunt". I feel very strongly about frying a wheel bearing! Again, this site comes through, fast. Now, lets get back to more important things, like pissing off the overly sensitive , Thanks, S.H.

Looking for the correct torque on the axle for the rear wheel. The table of torque values shows 120 NM for the "rear spindle, housing side", but the exploded picture in the service manual shows 28-30 NM, one hell of a difference? One is basically "snug" while the other is "pretty damn tight", any thoughts? Thanks in advance, S.H.
