I saw a Corbin seat on eBay once that was custom made with a silver rear portion to custom match what would have assumingly been the rear seat cowl cover but I dont want to loose the rear seat cowl cover. Are there any more comfortable seats out there that allow the retaining of the rear seat cowl cover? The attachment I found online (possibly here?) so I was wondering if this seat is a comfort improvement and where it might be available?

I'm a big guy with some pretty hefty lifting ability and the 1st day I had this bike, I leaned it to the left, stopped, on a 'not fully extended' stand and about dumped it completely... but with enough brute strength, lifted it with only the bar end mirror touching lightly. It was that day I realized this was no feather. I guess I just never realized it LOL. Ultimately, until I swayed that Ducati back and forth between my legs with NO hands on the bars, I never realized how heavy my V11 Sport was. It makes me feel like more of a man haha.

Man... I knew over 500lbs wet was heavy but until I sat on a clients Ducati (He claims it is a 620 frame with a 900 engine bored to over 1000cc, removed oil coolers, etc... blah blah blah, says it runs 7's in the quarter LOL... I didnt want to argue) I never realized how heavy my bike felt! Holy crap, that Ducati was like a motocross bike! I want one now for fun locall inner city riding! He said it was close to 300lbs. The 620 weighed 370 dry and he says with all the weight saved from removing oil coolers, carbon swapped parts etc, its around 300. I couldnt believe how friggin light it was. if I can on get one and it's even remotely close to feeling as light as his, I think I will be adding a Monster to my collection LOL

Clutch lever in... quiet. Clutch lever out... NOISY
RichPugh replied to RichPugh's topic in Technical Topics
Haha... he was saying, with less rotational mass, it WILL be noisier and wear more at low rpm or until the rotational mass gets above the speed to naturally balance itself out as a heavier clutch/flywheel does at a lower rpm. It's not that the clutch/tranny is noisy RIDING, its noisy with the lever out, sitting still at idle or revving up. it doesnt SEEm to be as noisy riding but I'm also wearing a full faced helmet and hear wind and hear engine noise... so... I'd really like to hear another V11, at idle (about 1300rpm) w/ clutch out and then pull the clutch lever in and see how much goes away. I may ride down to Speeds Cycle (local Ducati/MotoGuzzi dealer) and see what they think. -
Sounds like the START relay is failing. Not sure on the fuse popping... but I would start with a START relay and charging the battery. If the light stays on and tach keeps working, perhaps the failing relay is causing an amperage spike popping the fuse? (BTW, I'm a new guy around here but my START relay was failing and these were the exact same symptoms several times so I hope my experience can help. I replaced the relay with another 5 pin bosch unit then later with Dans GEI units and have had no problems since)

Clutch lever in... quiet. Clutch lever out... NOISY
RichPugh replied to RichPugh's topic in Technical Topics
Well this is kinda why I started this thread... I was worried about the noisy gearbox. With the clutch lever pulled in, its lovely only hearing the tappy tappets but let that lever out and CHICKACHICKACHICKA.... noisy... It sounds acceptable but I have absolutelt nothing to compare to. I'd like to hear several other Guzzi gearboxes. -
Clutch lever in... quiet. Clutch lever out... NOISY

I'd see if I could find out wot happened to the original clutch and flywheel, and if possible, get ahold of it and keep it as a spare -- just for "insurance" purposes, y'unnerstand. . . It ain't doin' anybody any good not bolted to a Guzzi crank, and with only 1700 miles on it, it's more'n likely in new condition. . . BAA, TJM & YMMV I have the clutch... -
I actually like my bar-end mirrors but I'm running Vortex clip-ons... I still like em but I dunno if you guys like mirrors that stick out beyond the bar ends. I see my hips and totally behind me perfectly. I love them.

LOL... Ok then RE-Pioneering shall commence! I NEED that damn shift lever down :!:
-
p.s., I havent had a single problem since. No return on the Yuasa battery so if anyone wants one, I'll sell it cheap. I got my new relays from Dan and swapped them in. The bosch relays I pulled out were noticably lighter and just felt less impressive LOL. I saved all the 5 pin Bosch extras in my took bag for emergency. Thanks everyone

So IS this the actual problem with the fast idle lever bouncing back from its full on position to about mid way and doing nothing for the idle? It does make simple sense that the tension spring at the cam which the cable attaches to is too high so putting a lower rate spring there made the lever work wonderfully. It has some tension so it wont just randomly position itself to fast idle but it allowed it to stay there if you position it yourself. Were you suggesting making the fast idle throttle lever stick on purpose? I dont follow. I'm interested. Please elaborate.

Man that Stadium is nice. Not looking too good in the 4th but as a wise man once said, "It aint over, til its over" LOL

I'm on the same mission. I'm getting ready to buy a used (or new if its the only option) shift lever arm and modify it to tip down aprox 1.5 inch lower than the current shift lever toe peg. I wish it was as simple as rotating the whole linkage down but the movement required by the lever to kick it down into 1st, is limited by the clearance you have before it hits the lower section of the porkchop, which limits the amount of counterclockwise movement you can give it to position it lower. You literally have to make the last 1/3rd of the arm bend down or lower the little peg at the end somehow. When you reposition the main pegs, you no longer have a proper angle to shift up or even kick down into 1st. It's terribly inconvenient to have to shove your foot way under the shift lever and shift with the top of your foot as opposed to under the toe area... then to have to lift your foot completely out to kick it down to 1st. I was hoping there would be a simple mod to remedy this but it would see were going to be pioneering this LOL.

Thanks Nice bike! I cant believe how much a difference my bars are to the stock ones. I like it but I'd like to ride another V11 with stock clip ons and a later model with bar risers, etc.

You cant always blame a .325 batter for batting .240. Perlozzo was fired Monday morning. Lets see what someone else can do with this team. I'll admit, the O's arent in the best shape right now but they have potential still. Keep an eye on the NATIONALS in the next 2 years. Just wait to see what their budget allows them... they're going to buy the best players on the planet in the next 2 years.

I would put $100 on someone already messing with the spring on the seat release because there is no chance that spring could have been expanded enough by reverse twisting or modifying the end to allow it to thread over the cable end. It was like someone had crushed the spring with pliers or something. I wouldnt have reused it on the fast-idle cable even if I did thread it over the cable end... but I did think that was all i was going to do.

After work, I rolled into the shop to do this infamous "spring swap" but ended up doing a hybrid of both ideas. I yanked off the fast idle spring and intended on swapping it with my seat release spring but when I got to taking the seat spring off, the crimped end on the seat release cable was more of a PITA than it looked so I did the manly thing and ripped that crappy spring the hell off of there with no regard to it's future in the world and stretched it out to a lovely curly fry shape LOL. I swapped the fast idle spring onto the seat release mechanism (lovely action now I might add) and dismantled a rare BIC retractable pen of company property to use the spring on the fast idle cable. All is well in Baltimore.

Yep, just got it last week. the grips on it are very greasy feeling (even after trying to clean with glass cleaner) and while I should start wearing riding gloves, I want to feel the bike with my skin for a while first I tend to rest the heel of my palm under my pinky on the grips so my fingers are usually loose riding. We'll see what I get used to in the future.

The PO of my 2000 Sport fitted 'lower than stock' clip-ons so I have NO shortage of a lower, more forward sport tuck. I prefer this riding position. It's less punishing on my lower back. I suffer from intermittent sciatic pains due to degenerative disks between L3/4 and L4/5 and a position that allows me to arch my back inwards, balancing my weight between my arms and legs, actually feels better to me. Most of my weight is unfortunately on my arms and butt on long highway trips (we all have to go visit mom some days) but I prefer it. My mirrors dont skake too much but I'll attest to numb throttle fingertips after 30 minutes of highway/same speed/same rpm riding. I really would like to reduce the numbing haha. My buddies ProGrip grips are great. Grippy and SOFT. He has the SuperBK Simple 699 or 713's. I think I'll get some ASAP.

If it's not a knock, it's a distinctive LOUD tick... not so much a clack. If I had to describe the actual noise I hear under the valve cover, it would be more like TOCK TOCK TOCK TOCK... (I'm really good at technical terms LOL). I'll have to tell you tomorrow after my ride to work if it diminishes at all at speed. I can tell you it is a single Tock noise, not so much a Clack. I would consider it louder than a Tick. Right side is 100% quiet unless my ear is not trained to hear what should be there. Side to side, I hear ONLY this TOCK noise on the left side and nothing similar on the right.

Clutch lever in... quiet. Clutch lever out... NOISY

Haha... there is no doubt, you'd hear my tappin' arse commin. At least the left side anyway...
