I have a day off tomorrow and will be attempting to get mine installed. If successful, I will get some pictures posted! Bob

Yes on caps............Monza, Aero or Screw caps offered. You can anno aluminum but not sure how well theses would come out....maybe others will weigh in. Bob
-
I believe he only does Alu per his site

Hi, It would need a light scuff if you were to paint. If I went that route, I would leave the knee cutouts polished but will leave as is for a while. Bob

We have 10% but I have read posts that suggest that there are regional gas additives in the states that might be more of a contributing factor than the ethanol itself. I forget where I read this though if here or over at wildguzzi. I know Todd at MPH has written about Ducati's having this issue as well. Bob

Hi Jon, John William's phone number is on his website The Tank Shop. He does not communicate via e-mail and prefers phone calls. The price I paid was also posted on his site and when I bought it was 450 British Pouinds. Based on the costs of replacing with a "new" plastic one, even if you could get one, this was a bargain IMHO. He told me he had done one previously and why he said he was quicker than his stated 20 weeks. I was tempted to change the shape/style but where I was keeping the stck tail (at least for now) I thought a replica would be the best option for me. Bob

Hi - It took about 12 weeks to fabricate and ship to me. His website says 20 weeks but he was faster. I was in no rush so not a big deal to me. My tank is not too bad yet but as it gets even older I thought I should get a tank while I had the means and they were available. Best of luck, Bob

Mine has done the same. Got challenging getting it on and off. I have read that leaving it drained and off will not correct the situation. This was my solution..................... Built by John Williams - The Tank Shop Bob

Wow, I procrastinated so long......glad I got mine done in time!

Hi Daniel, It is Chesapeake VA but that is all I have.......here was his e-mail: maunds@verizon.net Also, he use to post frequently on sovietsteed.com (Ural site). Might track him down that way. He did my seat a year or so ago. Bob

the VDST can make one setting change and that is the idle trim, it's a rich / lean adjustment for idle. If you have a sync tool like a Twinmax you should hook that up and try raising your idle w/the air bleed screws while keeping the two TB's balanced. have you searched here for throttle body sync/balance and TPS set up? if you do you'll find more than you need to do it all yourself. Oh yea, a good battery is very important to have w/these bikes. Yes, I forgot that! Bob

Ok, No PCIII for me so factor that in with everything I will say. There is an idle adjust screw. One on each side but most post I have read say only adjust the left. Regardless, when you adjust the idle screw you also change the TPS reading (degree). Should everything else be ok with the bike, valve adjustment etc, I simply open the 2 air bleed screws (equally) to get my idle bumped up a bit. I think manuals say 1/2 turn each from fully closed, but I find that mine need to be about 1 full turn open to have my RPM at ~1100-1150 RPM. I bought a VDST (CD Software) that I hook up to my laptop so I can easily see the results of my messing around. I make sure the TPS reading is 3.6 first, if not I adjust the left idle. Once I have that I adjust the air bleed screws to get the idle where I want it. I am sure others with PCIII's will weigh in and give you better information than I can give you. The VDST is more of a diagnostic tool and does not re-set anything for you but comes in handy if you do a lot of tweaking. Congrats on your bike! Have you posted a pic of her yet? Bob

I was not in a rush so time was not a factor for me. I ordered it in mid September..... so it took him about 12 weeks. Still not sure if I will ultimately have it painted except for the knee cut-outs but will probably just leave it as it is for a while. Bob

Picture of it polished prior to shipping! WIll be anxious to get it installed! Will post some pics when I do! Bob

Polished my shabby one and very happy with the way it looks now.
-
I am fairly certain that is the case and I think it is only outside on one of the 2 sides and why I chose not to get one.
-
FWIW - The one thing I remember folks saying is that one side of the mounting bracket (I believe the left) attatches outside the "pork chop" (kind of odd) and the button head allen secures it to the outside of the chop.

Hi Tom, At least initially I will keep it bare and polished until I decide what in the future I will do with my tail section and possibly paint both at the same time. I like the unmasked look though in the knee cutouts almost like the crome plating on the old Eldo's/Ambo's. No fairing either......my carbon one still looks good and will prob do a tail before a screen but will see. FWIW John has been great to work with at the Tank Shop. I was aprehensive changing the style to something different as I did not want fit issues with my existing tail. he said he could/had made a replica so I went that route so I am hoping for a simple pull off and replace (I think I have used these words in the past ) I will post more after the holidays when I get her and install. Bob

Just thought I would share this with you. It will be polished and shipped later in the week from John Williams at The Tank Shop! Merry Xmas from the Mrs! :> Bob

Hi Paul, I am a bit confused (easy to do). Are you saying you do not think the Tank Shop tank pictured does not look like our V11 "bulbous" tank? To my eyes I think it looks very close. I hope to use, at least in the short term, my stock tail. According to John Williams, he said it is a replica and will integrate with my stock pieces. Am I missing something? Bob

Also, if I were buying again, I would like this buy this Stucci. You can detach the rack and add a grab bar if you choose when you are having a "poser" day. :>
-
I opted for the MG rack although it stated cary weight is only about 7 pounds. I was told they actually can hold much more. For me, I rarely need more than a backpack or gym bag and I yhought it goes best with the lines of my bike. If you are looking potentially to carry more weight you may want the non Guzzi options. Bob

True, John did mention that as well. Because I ride primarily in the city it was not an added bonus for me though but would be for many folks! Bob

Good Question. I am guessing it is purely cosmetic really. This being said I do get quite put off that it is nearly impossible to get my plastic on back on whenever I take it off. I really "bang" her hard to get her on as she has expanded so much. If I didn't get this my next step would be to elongate the hole to give me another half an inch. Where I am currently working (Knock Wood), this seems like the right time for this foolishness! Bob

Hi Paul, When I spoke with John, he said he was building a replica V11 tank. He has a pic on his site. My goal in the short term is to use my existing tail. This pic is on his site under "Your Bikes" Bob
