  2. I found carefull attention to balance of butterflies and setting TPS almost cured the sneeze for me, I finally opened up the clearance on valve backlash fractionally and totally cured. Cans on my bike are totally straight through specials I made up myself.
  3. Pork chops where looking tatty, (chipped, coating rubbed off with boots etc.) Removed them to polish and have a general look see and clean up. I understand that the swing arm has to be centralised by adjusting the swing arm pivot shafts, once this is done is there a torque setting to put correct pre-load on the interface between swing arm and pivot bolt? Thanks for any advice.
  4. When I bought my Guzzi in 2007 I was really impressed with the quality, this compared to other bikes I have owned over the years. However having ridden it through a couple of british winters I was a bit miffed to see a number of small pin holes appearing on the silencer sleeves, these pin holes were weeping what looked like moisture. Anyway when dried, a little Araldite mixed with black paint carefully applied to the pin holes and they dissapeared. Last winter some of the holes became a lot worse so time to investigate. When silencers removed I took off the sleeves only to find the inside part of the silencer made of mild steel, this wrapped with what looked like a thin piece of fiberglass and the aluminiun sleeve telescoped over. I can only think that moisture getting between the sleeve and the inner was causing some sort of reaction between the steel and aluminium, hence the corrosion and subsequently the pin holes. Conclusion, throw away these poor quality, heavy, originals and fit something lighter and better in appearance. I looked at various options all of which were very expensive and difficult to get hold of. I really wanted the silencers to be higher than the originals, as I don't carry pillions on this bike I did not mind removing the rear pegs. Anyway after many hours of thought and measureing, I came up with what you see in the pictures attached. The silencers were bought from a company called DTC in the UK, they are trioval titanium 380 m/m long fitted stanless steel end caps, the link pipes I made up myself from stainless steel 45 degree elbows TIG welded together, the hanging bracket again I made up myself. The result I am pleased with, sound is awesome. The originals in the bin!!!
  5. Just checked exhaust Co values prior to balancing throttle bodies and resetting TPS, Left hand pipe 0.6%, right hand pipe 0.05%!! Anybody have any idea what the Co value should be and how close each pipe should be. Any advice would be much appreciated, Thanks.
  6. Good advice, head covers off without removing fairing, valve clearances done, gaskets made, all back together. Thanks. Will sort headlight relay when fairing does need to come off.
  7. Tried a retight, still weeping just a little. Thanks for all help.
  8. Any suggestions would be wellcome, I have an oil leak from the head cover joint to cylinder head on my 05 LeManns, Have decided to remove both head covers, check valve clearences and renew both gaskets. Any tips to remove the fairing would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  9. Hi I spent quite some time looking at various methods of fixing for my Quest II, didn't have a lot of success so I fabricated my own. Used 6m/m thick alloy for the bracket, used 2m/m thick rubber between alloy bracket and base mount of body that sat nav clips into. No vibration or any other issues. Took a few hours to fabricate but well worth the time.
  10. Hi, I use an Abba superbike stand to lift back, then an Abba lift under the front of the sump, works perfect-totally stable. Use the same kit on my GSXR and MV. Beauty of Abba stands and lifts you can buy the adaptors to fit different bikes.
  11. Hi again, thanks for all help, whipped out oil light sensor, thread size 12X1.5m/m. Thanks again.
  12. Hi, Thanks for that, I have seen your kit and in my opinion it is very nice. However I am able to make up my own kit on the understanding I would like to remove the oil light switch, fit an adaptor, refit the oil light switch, then fit an electrical gauge sender to the adaptor. All I would like to know is the size of the oil light switch thread, this to save me removing it for investigation.
  13. Hi Guys, need a little help with thread size on the oil pressure switch. I would like to fit an oil pressure gauge to my 06 V11 LeMans just to monitor the pressure you understand. Rather than take out the switch and render the bike unusable for the duration, I was hoping that somebody out there would be able to tell me the size and spec of the thread, this to enable me to purchase said adaptor along with gauge etc. and fit it in one hit. Thanks in advance for all your help.
  14. Thanks for the advice, plenty to think about, will give it a go when I get chance next week, Thanks again.
  15. Have recently purchesed a 2005 Le Mans, love it to bits. Have read about modifying stock cans to produce a little more volume, but these threads seem to be a few years old. Has anybody done this modification? if so how? does it affect the performance at all? Thanks in advance for any help.
