  1. Naming professions : James Mariner . He is the last of my counsel . He is 90 yrs old and I am not sure he finished High School . This man can explain why one carb is jetted differently than the other on a M/G bike , he can explain steering geometry , anything having to do w/motorcycles . He has owned all brands . His brand of choice : Moto Guzzi . He said one time , every die hard Guzzi owner is some type of craftsman . The owners are an authority on some kind of subject and can/do apply it to their bike. They are not riding a German bike where the owner has his grips installed at his local dealership , has someone else change the oil , etc. There are better motorcycles but Moto Guzzi is bike of choice for a professional .
  2. We don't have that choice. I don't like it any more than you . I prefer 1/4-20 over 6mm-1.0 but I don't have the power to decide . FWIW , I think Canada still has USS and SAE fasteners and everything is built in inch sizes . I went to a Thomas brand equipment school and everything was standard except the (Kubota) powereplant .
  3. Well.......... it depends on how old you are
  4. Did you buy the metric or standard model ? I remember seeing a 3-D printer set-up and ancillary products YEARS ago at a trade show in Louisville and did not appreciate what I was looking at . This stuff was so futuristic it just looked "neat" . I wish I could go back in time and approach that display again . I would look at it differently
  5. When looking for horsepower , you have to follow the dyno and do "what you gotta do".
  6. Around here Mo. & Il. require front/rear plates . Ky & Tn do not require front/rear plates . The plate covers were advertised in Automobile magazine to filter mounted cameras for speeders . I am sure the decals performed the same deed for the plates.
  7. That question was on Jeopardy , you will be surprised when the new century does begin . Also , you can get license plate covers that keeps the plate from being photographed and decals the cover the digits and makes them incapable of being photographed .
  8. I thought Excel was a good product ? Was in the front , rear or both rims that were splitting and were these a special "run" of product that was made for MG ?
  9. Live by this maxim : ANYBODY is capable of ANYTHING
  10. what brand were the original rims ?
  11. HeLL no. Mine on the black frame and red frame were all I needed . I had to use a heat gun and the best SnapOn Allen socket known to man to get them apart . I got some spare screws from Fastenal for the next time. I had to remove the assemblies to get the job done. The fact is , the more you do it , the easier it gets !
  12. That is funny . Also thank you for being the interpreter !
  13. Well , they come in two categories : easy and impossible .
  14. You can do it . Just take plenty of pictures and make note of all lines as to where they are . after you do it 3 or 4 Xs it gets EZ . Remove things to make everything easier .
  15. There are some noises that NEED to be there . Mechanical lifters , clutch sounds ( lever pulled in or released) , straight cut gears , etc. If you know what you are hearing . Wow ! If it is making expensive sounds , not wow .
  16. Please explain which spring you are looking for ? Can you tell us if it is inside the shift cover ? Maybe someone can post a diagram and you can identify it.
  17. Mmmmm. don't forget , that every screw has some sort of Loctite on it.
  18. You could remove one intake manifold and install it on the assy. and put it back together .
  19. No , but you can buy the assy. for (probably) a good price , inspect it . If it looks good , install it . If not , tear into it and try to make one out of two .
  20. I see no reason they would NOT work . If you have access to Moto Guzzi parts you could see if it will . And , yes this is considered an assy. that is why EVERYTHING has Loctite on everything w/threads . I don't like it but that's the way it goes . If you were trying to fix one side you would have to find a dismantler that would be willing to part this out. Good Luck
  21. The NGK caps are a part # LB05F . I think I put them on my red frame after dropping it in the Waffle Hut parking lot.
  22. Enrico Caruso is ok . George Thorogood , he is "Bad to The Bad" !
  23. BTW , if noise bothers you , you don't need a MotoGuzzi .
