  1. Yes.
  2. Measure the o.d. of the filter and get one . The filter seal is probably around o-ring instead of a square o-ring . This is notorious for coming loose . I know how to tighten oil filters , I have installed as many as anyone on this site . Mine has a hose clamp SECURING it and my knowledge it is not coming loose.
  3. Well , you can tell us the year , color , etc....
  4. As Harry Nillson said "Now lemme get this straight.." You can get the transmission into neutral , you can get the transmission into 1st gear and move forward in 1st , you can get the transmission then to shift into 2nd gear and move forward in 2nd gear. Then you cannot get the transmission into 3rd gear. Is this correct ?
  5. No kiddin' ? You can catch a tool truck and get one or a machine shop tool vendor if you want a permanent one. If there are any European or British bike shops around you , you might be able to borrow the stuff over the weekend or they will help you do this.
  6. I think you are looking at doing something that is not necessary unless it is running terrible , will not start or is backfiring upon start-up. This is a check of the camshaft timing would be the proper term.
  7. Is your flywheel aluminum ? If not , can you get a machine shop to refinish it for you ?
  8. Maybe....
  9. You need it . Period.
  10. If you are really serious , get a spark plug gapping tool from SnapOn or the likes. They look like pliers and will properly gap and square up the center and ground electrodes. Just don't squeeze too hard or you will push the center electrode down into the porcelain.
  11. Since the timing is "fixed" , I don't know what you are going to do.
  12. I didn't see a Roper plate in that pile of parts . Get one.
  13. Are there different charges when they are sent as a gift ?
  14. Keep in mind , this is going to be the best bike you will ever own or the biggest regret you ever make. Do not be afraid to ask questions and take advice. Post pics when you get it in hand .
  15. Uh....they are discontinued . Look here , Moto guzzi dealers for NOS , Amazon or eBay for one.
  16. Step # 1 . How much do you know about electrical theory & diagnosis ? When you say "blew up" , what do you mean ?
  17. Good article & good pics to show how-to .
  18. Don't slap anything...Inpeect all connections and run a ground from the engine ( with shakeproof washers between the ground cable to surface ) to the regulator . Renove the alternator cover and look for any hot / burnt places on anything ! Contact Euromotoelectrics for advice / parts while doing this .
  19. Bbennett , how good are you with doing electrical work ? This is now going to be important !
  20. I do not think the weather is a factor . With a DVOM connected to the battery , what are the voltages @ idle , 1200 , 1500 & 2000 RPM ?
  21. I think draining the transmission oil will tell you what you want / don't want to know .
  22. I'm with Kiwi Roy , how did you conclude the stator is bad ? The rotor is attached to the c/shaft end and the stator is attached to the timing cover .
  23. Disconnect one terminal of the battery , fully recharge the battery , wait one day and then check the battery voltage . If is is down , the battery will not hold a charge and needs replacement . If it is good , you have a drain and is running the battery down and you need to find the source of the drain .
