  1. I don't have an answer for you. there are many reasons . I DIY because I trust myself and myself only .
  2. Don't spend any more than you can afford to throw away. IF (I am sure) you are talking about the timing belt you might want to plan for the worst . IDK if these are interference engines or not ? Bent valves , damaged head , piston , bent rod , etc . It has the possibility of getting upside down pretty quick . There is a reason for cam belt maintenance .
  3. These things are superior as long as nothing can knock them off the pan . They are used all the time on stationary equipment . e.g. power supplies , light plants , water transfer plants , etc. You don't have to fumble around R&R the drain bolt and making a mess . I would use these where the drain plug is shielded very good and no chance of it being knocked off or damaged.
  4. It must be a pretty important relay then ! Are they repairing it now and have you checked into a solid state relay to replace the original ?
  5. What is wrong w/the Ducati ?
  6. 99% of Guzzi happens at the wrong time . I was reading a test report of the Quota when it was a new bike . the writer was telling about all the -s about the bike and ended up telling about a 60mph get-off on a dirt road . his crash bent a lever and a few scratches. I will paraphrase what he said " I am convinced the only thing that will harm this bike is a depleted uranium bullet" . The first bike had some rims splitting and something else , I can't remember.

    bleed tool

BTW , apply just enough air pressure to cause a good flow of liquid through the hydraulic system .
  8. Do you like riding the Quota ?
  9. Just a WAG , I am sure they have enough trouble w/unlicensed drivers . Uninsured drivers would result in tickets for 75% of drivers and the Court system would explode ! I have found , I get better results w/a happy officer than I do being a SovCit smartass w/a degree in Obfuscation. BTW , I meet a lot of police , it must be my driving habits , and I try to be nice !

    bleed tool

I will have to look and see what is needed (once it gets daylight) and get back on this . I have a Mighty-Vac and a Phoenix brake bleed tool and a drawer full of mess to help w/my attempts . If you have extra reservoir caps you may be able to rig up something to pressurize the system to push the fluid out of the system . I've bled all mine w/a simple method and didn't use a bunch of stuff. It might not hurt to do this on a annual or biennial basis . AND be sure to use fresh DOT-4 fluid .
  11. That little 666 device in your pocket tells "someone" EVERYTHING you are doing . It monitors your driving habits , speed , location 7/24 . Your preferences in ice cream , political propaganda , pornographic "research" , anything . Some entity is very interested in you and the population of the Earth . 1984 came a long time ago.
  12. When we changed insurance companies we got these little toys too . HE double hockey sticks NO . Not only do they get your driving habits , they can provide them to all other providers.
  13. It is not just Deere & Co. doing this . Highway trucks , offroad equipment , just about anything computer controlled has this "feature" . I understand a Co. keeping this technology "unavailable to the public" to keep farmers from "fixing" things. The JD dealer could have sent someone out w/a scanner and diagnosed this guy's problem and helped him get going. You have to adjust your schedule to accommodate people . Do understand , what you see on this computer may have or may not have happened . My SnapOn scanner cost me $10k + $150/mo subscription and I am not going to loan it to someone and let them use it and bring it back messed up.
  14. AFA farm equipment , Deere & Co. lets you know , you might own the tractor , combine or other self propelled equipment BUT they own the technology . Hmmm. FWIW , when the Russians (or whatever they now go by) liberated all the green equipment a neighboring Country and took it somewhere else , after a week or so ALL their self propelled green stuff shut down and would no longer run
  15. I worked for this "Helen Reddy" and was instructed to open an oil filter so they could examine the contents of an oil filter . I was required to use a "whizzer" or air powered cutoff tool to disassemble . I told said boss that using that tool would mess up everything leaving grinder mess everywhere . Boss told me they could ignore all the debris and still make a good evaluation.
  16. Mmmm. post the video of him opening the oil filter(s) please .
  17. I like your last sentence !
  18. At my age I wonder if they make Depends in Guzzi red ?
  19. IDK what happened in your case . i usually shut it off hot and go to it. I don't like to leave the oil drain for a long time. Do inspect the filter you remove and inspect the mating surface where the filter goes to make sure everything is all clear . Also look at the filter you are installing to verify there is seal/gasket going back on. If you want to keep up your habit , remove the oil press. switch and plumb in a hose so you can purge the air and see when it primes . Do mount the end of the hose so oil will not go everywhere when it primes. Shut it off and reinstall the switch .
  20. H/D is the worst . If you make and or sell a wooden board , metal stuff , clothing w/anything resembling Harley Davidson or orange and black , they will shut you down .
  21. IDK the good points / bad points on a Griso . Roper would have more weight on this subject than me. If you are looking , get an objective / subjective opinion . Don't buy it because it looks good .
