  1. That will be no problem at all. How much oil do you lose in this process ?
  2. Oh yeah..........there is at lesst one member that has one. It came from The Tank Shop, in England ?
  3. Did someone else verify your EXACT speed for you ?
  4. An aluminum fuel tank will cure every problem you have. Other than that............you will have to endure this .
  5. You use the spark plug brand and part # your service or owners manual calls for. No wildcat brand or extra irridium-plutonium-platinumstuff........
  6. Whew..........you have a lot of time on your hands !
  7. If you have been running Redline, I would continue to use it. Google a dealer or call around and locate a seller in your area. You should be able to locate this in your area.........
  8. oh.....the sound is "Bad to the Bone" .
  9. Yes, he and Charley Boorman made two movies..The Long Way Round & The Long Way Down...He made it plain where his heart is.. with his Griso !

  11. TB's are now synched, seemed like about 17 on the mercury sticks. TPS is at 520 at idle. Bleed screws 1/2 out. Idle around 1400. Ran great until it got hot, then started snick snick hiccups and wanting to die at stop signs. I'll check the valve lash and report back. Seems like the hotter the bike gets the worse it runs. Does the engine temp sensor lean out the mixture when the engine gets hot? Thanks again Docc, you are a huge help. Are you running a stock ECU or PowerCommander ?
  12. There area few auto mechanics that loathe the K&N air filter. Me being one. I prefer the stock paper filter media. Yes, the filters are free.
  13. Arguement #1 applies to the automotive field . Arguement #2 involves any engine with an air filter. My specious arguement. #1 when a K&N oil impregnated air filter is used where there ia a Mass Air Flow meter is in the air inlet ( between the said filter and throttle plate) an accumulation of oil will get deposited on the two resistors in the MAF meter. This in turn causes the dust that passes the air filter to get stuck on the resistors in the meter. This accumulation acts as an insulator and changes the ability to read the airflow properly. When this takes place the MAF sensor cannot properly cleaned or serviced. It requires replacement. All General Motors Corp. vehicles will void the warranty if a K&N air filter is used. #2 I do not know what exact micron size a K&N filter will capture, so I cannot argue that point. I do know I do not think much of washing a filter ( and allowing the trapped dirt to then get on both sides of the filter) and putting oil back on (not an exact science), it then putting it back in service. When I rode dirt bikes, I decided it was best to just buy a new air filter, properly oil it, and install it rather than taking a chance on washing the filter . I want to state this is MY personal opinion. I am not on this site to argue with anyone. I have dumbasses on iatn.net to do that with. p.s. there is nothing wrong with properly washing and re-using a $10.00 condom either.
  14. I don't care for them....... I have seen bad results with them in them in the automotive field. I know it is a free country and you can do what you want. I do not think you can properly clean them and re-oil them w/o impurities getting on the inside of the filter.
  15. When you understand the proper sequence, it will be snap to do.
  16. The thread locker is a permanent solution. I don't think you want that. Maybe a pipe thread sealant or something like that?
  17. If you want a pair I will give them to you with this disclaimer...........K&N is something I will never run on anything. The only thing they filter out is something larger than a small rock.........
  18. If you want to do anything, buy another fuel tank (and what other parts you want to paint) and do what you want to with them. Save the original parts for when you decide to return to stock.
  19. Tell them "Happy Birthday" from V11 !
  20. To the best of my knowledge.... that screw is the tone adjutment. To test your horn, disconnect the wire plugging on to the horn and run a jumper from the B+ of the battery to the terminal of the horn. It should honk, blow or make some kind of noise.
  21. Ditto ...........
  22. My problem was the switch. Remove the switch assy from the hendle bar and spray a contact cleaner and lube spray ( available at an electronics store) into the switch and work it very much and it should start working.
  23. The shim for the crank sensor only determines "air gap" between the sensor and the teeth of the gear. It will not affect timing since it is adjusting a perpendicular distance.
  24. I don't think bicycle spokes are made from spring steel stock ?
  25. Jaap, You, your website and all the members are a great complement to owning a V11 .
