  1. Most people like to set the TPS @ 450mV with the KOEO. If that doesn't help, you will probably need to get a PowerCommander module to straighten it out. The head shake is something you can live w/out ! I would suspect you need new front tire. Wait for others to give their 2cents worth before you act.
  2. After a 2 yr hibernation I decided to move my 87 LeMans SE over to the other (heated) shop. Yuck. Dirt daubers had clogged the exhaust pipes, fuel smelled and looked like poison. The choke cables were stuck. Well after replacing broken / deteriorated parts, fuel tank cleaning, o/hauling carbs, repairing choke mechanisms and air filter replacement I am (I think) ready to reassemble. Wrong!!!!!!!! I start back together only to find I don't remember how to route the choke cables...and I hope I am correct about the fuel line banjos. Does anyone have a bike they can look at and describe or post pics of these things ? My bike has 40mm Dellorto carbs and factory airbox. Also, is there a clearance on the choke cables I need to shoot for? I assume as long as there is slack in the cables it is good. p.s. this bike was NOT meant to be worked on! I would charge $200.00 labor to change the air filter .
  3. You affect the valve timing when you increase or decrease the valve clearance. The same can be said for point type ignition systems. When the clearance is decreased, the timing advances.
  4. Ha !
  5. Airheads or all of them?
  6. the rest of the engine should be OK. I would change the oil twice after the repairs(within 10 mi or 10km) with a new filter at the second oil change. I think I would use the GM oil supplement with equal amounts added to the oil changes. Do not $kimp on anything going into this bike. It is too good to f**k up.
  7. Umm, well, good for you? I can't disagree; today was a pretty good day for me as well, although I didn't ride my bike. Nor did a lithe young thing in red fishnet approach me....good also, as my wife wouldn't have understood. On the other hand, I cleaned and oiled my microscope (not a euphemism). You are the one with the disclaimer !
  8. good deal
  9. Resistance will affect it. How much is another matter............
  10. There are bullet connectors (in the wiring) that are around or under the tank that are loose. When you move the steering head you disturbed them and made a connection with them. Find them, unplug and tighten them by crimping the female connector and replug them.
  11. With the engine running and trans. in neutral , pull in the clutch lever. If it sounds like something is broke and about to come apart , you have a twin disc plate clutch.
  12. EOS ; Engine Oil Supplement ?
  13. You can cange it when you feel it is necessary.... every other year or so. It is not that expensive. I use Mobil synthetic engine oil in both my Guzzis. The clutch will last as long as you want.
  14. There is no OTC product to rectify this problem........
  15. the fuel dripping from the injectors is indicative of a problem.
  16. Yes, and to keep water out of the spark plug holes.
  17. 850 CCs huh?
  18. If you live in the US, contact MotoInternational,Harper's or Joe Eish to get the correct one. When you call them have a description of your filter. Diameter, overall body length, inlet/outlet dia.,etc.....
  19. If you are through riding for the yr. Send your injectors to www.lindertech.com and have them checked and reconditioned if needed. These guys are the best in the business.
  20. Well, Okie give us your Bowl teams & winners !
  21. Not "a new tappet", "four new tappets".......... Camshaft lobes do go down and the lifters fail. I am not sure of the order though. The only thing you can do is : #1 use the best oil/oil filter you can get and service often. #2 use a good assembly lube when you put it back together. #3 remember the first 15 min. is the most critical part of the new valvetrain .

You will also visit frequently to tell us how much you LOVE this bike..............
  23. A valve spring will get weaker or break in two. They will probably not get stronger to cause any accelerated wear.
  24. Any time you have wear like this on the foot of the lifter you can be assures the lobe of the camshaft is having the same results. When assembling the NEW components use a cam/lifter lube going back together. Use new oil and oil filter too.
