  1. I'd say yes. It's better if you try this in 6th gear, and even then you need a firm grip. It comes from the valve springs. They're strong. hubert H, you stole my thunder............. 6th gear will give you better leverage. In 1st you are making like 4 crankshaft revolutions to 1 wheel revolution. In 6th gear you are making 1 to 1. These # are not exact, so no one complain...........
  2. LubriPlate sells a white grease I use on (in) speedo cables.
  3. Kiwi, I haven't been paying attention..... what are you saying about adding headlight relays?
  4. One good drop will cure anyone from wearing flip-flops, shorts, no helmet & a wife beater.. There is (or was) a photo on Rotten.com with the caption "Nothing gets between me and my Harley" The pic shows a man's face wth a missing jaw, nose and everything between. I guess a face down highway crash with lots of pavement. UGH. Anyone riding sans helmet after that is on their own.
  5. The BMW R1150R was one of those. They had an erly warning device. when your boot was full of gasoline, the line wa getting ready to break into 2 pieces. The replacement is steel. Where these engineers, penny pinchers, etc. get off using plastic on critical parts I wil never figure out. What really smokes me is that the price of the part is the same as if it were made from magnesium!
  6. You need to see Katy Perry's "Katy's Kisses" bra on the cover of Rolling Stone. I've eaten 3 covers already !
  7. (i.e. not Fox) OMG..........
  8. Can you post a pic or is it back together?
  9. You want to perform the cylinder or valve leak test with kerosene or diesel. These two fluids will leak where nothing else will. Find an independent machine shop that will understand your situation.. See if they will reface the valves and seats on that cylinder.
  10. GY The spring is in the case. You will not see it until it is time to see it! The noise is indicating the need for valve adjustment. This is easy the third time you do it! Get plenty of pump from looking at manual, reading it until you feel confident in doing it.... Then JUMP
  11. Oh yeah !!!
  12. David , I see and understand your logic.. You need to work on cars, well any kind of transportation vehicle to see that module replacement is the way it's done now. BTW, what is the diameter of the fitting that pushes into the bore of the pump module?
  13. Do you have the front mounted also? How much is cheap? If you can get a total cost together let us know... I have the Alpina setup on mine. It's tolerable ! Alpina USA has a aluminum wheel (rim) that's 1/2 anodized and 1/2 standard... ooooohh !
  14. Apply the front brakes to see if noise goes away. If it does, look at the front brakes. The full floating rotors click til you apply the brakes. You don't need ANY extra noises on a bike!!!!!!!!!!1
  15. It looks like a one time application with the o-rings having to into the bore and then the barbed retainer holding the fitting in. When you push the new fitting in it passes the portion that is scratched from the retainer of the original fitting.
  16. This ? is after the fact. Why did you do such extensive work to this bike and leave the battery terminals connected?
  17. Cut the tire in a cross section to show him what "thin ice" looks like..... Does his vehicle tires look like this ? Probably not............
  18. A fuel terminal sell to all gasoline or fuel retailers. When the hauler/buyer loads at the terminal they use a "credit card" that allows each load to have their blends af addative(s) to be mixed with the particular quantity of fuel being purchased. "JiffyMart" type stores buy & resell the lowest quality / price of fuel with 0 addatives. All of these oxygenated, nitrogen added, no telling how much alchohol added witches' brew we are being sold is incredible. Gasoline has about the same shelf life as milk today. You must use it in about 30 days or it goes stale and or starts eating plastic containers. YUCK....
  19. I buy from ( have a BP card, rebates, etc....) BP exclusively. If I can't find their station I buy name brand fuels only. After talking to a jobber about fuel quality my eyes were opened to different brand names of fuel..
  20. I hope everyone is running PREMIUM fuel with as little alchohol content as possible......If not, don't cry about it. There are addatives in premium fuel that are not in regular fuel.
  21. That is about the way it is with the plastic hose. If you can get the hose back on and clamp it, I would do that. You want to use hi-pressure fuel injection hose on the exterior along with fuel injection hose clamps. They have a piece inside of the clamp that keeps from cutting the hose. They are easily identified. There are European and U.S. variations too. Google the part and see what you come up with. You could eBay the parts and see what is out there.........
  22. If the hole size will accept an 8mm or 11/32" drill bit, go for it ! You will be happier with that. David, take it to a machine shop and ask for their advice first, then their help. You can get a 1/8" npt and 5/16" hose fitting (if that is the correct hose) and use it instead of the flimsy plastic fitting.
  23. Ok...I didn't know the bore diameter of the housing was to where it could be tapped to 1/8'' NPT and a brass fitting installed.
  24. How is the red fitting held into the pump housing?
