  1. No hard feelings, I was just trying to help out. I know how much mystique (and ignorance) surrounds the field and theory of electronics. I am afraid I know just enough to keep from poking metal objects into electrical outlets.
  2. I'm glad I don't have a volcano in my back yard. I only have the New Madrid fault to worry about. http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/04/more_from_eyjafjallajokull.html
  3. Which early Marzocchi forks are you talking about? One style had the adjustment screw that clicked. Another style had the adjuster screw that did not click. Then there are the Ohlins that are a gold? anodized color.
  4. I suggested testing the (or any) motor unloaded to take any other factors (mechanical, wiring, etc.) out of the equation. I saw this person replace a starter, battery, alternator and positive cable to repair a slow cranking problem. I fixed it by installing shakeproof washers on the engine block ground. Most auto parts stores perform a no-load test on starters when selling or providing warranty on them. You can perform a load test on a starting system if you want.
  5. You have affected the rear shock not the front forks. Leave it (unless you are rich) alone.
  6. Good input and good articles !
  7. You have to figure or test the amperage with the motor turning at "unloaded" r.p.m. Electric motors have EMF and CEMF. Electromotive force and Counter electromotive force. These are calculated factors when the motor is turning at the proper r.p.m. When the electric motor r.p.m. is not at the specified r.p.m. current (amperage) rises and you start having trouble. When the motor r.p.m. gets so low or stops turning the motor becomes a short (the low resistance you found with your meter) instead of a motor.
  8. With the bike reassembled: can you get the wheel in the air, spin the wheel and apply substantial pressure to the brake. Let off the brake and see if the wheel turns freely. If it does not, you have a sticking caliper or brake hose.
  9. 25/46 is 9.9922mm
  10. You could be happy with your method of tightening the swingarm pivot bolts. My objective was to remove any lateral movement of the swingarm. My method was an amalgam of RH's & others on swingarm alignment. Try the flourescent tube(s) method to see what you come up with. It might take six hands and two good heads to do this.... BTW, I don't know if it will help the tire wear. It can't hurt either..
  11. If it is a gas sampling problem, the bike has to run about 3 min. before you can get an accurate sample. The bike (or engine) has to turn X revolutions before going into a closed loop operation.
  12. Roy, If there were a "Member of the Year" award I would nominate you. This is (probably) the most proffesional thing I have seen on this site. after looking it over I can find no fault whatsoever. Note #7 is a very good test. I guess they all are?
  13. Can we see pictures?
  14. Mine measures 0.205" on the left and 0.115" on the right with 10 lb. preload on the bearings. My bike is set to track the front and rear wheels (almost) perfect.
  15. Tim, Turn the ignition switch to the on position. The oil light should be on and bright. Remove the wire from the oil pressure switch. The light should be out. If the light was on dimly with the key on, remove the wire at the oil pressure switch and ground it to a good (earth) ground and see if the light is bright. If so it is the oil pressure switch. p.s. I had this problem and it was the oill presure switch..
  16. Do you know any machinists with CAD/CAM and some time on their hands?
  17. Could you get Rossopuro to sponsor you with their spoked Alpina wheels?
  18. I assume you've Googled the problem ?
  19. acquiesce= to consent or comply without protest. I don't think Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper or Jack Nicholson would say a thing. Being a mechanic and leaning over with the posture of a primate I thought my back would give out. I think my knees have taken precedence (this last year) over any other pain.........
  20. Martyrdom isn't all it's hyped up to be ?
  21. I would have painted it solid white or instead of silver I would have used a metallic white on the bottom portions.
  22. It sure beats my caveman drawings........
  23. I like the "Bic lighter" moniker! The Japanese cold produce superior quality but could not " breathe into his nostrils a living soul".
  24. That's why WE ride Moto Guzzi. My buddy said more professionals and tradesmen ride Guzzis than any other brand.... i love this site and enjoy communicating with all members on this site.
