I don't suppose I should tell the part about the nitrogen in my tires helping my E.D. ?
  2. I'm not the only looking at my bike right now!
  3. with the seat removed and using a carpenter's square setting on the frame rails and resting against the fuel tank I measured 13.75" to the footrest. 13.5" at the outer tip. I removed the seat because of the possible differences in seats.HTH.

That's what the smarty said to me in Cape Girardeau,Mo. when he installed the tires on my wheels.

We were at the European Bike Rallye in Burkesville,Ky. this weekend. One of the vendors was "selling" nitrogen tire fills. At $5.00 per tire this sounded pretty good, so in went the new stuff. I had read a lot about this for passenger cars and was already aware of the benefits. Stable pressure at all temps, very little leakdown because of the size of the N molecules, etc. How many of you are running nitrogen in your tires? What are your thoughts?
  6. the cover is stuck on because of the sealant . Tap on it with a soft face hammer and use a scraper to seperate the cover from the case. DO NOT touch these nuts or studs you are looking at.
  7. All electrically triggered fuel injectors are similar. They are not all compatible. If you need something done send them to www.lindertech.com and they will flow-rate them, clean and match them up if with a good set if yours are bad. Also they will call you back and tell you if they are in need of repairs before doing anything so you will know if the injectors are at fault.
  8. No more sabbaticals !
  9. I hate to be the first one to give a stupid answer. It would be ANY where between $5000 - $9000. Do not buy these bikes expecting to resell or unload fast. You must decide what you want to pay for the satisfaction of owning this bike. These are very quirky and eccentric motorcycles you adapt to. As I stated in the past these motorcycles are for the left-handed. You will purchase this for what it "can be" not as much as what it is. If you do not have "grok" you might be disappointed. The value of owning this will exceed the cost of owning it.
  10. 2003 V11 sport. nylon insert locknut and it APPEARS to have a flat washer behind it. p.s. if it is keeping the sale from going through, that man does not need to buy the bike.
  11. More exciting..... Deliverance meets Mad Max. How do you say "You sure have a purty mouth" with an Aussie accent?
  12. The lifter is made with a concave and the lobe is made with a slight taper to cause the lifter to spin. Roller camshaft/lifter setups are made square (at right angles) to keep the roller and lobe surfaces in equal contact. I thought that metals with the same hardness would wear whereas steel/bronze will not wear?
  13. I'm not up on metallurgy(sp). How close in hardness do two metals need to be so that do not wear? I assume Rw means Rockwell hardness?
  14. When automotive camshafts fail, the lifter wears a LOT along with the lobe of the camshaft. It is a deep concave of the lifter (bottom) foot when it wears out. In the lat 70s and early 80s Chevrolet had a multitude of camshaft failures with no explaination. Replacement parts showed no signs of trouble.
  15. The fact that the lifter did not show a concave wear pattern explains that the camshaft lobe had the poor hardening process or quality of materials. I have no explanation as to why the left side has always failed. Were both sides replaced and did the other side exhibit any signs of wear?
  16. That's better than unobtanium !
  17. I don't know if it was a vendor supplying poor quality paint or a surface preparation problem. There appears to be another surface of paint beneath the leprosy called paint. All the other engine surfaces turned out o.k.
  18. Call me incorrect, the lime green/red frame is the most outrageous and beautiful . The Coppa Italia w/the fairing painted to match ( the one as a candidate for bike of the year) looked VERY good too.
  19. I've got a Carb-Stick from MotionPro. One of these days I'll look to see what mine does.....
  20. You're welcome. It sounds like mumbo jumbo but I wanted to explain how the pressure regulator functions.

    Hooch

I don't have an addictive personality so it was no problem to give these vices up. Wait until you retire to smoke because it was FUN! Music , food and laughter never felt, sounded or tasted so good. A conversion to Christianity caused me to give these activities up for expediency(sp) rather than conviction.
  22. On the Guzzi application,it ( fuel pressure regulator)is influenced by barometric pressure only. On most fuel injection systems the vacuum fitting of the regulator is connected to manifold vacuum so when there is a drop in manifold vacuum as in acceleration or throttle opening, the regulator spring applies more pressure to the diaghram increasing fuel pressure. this increased pressure will increase fuel volume being injected into the intake passage.
  23. Is there anyone close to you than can loan you a GOOD battery. Batteries can pass EVERY test and still be not good.
  24. It's a good thing we don't all live in the same town. We would change the name of the club to V11 I'm going to kick your a** to the motherf*****g moon lemans.com
  25. Just pretend it is an old British bike and park on a hill, or have 5 buddies push you to start, or onto the bike hauler.
