  1. If you want to do this ONE time do this: go to any automotive garage or car dealer and purchase a dye to install in ONE of the places you are checking for leaks. If you suspect the gearbox install 1/4 of the bottle in the trans. Ride the bike a few miles until you are satisfied it has leaked enough oil. You will need to use a special light and glasses (you have sucked up to the owner of or he will do for you) to look for the leak. I have this equipment and I can assure you "IT WORKS". Do not wast your time and $$$$$ guessing what it is, know before you do any more work. HTH, gene
  2. Incredible and beautiful video. It reminds me I need to learn another language. The three I know; English,Redneck and Hillbilly limit me to a small circle.
  3. I would contact Valvoline about addatives.
  4. A homosexual snowman at that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Are you positive the leak is at the crank seal?
  6. A fully charged 12v battery will read ( with a DVOM) 12.65v. After you have charged the battery, watch the battery voltage when cranking the bike. You don't want the voltage to fall below 11.3v.
  7. Glad for you to be on the road. When in doubt drive in the middle for a while. You will get instructions on the correct side VERY soon.
  8. #1 How many miles are on the bike? #2 Is the crankcase vent clear? #3 What brand seal was used on installation and what condition is the seal contact surface? #4 You can clean the friction surface of the clutch disc with "brake cleaner" with multiple applications and letting it dry until you are satisfied. Clean all parts with brake cleaner also. #5 This is the most important step. Be deliberate in EVERYTHING you do. It is no fun after the second teardown.
  9. I assume you do not know what the fast idle system looks like at the throttle body. You can search through the posts on synchronzing throttle bodies. You will see where the fast idle cam touches the throttle lever to hold open the throttles. At the idle position you want clearance on this lever. Look at this linkage until you are satisfied everything is OK or in need of adjustment.
  10. Congratulations on your purchase. It looks good! You will spend endless hours fiddling with this monster..
  11. I've subscribed to this "service" for a couple of years. Moe will send you a monthly post on what they do in their shop. I think they also restore old El Dorados and Ambassadors (to concours condition) too.
  12. What's so hard about swapping out a 1500 lb. battery ?
  13. OOOHHH.........I just figured out that you are referring to the motorcycle.
  14. I can't see one thing without being distracted by the other!
  15. Getting off the subject of global warming, I try to use anti-sieze lube or dry-film (multiple coats) graphite on any splines such as input shaft, clutch disc, rear drive hub and drive shaft. The dry film graphite on clutch disc because tou don't want anti-sieze or grease getting in the friction surface of the flywheel/pressure plate components.
  16. I just finished watching Lipps Inc singing (youtube)this. They looked and sounded a bit better.
  17. I suppose the package can include a greeting card with the "gift" to be official. Nobody gives used things as a gift,do they?
  18. To ALL readers or members, please read this ? carefully before responding. Are gifts sent from one person in one country(e.g. US to EU) to another person in another country subject to these duties,VATs and tariffs ?
  19. While I can stil say it: Merry Christmas !! Happy Holidays!! and Happy Holidays (especially)to ALL others also!!!
  20. Do they have the "Bush" shoe available?
  21. Welcome aboard ! Some of the members w/Daytonas will get with you on what the think is important to know and do to your bike. geno
  22. Never thought of it that way? Good thought....
  23. The early rock&roll that I like the most was the firstborn of folk,country,rock-a- billy, black gospel, blues, etc. and the best inspiration of all opression. No good music can be performed without some form of liberation. This is what I experienced with 60s rock. Everyone (musically) was doing their "own thing" and it worked. You heard an amalgam of music and zeitgeist that cannot be duplicated. Woodstock 99 proved that. Walt Whitman said "You can't go home again". This is never MORE true... The unfortunate result of some of this is that the peace loving hippies became the BMW driving,Brinks secuity cocooning pricks that hate everyone.Yuck! I didn't want to get on that tangent. Any how, I had a conversation a few years ago with Kermit from "Kermit's chairs" about Bob Dylan and started to listening to him (Dylan) with a more adult appreciation. This really opened my eyes about the content of some rock songs. Consider Steppenwolf's Monster,Suicide,America (yes that's the title).Much of their songs were about recognizing problems and changes hopefully for the better. I hope our kids understand "it doesn't have to be this way and you can change it".
