  1. I hear ya ! One wiring diagram has the terminal 30 going through F5 . The other two diagrams show terminal 30 being fed through the (switched) sidestand switch . Terminal 30 doesn't have power until the (good) sidestand switch is closed .
  2. You will not find it if you do not look for it ......
  3. I will have to go grab all my wiring diagrams and take a look . I put my "new" relay in series w/the starter wire . This way all the current operating the starter solenoid goes through the relay and NOT through the starrer "button" circuit . Pretty slick .
  4. The two terminals (4 or 5 total) at the relay plug in , the top one is 30 and the next one is 87 . 30 has 12v on all time . You are verifying B+ before you go anywhere .
  5. I mean where the driveshaft is splined to each half
  6. Just for kicks , look at the oriveshaft to see if it is indexed correctly
  7. Replace al the rubbers w/drilled ones . You want 100 % distribution of the rubbers . The anti-seize is good on the driveshaft splines . FoMoCo has a driveshaft spline lube too . I have some out in the shop , I would have to find it & post the part #
  8. DO USE anti-seize on this and stainless is a must !
  9. My 86 yr old mentor (James Mariner) has always said , there are better motorcycles , but 99% of Moto Guzzi owners are some type of professional . A craftsman or something !
  10. I read this article on The Who . This writer called them "the thinking man's rock" . The same for the Moto Guzzi .
  11. The thing I like about this network of owners , they can discuss any facet of a bike . All other owners need someone to check tire pressures .
  12. Uhhhhh , red bikes and red high heels .Yeowwwww !
  13. The bad thing is , a cycle shop can't pay a mechanic $60k/yr . There is not that profit margin on motorcycle sales/service .
  14. My 86 yr old buddy gave me a class on the V twin , firing order , degrees of everything , carb jetting , etc. He explained how the # 1 cylinder did the most work at lower RPMs and got more even as the RPMs went up . It didn't take long for me to be "lost as an Easter egg on the 4th of July" . One of these days I will have another class on this .
  15. You have to compare these w/the old airheads to the oilheads .
  16. These German cars used to be the "top of the line" . It seems as though they loaded up on a bunch of unbridled engineers. Then they went wild on engineering stupid $hit . They do ride, drive and perform SUPERIOR . Then when they start messin' up , get ready to buy a dependable car while your Teutonic POS is in the shop .
  17. These manufacturers spew out data to impress , confuse , placate John Q Customer . John Q knows the oil comes out the top of the bottle & that is about it.
  18. As usual , perfect advice and instructions .
  19. That is good lubricant !
  20. I though green was the "easiest" Loctite ?
  21. IDK why these people have to Loctite these rotor bolts to the wheel ? It is an effort to get these loose/off in less than 6 hrs. time .
  22. Why do you post something like this at MY bedtime ? I will have to watch this in the a.m.
  23. I have never touched one of these quick-disconnects on a 04 model . I have seen a lot of connectors on other stuff destroyed by Cavemen to Klingons . I know one thing , once you get pissed off , caution and care go out the window ! I have a tool box drawer full of devices to get these "things" disconnected and the technique is NEVER quite the same , go figure ?
  24. Uh , is yours too damaged to repair ?
