  1. Ive always liked the jugs on the Loopy
  2. That will do the trick! A happier tank
  3. I didn't enjoy the vivid blue light, found it interfered with night riding here on dark roads While I had it apart I took some electrical tape and a needle and poked 3 holes in the tape then cut a circle about the needle holes that matched the size of the lens and poked it in onto the lens from the backside then replaced the light/rubber housing. Way better night vision without the glaring light, still there 9 yrs later and no problem seeing the reduced blue light when high beam is on.
  4. If you do go in, go in to the dash from the back of the gauges. ie pop the gauge cluster free (disconnect speedo cable) and lay the cluster over the headset then you can undo the nuts at the back of the gauges and access all the lights once you remove the cover. If you come in from the front (those 3 wee allen bolts between the gauges) you will have to replace the plastic separator as the brass inserts will tear free from their plastic homes. the lights simply pull out from the back with their individual rubber housings
  5. or go with a 1/8 self adhesive neoprene it comes in different widths it is just the tunnel you are insulating put the happy metal tape over that. your air suction won't affect either of them (being adhesive) i
  6. Yeah the Metallic tape works wonders at holding the insulation in place, find some thin insulation. The only issue I would be worried about is heat under the tank in slow traffic. It is a plastic tank, todays fuel has the potential to make it swell, add heat and it wont help. Thats my 2 cents Cheers
  7. Clean the BMC, flip it over, get rid of the aluminum retainer plate and the stock lid goes on just fine.
  8. 12 years ago Imagine the speed of time it runs straight through us No matter how hard the throttle Just can't catch it
  9. Same as mine, went on with the Ferracci kit, In that form it had succeeded in pulling most of the insulation from the bottom of the tank. I cleaned the filter re- oiled it and put the lid back on, re entered a suitable map into the Power Commander and re insulated my tank. Result was the bike didn't pull hard to top speed anymore but I had a better machine for the road and touring- much quieter (not to mention a major increase in fuel mileage- it just about doubled) I succumbed again to the need for instant speed and found another lid on eBay. It just went on with a couple holes drilled on the vertical plane aft. Just to give it the top end whizz! Im curious to see how she goes. And if it whistles or shrieks at me. Do a plug reading make sure you're getting the right amount of fuel.
  10. Over tightened, poor fit or vibration here are the easy things to look at/fix Check the condition of the bushings in that arm, and the fit of the bolts into those bushings Check your cush drive for freedom of movement. Ensure the needle bearing in the nose of the bevel box (spindle starboard side) is in good shape Replace the bolt and Nylock Nut with Grade 8 material from a fastener supply. Do not use Stainless stock. Don't crank on it, its not necessary the bolt merely need to be tight enough to hold itself in place. The not so easy (to repair) is an excessive amount of vibration due to the needle bearing thats aft of the main support bearing for the drive yoke within the bevel box being shot. Easy test- grab the shaft drive back near the bevel and stir it. If that needle outfit is shot then you will get lateral movement. A lot of it.
  11. drained the AGM Battery, recharged it Started the beast. Jobs done this winter- Re-seal, charge and replace spring on rear shock (Sachs). New rear rotor (OEM). Drilled back panel of air box lid. Installed GT grips (a la 70s ambo). replaced regulator. Blew fresh fuel through the filter and replaced the crossover fuel line Let it sit in the rain to climatize it and to admire the water running off it. Had a beer with it Good day
  12. This time the migration will match the Vietnam era if 1 of the current crop of sillies gets into the drivers seat. Last time the lesson was how to grow good grass, may the next lesson be so timely. Heck, our chosen silly even has the same surname!
  13. Bad timing Pity they never got onto that principle of friction/pressure reduction when the motors 1st went beyond the original low spec v twins Better late than never
  14. 0max 6a 1b charger is $70 up here, the odyssey PC545 battery is $160 (CDN Peso) just got both, thanks for the information. Good points re discharge then charge Docc This (with the replacement of the feed wires from me stator) may end the regulator blues Ive had since the original battery packed it in. Interesting times when you have to buy a specific charger for your battery choice. The battery weighs a ton is stainless into brass receiver and fits no issue into the bike. Haven't been here in awhile but always good to stop by. Happy Goosing thank you
  15. As in cam follower or Putin's process?
  16. A drop handlebar Megola for Horror Guzzi late 20s 500S for Art and aesthetic Zundapp KS750 for Winter and cold thoughts A round nose Steib half buried in the front yard for tomatoes and to hide in when the Megola was on a rampage
  17. Wash warm water and dish detergent to remove excess and extract that which will come out. then straight warm water to get all detergent out. Let that dry slowly then apply leather treatment of your choice. I use saddle and tack shop stuff with no water proofing. Ko Cao Line is the best in my opinion. good luck
  18. Thank you Gents! Will apply the sage advice and pursue this little irk to its final end The maxi fuse is a good plan I have noticed twice a heat issue back there on the 30 amp over the years. Cheers Scud The ignition switch will be interesting as that is the one area I have never gone to. Thank you Docc and Kiwi Roy for the prompts and advice. Got to get this Guzzi back to Great!
  19. and those bearings will not come out easy Heat and press, the assembly team lives in N Italy. The disassembly team left the country in '44
  20. Thanks docc I see the numbers I need to reference over in another post about charging Been awhile I havent had time to ride in the last couple years so am looking forward to sorting this gremlin Batteries- What is ok with our charging system, I have no luck with the generic $100 variety are the orange ones friendly? Odyssey I think. Read your post about making sure they are up to operational voltage prior to install. Does one have to worry about glass mat opposed to whatever else it is they sell now? cheers
  21. To the electron elite I ask which connection has the least resistance to me it is wire to wire with solder, but given the fact that we have to re and re components that method soon runs out of spool Which is it? spade, gang (junction). I ask because I have black at my output wires from the alternator these are a bullet connector and obviously not up to the job. I have pulled all but my ignition switch and cannot find an issue in the loom. That includes all 5 point relays and the fuse box. Grounding is ridiculous I have more green wires than the Grinch. I am running EME components. The last regulator bypassed the loom and lasted less than 5 tanks of fuel. Shit Chinese batteries have not helped, which one is right for this ride? thanks for your help Cam
  22. Am I the only one that framed this and hung it up?
  23. Nice. 1st two Dire straits albums Knopflers current stuff Rush early stuff, went to the Moving Pictures tour and loved it! Pearts book was informative but depressing, had to take it in doses between knocks of Dan Walsh J. Hendrix B. Dylan JJ Cale - every time i hear it and i have been hearing it for a long time N. Young- read this book (the first one) Pink Floyd- specifically "Wish You Were Here" album, thats got the guitar and keyboards to match those moments when your motorcycle no longer has any weight and you no longer require eye protection...... Max Roach- best drummer, saw him play accompanied by a cello and 2 violins while on a 3 piece kit. Mind altering music. Herb Alpert- master of fun Thanks for Rory Gallagher that was good.
  24. Wouldnt trust the parts store to make that decision Zooter. Guzzi Twin to a 4cyl Hilux? The key question is does the bypass spring allow the pressure available in the Guzzi to actuate it. Surface area/flow importance is increased as you modify (pods need the most as typically they let in way more crap) but most compatible filter designs are adequate provided they get changed with every oil change.
  25. You do the painting too? Nice job fabricating
