Who are the Ducatisi? comparing the 4v duc to the guzz is not fair for the guzzi in performance terms and not fair for the duc in service cost terms, the 2v duc is a much closer comparision.I suppose I don't pay attention to service costs cause I service my own and I work cheap Would I like to own a 4v duc ? not sure. for me the ideal would be 150kgs, 100 rear wheel hp and handle like its on rails, I prefer quick thru the corners any monkey can twist the throttle on the straights

If you can service your 2 valve guzzi you should be able to do your 2valve duc and were i live parts r cheap and I know of plenty of high mileage duc's still going strong I know the 4 valves are a little more complex but its not fair too compare 4valve ducs to 2valve guzzi on servicing costs

I agree they seem to have a fascination with blocking the road ,hugging the centre line and just being mobile chicanes but I think its a cruiser thing because the japenese harleys do it too. But the line I love from the harley riders is " IT"S A LIFESTYLE" wtf does that mean
  5. I run the oil level about 1cm over the full mark mainly because of what I've read here about oil starvation I've no problems no oil light flashing( that I've seen) no oil in the air box, I redline occassionaly but mostly stay below 6500rpm. check level before any ride longer than a short commute and haven't had to top up between changes. I gotta agree with RH why would anyone just pour in the 3.5 ltrs straight up there are variables such as RH described go for .5 to 1 ltr less then top up checking dip stick after all its easier to top up than suck the oil back out when overfull

    Weight

yes and the GT1000 is not even the sporty model the fact is any sportsbike sold new now should weigh under 200kgs. A lot of the bikes on petes list are oldish when 220-250kgs was common I would class the guzz as more of a sport tourer as many of the bikes on said list. I don't know what the roads are like where everyone else lives but in OZ the goat tracks we call roads really show up the guzzi's eerrr -plumpness

    Weight

My friend has a ducati pantah 650- 185kg I have a TT2 replica 650 ducati motor-155kg, he weighs70kg, I weigh 90 kg, result similar acceleration. Best way to gain performance, become anorexic and all the money you save on food can buy trick bits for the bike
  12. The risers are installed angled towards the rear, they are designed this way. There is no problem with clearing the fairing if they are installed this way. If you want I can take some detail pictures and post here, just let me know. yes please the old back and shoulders ain't what they used to be. also did u buy them in bris-vegas
  13. No one gives as much care or has as much time for your bike as you do, plus the satisfaction from a job well done . Besides why pay someone to stuff it up when you can do it for free
  14. I agree check fuses witha multi meter sometimes all is not as it appears
  15. you can only do that for so long before someone jumps out of a car at lights and a door gets you or someone just parks in his lane Talk to any motorcycle courier and they'll tell you its not a long term thing
  16. Went riding with a friend two weeks ago who has a sport1100i and a full staintune system and it sounds sweeeeeeeeeet

    Bike Stands

Home made version of one viewed here. srap steel and wheels in shed,2 hours work and hey presto bigger wheels help it to roll easier, haven't found a need for one on the handle. Its rock solid and a good balance point between front and rear
  18. I ran across this article and don't know if it's been posted but although it speaks of carby's 'points are relevant and some might find it interesting http://www.motorcycleproject.com/motorcycl...ws-jetting.html
  19. Funny the manual say's THESE are the STANDARD settings
  20. I tried this question here also with limited success, however my manual says for the forks: : upper screw ajusters (A)standard turn 3 turns anti-clockwise from fully closed position. :upper ajusting nuts ( turn7.5 turns anti-clockwise from fully closed closed postion. BUT it does not give a type of fork (brand), mine are marzocchi and have different ajusters, compression screw on one leg rebound on the other. Can't see any mention of the steering dampener but mines pretty well wound off and I've only had 2 violent head shakes both involving big bumps and high speed around 140-150kph, most of the time you don't need it check for seperate pic both wouldna fit
  21. I've heard from someone at the wogs rally that holden gemini starter bits will fit with abit of tinkering and he said all the info was on da web I just can't remember where
  22. good to see you got home safely
  23. Or like stretching the sock over the end ofyour clarinet it would still work but would detract from peak performance Also it wouldn't have a muffler on the end it would just be a race pipe not suitable for the street. its funny how most exhaust manufacturers on the web still refer to their products as of that style as rcm's baffled or not but what would they know they only design and make them. therefore a true (for want of a better term) rcm wouldn't have a baffle anywhere cause then itwould be sumpin else
