  1. read again I said the headstem not the headstock you know the tube that runs from the lower triple clamp to the top one. And yes if you sit the bottom triple clamp on the ground with the stem pointing straight up and dropped the bearing from the top of the stem it will more than likely slide straight on useing this method ps putting the races into the headstock I just use socket or an old race against the new one and tap in with a hammer making sure to work around it to keep it sqaure
  2. Aprilia put in a good showing especially in the second race when Max got a good start however he said his tyres went off so maybe next time, shame about the BMWs but didn't haga do well, it would be good to see him win the championship he works hard
  3. I don't want to be picky but heating expands and cooling contracts so throw the headstem in the freezer and warm the bearing to say 80-100c in the oven and you will find they almost fall together
  4. apply a cutting disc in a small angle grinder across the race carefull not to hit stem or triple tree and when almost through place a small cold chisel in the cut rest it on something solid and give it a hit I've done this on everything from axle bearing to head stem's and never had a problem. Handy when you don't have a press. ps sometimes you have to make two cuts
  5. sound like a bad earth to me
  6. Hi, if the prices of our local plastic welder are anything to go by it would be cheaper to buy a new one or better yet two pack
  7. Ther's a tyres for bikes at 14 gore st albion in brissy but if your going west there's a tyres for bikes in toowoomba I had a business card but lost it. But if your coming north I live in Gympie so give us a hoi for that beer
  8. G'day muddy and welcome ' myself and a couple of friends are planning alitle ride next year, east to west and return all dirt so we might catch up then. .One's a born and bred groper and I Lived there from 82 to 97 so it will be good to see old haunts
  9. Agreed it should be an 850 . A couple of mates have have mk1's and they have no trouble getting parts be it from swap meets , Don Newwell m/cycles in brisbane or road and race in NSW These bikes have covered some big milage trips over the last 3 yrs including tassie and far nth queensland One is maintained but not pretty the other is immaculate The mk1 is a classic and left in a relative stock condition will only appreciate while giving years of fun Ps this is the best pic I could find its from the ruptured budgie 2007
  10. Oh no smarm was intended but realize you have no idea of my knowlege as I have no idea of yours .These conversations go in increasingly vitriolic circles until they get shutdown, frankly I failed to see how this relates to MG however I don't think anyone's covered religion, the web posts to justify the arguments should be hilarious
  11. Bureaucracy gone mad they could at least make the age 6yrs or at least have a transportation clause, I don't belive many 6yr olds would put bike parts in their mouth
  12. Find a way to pay for one of these: http://motogadget.de/en/msc.html Yeah I used arildite to stick mine as well, seems ok .The motogadet gauge is fantastic shame about the price
  13. Cost won't matter if you don't survive
  14. wish I could speak russian and I've never seen a ural go so fast
  15. Thats one very nice mk4
  16. In the dinosaur age there were plants everywhere converting co2 to oxygen maintaining the balance now think about how many plants have disappeared not just things like the Amazon or forests of se asia but all the ground under citys around the world not to mention the dams ,agriculture(an acre of wheats not as good as an acre of rainforest), and a hell of a lot more people ,you can see how the greenery might not be coping. I agree yelling the sky is falling won't help but neither will ignoring a potenial problem.carbon tax is a joke but it seems the only way to get people to act is to hit them in the pocket. Humans can be great procrastinators (you know don't fix the wall till it falls on your head) but as I see it, at best the science was right and we fix the problem ,at worst we fix or lessen some of the enviromental messes around the world. As for the economic aspect all the money in the world won't help if you have no health and nowhere to live. Ps:even a small rise in ocean level can have an effect as seen by some small south pacific communities having to relocate. other places in jeapody are the Maldives ,Sri lanka and Bangladesh to name a few, if it all goes wrong where are all the people going to live
  17. The thing about being able to lock the brake is it gives a reference point. maximum braking force is achived just prior to locking the front wheel, herin lies the technique if your brakes and technique can hold this point the only modification that will improved braking is more tyre grip
  18. If you can lock the front wheel your brakes are powerfull enough. Feel and fade are something that can be tailored to suit the rider and are a personal preference, my stock V11 works for me as I know its not a full on sports bike (too bloody heavy) my ducati 160kgs, 300mm twin rotors,Tokico 4 spot calipers,1992 900ss master cylinder never locked the front but lifted the rear 2 foot in an emergency stop with 2 fingers. Which is better, it's like comparing apples to oranges because of the weight difference. Go with your preference whether the benifits are real or imagined its your bike. As for boy racers and polishing your skills I think there's a bit of boy racer in us all otherwise we'd ride cruisers. polishing your skills implies improvement but unless you push your boundries you'll never improve and the safest place to do that is on the track, ageed the local mountain pass can be more interesting but its not the place to test your limits And to anyone who's never tried a track day give it a go they cater for all abilities and it can be addictive., no police,no dogs,no oil,no soccer mums, etc
  19. The video was great and puts forward very logical arguments ,but some people just can't see past their point of view hey maybe it was masterbation
  20. There r fires in the area its possible the phone lines have been affected be patient, hopefully they get a break with the weather and get things under control soon
  21. I bet she's never hurt her nose when falling over
  22. If the citizens get bigger weapons than the criminals then won't the criminals get biggers weapons and then citizens will need bigger weapons then we'll have to get a nuclear weapon, heeeeey? hasn't someone done this before Hmmm speaking of promoting fear and panic. Excuse me but the crime rate has NOT skyrocketed in OZ
  23. I'll put a toe in the water about this gun debate(just for a laugh) There have been some good points scored by both sides BUT: personal freedom, no one that lives in a modern society has total freedom however I do see goverment bans happening far to often ,my counties latest is an internet censorship and they are making noises about smoking, alcohol, fast food, fast cars and MOTOCYCLES and any thing else they see fit to protect us from. So while I don't particlarly like guns or see a need for them in a modern society this still smells like a goverment that thinks it knows best no matter what you say. If your society is so crime ridden you have to sleep with gun in hand to protect your self( which I thought the police should be doing) I would be asking serious questions of my goverment, looking to the reasons crime is rampant. Fact is social inequality ,lack of basic needs like employment ,healthcare, food, decent housing and education is how crime gets a foothold. Remember you just can't ban everything but you can't shoot it either.
