  1. normal, look at your car or any other engine with an oil light if the engine starts straight away the light will be on for a fraction of a sec. If you have to crank it abit it won't happen, 5 sec's I'd worry, try not to rev to much when first starting
  2. why do people always think god is only on their side and, what does this have to do with motoguzzi
  3. goverments should not bail out companies unless these companies start profit sharing with the gov in the good times. Payment of obscene bonuses to CEO's even when they don't perform should be outlawed. As for oil, the U.S. consumes 25% of the worlds oil no wonder it's dependency is a problem a large portion of that oil belongs to other countries. Electric vehicles sound great BUT u need to produce more power plants to charge all these vehicles, power plants need to be (at the moment) powered by coal, gas, nuclear systems all with their problems and limits the only true form of transport is walking, I know, dull but cheap and reliable
  4. [ I really believe the three light triangle is the best thing for front end motorcycle conspicuity. the only thing missing is the tinsel
  5. The old lights on they'll see me theory. I never run lights in daylight because it conditions drivers to only look for a light, lets face it if they can't see a bike they shouldn't be on the road cause they surley won't see a pedestrian. I treat all car drivers like morons and expect them to do all the dumb things. it seems to work for me 34years riding 360 days a year and only one argument with a car
  6. I had a similar problem, park bike battery flat after a week, disconnect battery then reconnect after a month bike would start; I assumed there was a drain somewhere but when I eventually had to buy a new battery the problem went away
  7. 93 premium doesn't sound good enough add an octane booster if the noise don't go away it's probably not pinging
  8. If your bike pings at 6500 rpm or when u blip the throttle on down shifts either your mistaken as to the source of the noise or there is something very wrong with either the fuel or the ignition advance no way should it do that. I would have the ignition checked out

    Motorcycle boots

I wear a similar sort of boot for work and short rides and like , them a full lenght boot is better for cold and wet weather. I had a pair of alpine stars for 15 years(resoled twice) that where wonderfull. Avoid boots with plastic or hard panels if u intend walking when u arrive as they can b good on the bike but uncomfertable for a stroll. slip on boots can be torn off in an accident laces get caught on foot controls. Make sure they fasten securely with velcro, zips etc
  12. Be one of those then u can sit back and watch us and them

    pinging

fuelsI've watched the debate about pinging and the suggested cures ranging from tune up to minor engine rebuild, well here's my Back when I was an apprentice and they still put lead in fuel the rule of thumb was compression 7.5:1 approx or less ,regular or standard fuel 92 ron ok. Higher ratio better fuel around 97ron (premium or super) I believe the V11 has a ratio of 9.8:1 why on earth would u run low octane fuel(as some members have said they do) then wonder why it pings. These bikes don't leave the factory pinging so look for the simple things first. Have u change fuel recently is igniton timming accurate. If u must use a low octane fuel use an octane booster.I've attached a link to a fuel article u might find interesting http://www.imageno.com/p7hb2pybxnempic.html http://www.imageno.com/0xipij612g3npic.html

    election

It's probably not a question u should ask, lets just keep politics off the forum along with the mine's better than yours perspective
  16. most harley's most BMW's ( maybe all) new buell 1125 yamaha virago honda dohville ducati multistrada motoguzzi breva ural honda leadwing new triumph rocket 3 In random order
  17. what do u look for in a bike? the V11 is heavy, underpowered (a jap bike of similar capacity will give at least half again more power)and will likely need some small fix's to get it reliable and the way u like it.Having said that It's Italian ,will likely run forever, easy to fix,has shaft drive,is not common, has a orgasmic note when fitted with right cans, BUT it's not for every one and u need to get as long a test ride as u can
  18. Sounds like glorified supersports or mini superbikes, should be 500cc, max 2 cyl and skys the limit with mods
  19. maybe ,but there's been some good racing in the 125 and 250 classes and even though the superbikes are settled I'm sure bayliss will put on a good show for his last 2 races

    1200 Sport 4V

Or better still buy the bike without the parts I don,t want(cheaper) and fit the custom goodies with the saved money

  22. just replaced the springs in my marzocchi usd with progressive units from Ikon springs $185 AUD delivered to my door. Proved to be a straight forward swap for the stanard units, even used the standard preload spacers and ended up with 28mm of sag with my fat arse aboard. replaced oil with 395ml of 5 weight and run 3 clicks compression dampening and 1 of rebound. ckecked the travel with the plastic tye trick and could probabley lose a few ml of oil as I originally tried 375ml but was to close to bottoming out. I measured the oil useing a large medical syringe as this allows accuracy, very happy with the ride now absorbes the bumps much better. Also have included a pic of the contents of the fork cap eg the dampening ajuster as mine broke. the fix involved removing the screw slot section drilling it and turning new screw section (with more metal on it) and silver soldering in place ,Note there is an o ring missing in this pic. works well looks better than new. p.s. had to post 2nd pic seperate
  23. I can see pro's and con's to owning any motorcycle, and peoples bias can blind them to facts but at the end of the day it's whatever u can afford and are comfortable with.
