  1. you're trying to tell me a guzzi is not tempramental ,for god's sake it's an italian motorcycle they can all try our patience just look at the questions asked here
  2. you guys sure get cheap tires ,here in aus the tires u quote would cost $240-$300 and even allowing for exchange rates etc
  3. I'd try the track or the sack I think even defeat would be nice
  4. heh, don't laugh. I used to strap afull set of golf clubs(in bag) to my suzuki katana. I was a golf addict and only transport was the bike
  5. fake orgasm, I like it. It's a very accurate description. but it's fun to chase the jap crotch rockets through the twisties even if they do leave us on the straights
  6. yes it is a small allen head screw and it maintains pressure on the small steel ball inside the hole inside the cap. the ball pushes against the grooves in the compression and rebound ajusters and gives the clicking effect when ajusting.WARNING do not tighten this grubscrew to much as it will make the dampening ajusters hard to turn and you will possibley break the screw slot in the ajuster as i did.lol. A new one means u must buy the whole fork cap $185 Aus. I've found someone who can repair mine and I will post pic's of this plus install of IKon progressive spings next week end.

  8. no,no Ive changed my mind I want this one
  9. take the pads right out of the caliper and check and clean. I had a pad seperate from its backing plate and cause a terrible vibration but could not see it until I removed the pads
  10. buy yourself a goood manual study it research the web and fix it YOURSELF. This is why we buy the less high tech bikes like guzzi's, 2valve ducati's. you work through the little annoying problems and u end up with a 100% reliable bike. My core group of ride friends ride bikes from 1974 to 2006 models, guzzi's with 150000 kms a ducati monster with 120000kms, I've had a ducati pantah with over a 100000kms. If you have to run to the dealership every time the tires need checking you should probably by a japanese gtxyz 1000 because the work staight out the factory.I loooove to tinker with my bikes, you get to know it and can fix it by the road if need be. but to say one is more reliable than the next is bias B.S.
  11. some people just have no idea. send around the bad taste police and book em danno
  12. sit and look at a record cover, interesting especially the concept albums. look at a cd cover ,DULL. your more involved with a record ,you have to get up and turn it over . they have substance!

  14. I think part of ducati's success with both the fans and in superbikes is because the current engine has strong links back to the 500cc lacky band motors of the 70's (eg pantah). I think a guzzi superbike would have to have the same kind of links to the past.Development costs would be very high, and lets face it, compare how far the duc v twin has evolved compared to the guzzi over the last 40yrs. I would love to see more italian names on the grid .If guzzi go down this path they risk alienating the core following who buy and love guzzi's because of their easy to work on aspect and long life, although ducati have been successfull by marketing retro models for the DIY people and the high tech models for those who prefer to have the dealer work on their bikes

The brass ajuster for the compression broke were u insert the screwdriver(I hardly touched it honest) the brass seems soft so I might get a couple of stainless ones made. My prob is when I removed the ajuster from the fork cap a small steel ball fell out and I'm not sure how its located in the cap, "Ratchethack" u seem to know these forks well any help much appreciated, I will b contacting the local guzzi dealer tomrrow t c if Ican get a workshop manual and price the ajusters

    marzocchi forks

Help please Ive checked the threads but can.t find what I want. Problem 2001 mandello marzocchi usd forks compression ajust on one leg, rebound on the other ajusted by srew in the middle of 19mm nut on cap. nut undoes cap so far then just clicks and won't come off. never dismantled usd forks before.
  22. wots the go ?pull the tank on my 2001 mandello has overflow and vent nipples underneath tank but only a hose connected to one which runs down behind motor, I assume this ones the overflow. So is hte hose missing from the vent or do they just vent on top of the engine which seems dodgey, also can't believe how small those intake snorkels are gotta do something about that!
